“Sarah J Maas meets Mistborn in a dark twisted fairytale”

I would have stolen the glass crown and settled my debts.

Run from Tal and become a dancer.

If only he’d not caught me…

I’m an indebted stepdaughter, a sister and a thief.

He is the crown prince of the City of the Dead.

And he thinks I’m his missing foreign bride, trying to break the engagement.

Our mother said kindness will lead to a better tomorrow, but my twin sister argues only blood will even the score.

Rebels are circling, the prince has plans of his own, and my employer cannot be trusted. But none of that matters because, for a chance at freedom, I’ll lie and cheat and steal.

At the end of summer, there will be a wedding, but who will live to see it?

It’s time to play the princess.

Stealing Glass is the first book in the Tales of Bones and Roses Cinderella duology, a slow burn romantasy with bantering enemies to lovers, royally mistaken identity and backstabbing political intrigues in a darkly gothic world.

What if Cinderella was a thief,

the fairy godmother evil,

...and the prince only wanted to marry to get his revenge?

I absolutely adored this book! 4⭐️

Stealing Glass is truly like Cinderella meets a distopain society that also has Griffons.

Vanya is a poor girl living with her terrible step-father. After years of collecting up a debt with interest that is impossible to pay Vanya and her twin sister Lumi decide to give thievery a try.
When their newest heist at the palace goes wrong Vanya finds herself impersonating the missing foreign bride of the prince, who she shares a remarkable resemblance with.

Truly Vanyas storyline gave me major Barbie Princess and the pauper vibes which I loved! She is a strong female lead, who voices her opinion, takes risks and was overall an enjoyable character.

Dimitriiiii. Of course the prince has one of the best male names to ever exist!!
I feel like it is not to often I read a book where the prince is the one who does not want the crown or the title and for Dimitri that was just the case.
A prince that is fueled by his want of revenge and will stop at nothing to get it??? Sign me up.
I was not expecting that past that this prince has but I was not disappointed at all. After returning home from isolation Dimitri works alongside his best friend Alexi to exact his revenge.
In his case I believe the revenge he wanted and opinions he held were all completely justified and I’m excited to see what happens in book 2 with his storyline!

This book did have a huge cliffhanger and I was expecting it, but it still hit me and left my chest hallow and ready for book 2!

Overall it was a great romantasy read and a book I will recommend!

(And a huge thank you to NetGalley and ‎Sävström Müller Press for letting me read an arc of this book!)

3/5-I did not love it, but I did not dislike this one. I was super excited to get this ARC as the general synopsis of it made it sound great!

This had a great and sexy premise to it, but ultimately it fell a little flat for me because of the world building. I felt a little lost between transitions of events and some of the information seemed to just appear out of nowhere, without much context in this work. I did see the elements of the Cinderella retelling in this, but I also found that it seemed to draw in some elements almost from the Little Mermaid.

The characters seemed to vary in dimension/depth and but I would say our most unique character in the entire thing is Eki, who is not necessarily one of our main characters. She seemed to have the most personality to me. Her story is not light hearted or anything, and her story just seemed so different to me, and I really appreciated that! Our MMC and FMC are incredibly stubborn and think that they're ten steps ahead but they're actually not (sometimes).

However, I will say that this could be very redeemable depending on how the second book goes. I often find that sometimes some books are best read immediately back to back.

Rarely am I hooked on a book from the very first line but this one grabbed me from the word go.

You can truly feel the atmosphere of this books setting and every character, no matter how small, has presence and is interesting.

The main characters have their flaws but are extremely entertaining and I found myself wanting to know every little detail about them.

The twists were exciting and I never found myself bored while reading this book. If anything I’d have liked it to last a lot longer and am eagerly awaiting the sequel.

Highly recommend this book for lovers of fantasy and romance. If I could give it 10 stars I absolutely would!

Thank you to the author Liv Strom and NetGalley for providing this ARC.

4.5 stars!

What if Cinderella was a thief, the fairy godmother evil, and the prince only wanted to marry for revenge?

The story centres around Vanya who is a street thief and Dimitri, the crown prince of Tal, who are both dealing with their own grief, betrayal and secrets.

Liv Strom does a fantastic job with setting the atmosphere of the book from the first chapter and the plot is very fast paced. It was really easy to get completely sucked into the story and I really struggled to put the book down. The city of Tal almost had a ‘city of the dead’ vibe to it with death being one of the main attributes of the city itself, especially with the spirits that float about (I actually thought they sounded quite cute). Liv’s use of descriptive imagery of the skeletons of the royal family hanging from the trees was very eerie!

