Detective Hydessa Darling has grown up following in her mother’s footsteps, always feeling like she is in the shadows of those around her. Her mother is infamous for her affinity for murderers and their victims, and she didn’t raise her daughters with delusions of how the world truly is.
When Hydessa stumbles across a blog describing what could only be a series of murders she feels drawn to investigate them. But when the identity of the blogger evades them she must travel undercover to a tourist island hotspot to find out the truth behind the blog and catch the mystery killer.
Not everything is what it seems and soon Hydessa is entangled in her own dangerous game. Is it a game she can win? Or had she lost before she even arrived on the island?
Maree's Note: Warning, this book is a whychoose MFM dark contemporary romance. It contains very explicit 18+ dark, sexual content, and straight-up smut. The male leads are not prince charming, they are villains with psycho tendencies and therefore there is stalking, obsessive and possessive behavior, unaliving people, and lots of dark and twisted content. There is a warning list at the front of the book but please feel free to reach out to me on social media prior to purchasing. Proceed at your own risk, if you dare. All the characters are 18+

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Readability: 📖📖📖📖 Feels: 🦋🦋🦋 Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔 Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡⚡⚡ Romance: 💞💞💞 Sensuality: 💋💋💋💋 Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑🍑 Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Humor: A touch, but overall this has heavier themes Perspective: first person from all the 3 main characters but mostly from the heroine (only a few short chapters from the heroes) More character focused or plot focused? plot How did the speed of the story feel? slow to medium (slower in the beginning) When mains are first on page together: I felt like it took forever! There is some minimal mention on the blog post that they ‘know’ Hydessa is on the island but they aren’t actually on page together until about 28% (technically Hydessa meets both male main characters before this point but the reader has no idea they are the ‘masked men’) Cliffhanger: the mains end with a happy for now, but the story ends with a cliffhanger for the sister’s story, which will be book 3 Epilogue: Yes, but it’s more of a prologue for the next book Format: read an e-book copy through kindle unlimited Why I chose this book: I read book 1 and loved so much about it! I saw this was out and wanted to try. (Descriptions found at end of my review)
Should I read in order? I think you should! It’s not 100% necessary, but there is character overlap (the heroine in this story is the daughter of the throuple in book 1) and there’s some plot mentions.
Basic plot: Hydessa is drawn into a blog detailing murders in a small island town and goes undercover to solve the case.
Give this a try if you want: - contemporary romance - Island/small town setting - MFM pairing (no M/M) - darker romance elements with content warnings - mystery in the plot - detective heroine - obsessive/possessive heroes - we’ll watch you while you sleep... - size difference (taller heroes) - pierced heroes - kinks including breath/throat play resulting in bruising, masks, praise, degradation, knife play including marking (with caretaking), bondage, degradation (more like ‘you’re our little slut’…), masochism, primal play - higher steam – 5ish full scenes (I don’t count a random encounter with another male character)
Ages: - heroine is 25, didn’t catch heroes but I think they are somewhat close in age
First line: Somethings I wonder what it would be like to be normal.
My thoughts: I am conflicted about this book! I loved book 1 for what it was – pure masked man ravishment….but the plot was quite weak and the whole mystery was weak too (not that I cared because I wasn’t here for that…). I do think this book improved on the plot and the characters and gave a bit more depth.
I do think there was a lot of similarities between the two books. The setting was different, but the relationship aspect was 100% similar even down to the childhood memories. I didn’t mind that toooo much because I went into this book wanting what I got and I didn’t necessary need a lot of originality.
Maybe I’m just a lame poor sport, but I despised how the children called their parents Truth and Dare?? I just thought that was weird – I guess I took it as more special for the heroine from that book (Hunt Me Darling) and not for the kids. Like that was all the dirty talk and names in book 1….and since Hydessa calls them Dad and Papa or whatever, I didn’t see a reason for her to call them that (I understand not wanting to give away the identities from book 1 in case people haven’t read that...but again Dad and Papa do that just fine from her perspective.) And while I liked the idea of Hide and Seek for this book being a theme, I really hated the play on that for their names (HYDEssa and SEAnna) and how every. Single. Time. They called each other they went through their hide and seek lines….minor complaints but it did pull me out of the story!
Another minor complaint -
And last complaint….while this was a bit of an improvement from book 1 it was also driving me nuts – the amount of characters you were introduced to in the beginning. Maybe I wouldn't have minded as much if we had some interaction between the heroine and heroes, but we had to wait forever for that so at that point I was like omg I don’t care about any more peopleeeeeeee…..
