After breaking into the industry at a young age, Sean Gordon Murphy made a name for himself in the world of indie comics before joining up with DC. In his tenure, he has worked on such titles as Batman/Scarecrow: Year One, Teen Titans, Hellblazer, Joe The Barbarian, and the critically acclaimed miniseries American Vampire: Survival Of The Fittest and The Wake with Scott Snyder. Murphy also wrote and illustrated the original graphic novel Offroad and the popular miniseries Punk Rock Jesus.

Me frustra pensar que he aceptado esta cabecera y su propuesta tan solo por las "pildoritas" del próximo capítulo troncal del "Whiteverso" con ese nuevo "World´s Finest". Porque realmente los gemelos Bryce y Jackie merecían un espacio para "respirar" como personajes tras todo lo concerniente a White Beyond. Sí, el "road trip" con el holograma de Jack Napier con las horas contadas era una excusa perfecta. Pero a pesar que con el spin-off de Beyond de Red Hood me quedó a deber el ser solo dos entregas. Creo que en esta ocasión, sí que la extensión más breve y concisa hubiese sido lo ideal. Sí que Katana Collins trata de hacer más interesante su propuesta recuperando a "Neo-Joker" y implicando más a Harley (además de cargar con la presencia de esa "Justice League" a la que han integrado a Bruce a la fuerza). Pero todo este mejunje no termina de cuajar, volviendo a dejar a los gemelos como meras comparsas y un recurso dramático gratuito. Clay McCormack tampoco logra hacer salir bien parado el empeño en imprimir un estilo más "amerimanga" quizás para llamar más la atención a target puramente juvenil. Al final, la mayor parte de esta historia versa sobre temas bien crudos de mortalidad y pérdida de seres queridos. Por lo que choca cuando no se dan escenas de acción.

Me gusta que el "Whiteverso" haya funcionado y sea ya su propio Universo DCita totalmente asentado. Pero el tener que producir spin-offs que acaban siendo totalmente prescindibles sí que me parece un error garrafal.

It's a decent enough end, but it's too busy to really enjoy page by page and panel by panel. With the end comes the full picture of how Diana Prince and John Stewart were (under) utilized, along with other characters that pop up, and they come across more as Easter Eggs than as offering any decent contribution. I kept waiting for *something* from either of them and nothing changes here. I love Bryce and Jackie, and they deserve to have to the focus of the end. This is literally their title and the end is stolen from them to tease our wallets with the next installment to come. 🙄 DC is on brand there, at least. Diluting the White Knight universe makes it less interesting to me. A White Knight universe without Sean Murphy's art is less compelling to me. I am a Batfan. I'm sure I'll get excited about the next chapter since it started here, but for now I'm a bit soured by the epilogue and less interested in a Bat-adjacent version. That said, without the epilogue, I am happy with the adventure Jackie and Bryce got to have with their dad, and the resolution.

If I do decide to get future installments, I'll likely switch to trades and save some money.