But overall I liked a lot about this book. I am in my mask kink era for sure and this met that fantasy. I didn’t find it quite as….gory-ish as book 1 which was again an improvement for me, but it also wasn’t quite as steamy as book 1 either.
All that aside I’m totally going to be reading book 3 when it comes out!!!

Content warnings: These should be taken as a minimum of what to expect. It’s very possible I have missed some.
Locations of kisses/intimate scenes, safe sex aspects, consent, pregnancy/child in the story: Safe sex: heroine is on birth control. A condom is used in a random encounter at a bar. I don’t believe there’s any protection used from the heroes and they also cut out her birth control while she was sedated Hows the consent? If you prefer consent in your books, I would not read this. There are scenes of dubious and non consensual acts. It’s very ravishment fantasy. Pregnancy/children in story? (Please note this is the best to my memory/note taking. If you see something I missed please feel free to message!) No children in the story, and I don’t believe there’s much talk of having children or pregnancy, but the heroes cut out her birth control and don’t use protection so there is a light element of ‘breeding’ vibes…. 8% - sex in the club between Hydessa (pretending to be her sister) and a male stranger 32% - 🔥 heroine self pleasure that is interrupted by the heroes on the TV “We told you we would come for you,” Abel’s modulated voice joins, darker, more menacing. “From that moment on, you belonged to us.” A shiver runs down my spine. I can almost feel his touch again, sending a jolt of arousal through me. “Now, lay back,” Cain’s voice is softer now, almost coaxing. “Show us what belongs to us.”
45% - 🔥 heroine is drugged, kidnapped and chained to the bed. Knife play, marking, choking, fingering for her, Cain (with plenty of piercings) fucks Hydessa while Abel (with one piercing) fucks her mouth. When Cain finishes, Abel does her doggy style “Do you want more now, baby girl? Do you want our cocks?” Cain’s question hangs in the air, a challenge and a promise wrapped in one.
60% - 🔥 primal play in the closed carnival – Cain chases Hydessa through the house of mirrors and fucks her... “I’m going to fuck you now, little shadow I’m going to impale you on my cock and savor every delicious sound you make.
71% - 🔥 fingering for her by Abel, bj for Cain, Abel takes her from behind in the cave I open and he presses forward, groaning as my lips wrap around him. The piercings along the underside of his length are cold compared the warmth of my mouth, and I flick my tongue against them, wondering if they are sensitive. I hear the catch in his breath as his cock twitches inside my mouth, so I do it again.
92% - 🔥 oral for her, then DP with both (1V1A) “You want to know the only difference between now and when I had that mask on and you didn’t know who I was?” Before I can answer, he wraps his hands around the back of my knees and jerks me toward the edge of the bed. “”This,” he says, ripping my underwear from my body with one swift motion.

Full break down on what my ratings above mean here: Overall: How I felt about it everything considered! Readability: How ‘readable’ was the book? Did I fly through it? Did I have to tell myself to pick it back up repeatedly? Were any passages confusing? (I will probably score like (1) is literally unreadable due to formatting/typing errors, etc (2) There were lots of errors that made it difficult to read OR It was extremely confusing and I had to reread passages to make sense of it OR I disliked it so much I had to bribe myself to keep reading (3) I didn’t really want to keep reading and would have preferred to abandon the read and start something else OR some minor continuity issues/confusion (4) I liked it fine, maybe a minor error or 2. I was happy to pick it up when I had time. (5) I never wanted to put this down. I thought about it when I wasn’t reading it. I hid in the bathroom from my kids to read. I threw inappropriate food at my children for dinner so I could read instead.) Feels: Totally subjective to each person but did the book give me any tingles? Any butterflies? Did it rip my heart out (in a good way?) Emotional depth: How well do I feel I know the characters at the end? How much did I feel their emotions throughout the story? Sexual tension: Again, subjective, but how strong was the wanting and longing to me between the characters? A book might have strong sexual tension without a single touch. Romance: Was there romance? Did romantic things happen? This can be actions/words/thoughts of the characters and again is subjective. Sensuality: This is how the intimate scenes are written. Kisses and sexual scenes – how sensual were they? Were they on the mechanical side? Was there emotional pull tied in? Were the details explicit or flowery? These are subjective but generally (1) too short to get a good judgement (2) not all what I'm looking for - very vague or flowery prose (3) either not explicit enough or not enough emotional pull (too mechanical/physically descriptive without the emotions) (4) what I love in a scene (5) absolute perfection - perfect balance of emotional longing and explicit descriptions Sex Scene Length: How long the bedroom scenes are (generally (1) is 1-3 sentences (2) is a few paragraphs to a page-ish (3) is about average, a few pages (4) more well developed scenes, quite a few pages with descriptions (4) the majority of the book takes place in the bedroom. This is always hard to tell for me on audio! Steam Scale: Generally, each flame is a scene. If scenes are super close together I sometimes combine them. If a scene is super short or so vague I don’t know what’s happening, I don’t count it. There’s some levels of grey but generally the number of flames is how many sex scenes there are (I max out at 5 so I’ll put a + after if there’s more than that)
I loved hunt me darling, so I was excited to read this book, and it did not disappoint! That cliffhanger at the end!! I can't wait until the next book comes out. If you love masked men, stalking, and spicy scenes read these books!
Alright so, this book was really, really good. One might even say fantastic. you don’t have to read ‘hunt me darling’ to understand this book BUT I would recommend it since there are characters and references from that book in this one. So to avoid being confused, just read it. It’s delightfully delicious, just like this one. ‘Hide me darling’ kept me engaged and interested throughout the story. It’s dark and spicy and I love the relationship Hydessa has with her sister and the one she develops with the masked men. Oh yes, there are masked men. *drool* I kept guessing who the men were and who the bad guy was but in the end I was only half right. And also, HOW DARE YOU END IT ON THAT NOTE. I NEED BOOK THREE NOW.
This was way too similar to the 1st book. Basically the same thing happens, still a good plot, but it was just pretty irritating reading this right after Hunt Me Darling. It does end on a cliffhanger so hopefully the 3rd book has its own plot instead of repeating a lot of the same things…AGAIN
wow, maree rose did it again- MASTERPIECE, i’m in love with the darling games and i’m so exited to read Seanna’s book, also the cliffhanger about seannas book i mean you did warn me maree however i need the third book ASAP🛐🛐🛐
4.25/5🌟 I love these books. I enjoyed the characters so much and the murder mystery. I did guess a lot of it but that is something that i run into often lol i almost wish this book was longer? I wanted to see them more together after the big reveal like we did with the first book. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this and couldn’t stop reading. I need the next book asap after that cliffhanger!!!
Honestly so disappointed…. I loved the first book so much and had such high expectations for this one. It was like reading the first book all over again just different town and different people. BORING!!!!!!
i completely thought i had both guys figured out for the reveal towards the end i had my solid pairing convinced on who it was but i was only part right which is surprising because i didn’t really expect that man at all they were just close enough to the guy i was convinced about that it could’ve made sense for it to be the wrong of them BUT IT WASNT IT WAS ONLY ONE !!! but oh my god the reveal of who the second guy was made so much fucking sense like the shit they’d been saying after the reveal it made perfect sence
THEIR BACKSTORYS TOOO ????? OH MY GOD AAAAAH !?????
i cant wait for the next fucking book already next year tho 🥲 and i shouldn’t have read the cliffhanger chapter for the next book omg i can’t wait
No sakra🥵🥵.
Jinak ten ostrov a místní několikrát překvapili. Žádní svatoušci 😁.
Opět bych uvítala něco více rozvedené a ne tak rychlý konec, ale i tak jako celek parádní👌, i když jednička měla větší grády a strašidelnější nádech. To je jen konstatování, ne výtka.

hide me darling follows the daughter of the fmc from the first book, hydessa darling. following her mothers footsteps in law enforcement she attempts to solve a murder case happening an island full of mysterious locals. as she attempts to navigate her way through the investigation the pull to give into her darkness gets stronger and stronger.
this book was fine? i guess? it honestly felt like the first book just in a different font. sure, there were a few more kinks but the relationship development almost mimicked the first book.
some of the character descriptions were either inconsistent or just didn’t match what the author was trying to get across? hydessa, the fmc is i think suppose to come off as a dedicated, bad ass detective but she really just comes off as an insecure girl in her parents shadow. the mmc’s are described as these tall, muscular men but when they’re unmasked you find that it doesn’t match their actual character description?
the sneak peak we got at seanna’s story has my interest PIQUED and i will absolutely be reading. 👀 i’m hoping her story is finally something different (and maybe not necessarily why choose? like a whole family full of multiple partners? wild ☠️)
I loved this! We follow Hydessa, who stumbles across a blog describing unaliving people on an island. She is overwhelmed with investigating it, she’s a detective after all.
Once on the island we go thru the stress with her trying to profile & figure all the locals out….everyone is a suspect. But she feels like she’s the one being watched. Not everything is what it seems. Masked men, mystery, so many secrets & suspense will keep you turning the pages. The spicy scenes are spicy. Great read!
HIDE ME DARLING IS A STANDALONE BOOK WITHIN THE DARLING GAMES UNIVERSE; IT CAN BE READ ON IT'S OWN, BUT IT'S HIGHLY ENCOURAGED YOU READ BOOK ONE FIRST!
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. For those who know me, you know that hunt me darling is my Roman Empire and my obsession is real. So because of that, I have been impatiently dying inside for this book! I mean being in the Darling world is where I want to always be!
Hydessa is out to solve a case...but guess what?! She finds herself in a similar situation as her parents...👀 I mean, we loved Truth & Dare in HMD, so more masked men for this one, yes freaking please!
I absolutely am obsessed with these men and the way the story unfolds. You'll have to create your own mürder board yourself to keep track of everything. And then you'll tear it down and redo it so many times. Because miss Maree likes to fool ya and send you on a wild goose chase and leave you on the edge all the time.
The island. The masks. The men. The cave. Every single thing about this book is addicting and amazing. You'll never want it to end.
Speaking of the end...Maree strikes again...go figure right? Lol!

This book had me up late with all the plot twists. Just when you think you know something you're wrong 🤣 I loved everything about this book; the darkness, the killer plot twists, the spiiiceee, most definitely the spice 🤣 I love masked men sooo much and these are definitely on my list of favorites. I love/hate that ending though it's too long til the next book to throw an ending like that at me 🤣
I absolutely loved Hunt me darling (book 1) so I couldn't wait for this book to come out. The twists and turns kept me hooked from the very beginning and I was so surprised by the reveal. The spice is absolute chefs kiss also. Hydessa is such a strong FMC, I was worried that after Alex I wouldn't connect with her as well as I did with her but Maree wrote her perfectly that I adored her character. If you loved masked men, stalking and the opposite of Prince charming(s) this book is definitely for you.
I enjoy the dark romance thriller genre and I did enjoy this book but it was a bit too close in storyline to the first one for me. I can’t wait for the next book still, I hope it features Hydessa, her partners, and her parents taking the time to work together to find Seanna.
Like everything else I have read from Maree Rose, this book is EVERYTHING I could have wanted. This story had me hooked from the start and it had me trying to figure it all out from the moment I started reading. However, I couldn’t figure it out. It kept me guessing and trying to figure out what was coming. I loved the level of spice and element of mystery the book had to it. The story line was a good one too. The book came together nicely and made for an excellent read!
A fantastic sequel to Hunt Me Darling! Maree Rose has done it again, Hydessa and her boys Abel and Cain. The books was a perfect mix of spicy romance and murder mystery! I can’t wait for the next book!! 😍
I loved the first book and having read it in May, I quickly pre-ordered 'Hide me Darling'.
By the end of the book I was invested in the narrative, the reveals and everything coming together. I felt like it was worth pushing through and by the end, I'm glad I stuck it out.
I will definitely be reading the next book!
It was a good read but I felt distracted by the repetitive nature of the narrative; it felt like the same story and I'm still not sure what Hydessa actually embraced. The first 100 pages were tricky to get through and then I just kept seeing the same story play out with a hint of 'Haunting Adeline' included and even the baseball bat took away from what I loved about the series to start with.
It feels like this is a bridge into a much bigger storyline, and I'm definitely ready for part 3. It just took a while to get into it and really feel a spark.
And maree did it again! I'm so obsessed with these books. The third one? I can not wait..I don't do spoilers but wtf?!? The twists and turns and just everything. I love love this book.
That cliff hanger!!!! Oh my lord! Anyway this was so wonderful. I love the ride and the mystery and trying to work it out with the FMC and I even got a few things right. Favorite quote " I'm going to die....here likes the corpse of Hydessa Darling...death by cock." 😅
i read the second book bc i wanted to know if it was the same plot and 🥁🥁🥁 it was! it was the same exact fucking plot holy shit are you KIDDING me. i mean i guess the joke’s on me because i paid MONEY for this so good for u girl i guess get that dough