I enjoyed the subtle spin on the Cinderella retelling with the evil stepsister Lana, and the ‘quest’ to steal the glass crown from the palace. I thought it was very well done and not a cringey retelling rip off.

In terms of the characters, I absolutely loved Vanya. She was so strong willed, brave & kind. She loves her twin sister Lumi fiercely and would do anything to protect her and gain their freedom. The romance between Vanya and Dimitri was definitely a slow burn, but they became each others comfort.

The book ended on a cliffhanger and I’m absolutely chomping at the bit for the next book!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!

I really liked this book a lot. The story was a fun twist on Cinderella I’d say it’s a very loose retelling but it was good. I enjoyed the characters and the plot was interesting. I’m very excited for the next book. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I love that this book had Dual POV, because I always want to see what both characters are thinking. Especially now they’re feeling about each other when we aren’t sure. I loved Vanyas story from the very beginning. Including her confident attitude. Example, she always stated how she felt and expressed her opinions. She stands strong on what she believes and how she feels.

I loved reading about Dimitri’s revenge plot, and seeing his reasonings on why he’s going along with it and to me, I completely understand. It left me anxious about what they should expect, especially since the book ended with a cliffhanger lol.

Storm can definitely write a story with an amazing plot and interesting characters. I will be following her work in the future. If you love fantasy romance, enemies to lovers and Dual POV… this book is for you!

This book is 1 of 2.
4.5 out of 5
Cinderella meets a dystopian society.
Vanya is a poor girl growing up in a town where poor means you are used and spit out without so much as a second thought. Just across the bridge are the nobles and the prince.
By a twist of fate (and maybe some good fortune from the goddess or family bloodline) Vanya finds herself impersonating the princess set to marry the crown prince.
As Vanya falls more for Dimi she also discovers something more in herself….she has magical power inside of her. This power proves that she is more than just the poor girl everyone thought she was. She has some seriously powerful descendants. Vanya is set to discover that there is more than meets the eyes to not just her sister but also to Dimi.
The book leaves you on a serious cliff hanger and leaves you desperate to know what happens next.
Every girl secretly wants to be a seriously badass princess and this book delivers on a girls fantasy to be just that.
Thank you again for this ARC!

I couldn’t put this book down and read it in 2 sittings.

The world created was described so well that I could imagine it vividly. And the character development was on point! Vanya and Dimitri’s story was just so well done. I loved the slow burn and appreciated that their attraction to each other was well fleshed out, not insta love and not even reliant on physical appearance; as a lot of books can be. It made it all that more relatable.

Not only their love story, but their own personal development was endearing to see play out over the course of the story. Their personalities didn’t just evolve; they developed for a reason and the reasons were clearly laid out.

I don’t want to write spoilers but something happens toward the end, If you know you know, which had better reverse itself!!!

My one slight gripe was that there was a lot of inner monologue. A lot of telling vs showing and that was a bit frustrating for me personally. Having said this, I really look forward to reading the next instalment and see where the story goes from here!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc.

A turn I never expected!

I’ll be honest, when I first started reading this book, it took me a few goes to get into it. Around the 3rd time I knew I had to give it a better chance and I’m so glad I did!!

The way the other describes the surroundings makes you feel like you’re there with them. You can picture the dresses that are worn. The masks the solider wear. You feel the emotions of the characters.

My favourite part about the book is that you get both POV from the male and female, we need more of that and Liv delivered!
It definitely gives Cinderella vibes and I loved it! I would of given it 5 stars but I feel like a bit more detail could of gone into certain areas as at some points I was left confused and had to re-read to see if I missed something but it wasn’t there.

The ending had me sitting up and waiting to see what happened, I was begging for the ending I wanted and I hope this happens in the next!

I definitely want to read the second book and I will be leaving a review for that too!

This is one of those books where, when I put the book down, I forgot everything had happened. The characters were fine, but very not very complex. We get random snatches into their lives and background, but not enough for me to feel connected to them.

The world was classic fairytale, but not much time was spent developing it. It all read very surface level to me. While I was interested in finding out what happened next while reading, I wasn’t invested in the story or any of the characters goals/motives. The only interesting character was Lumi and she was barely in the book. I wish this had been longer, we had spent more time interacting with all the other characters. After finishing the entire book, it felt like I just read a few first chapters.

I also didn’t really see the Cinderella retelling, we deal with evil step-family and a random shoe, but really nothing other than that. Maybe I just lack the capacity to connect the dots, or maybe I just don’t like retellings.

Vanya, a thief in magical thrall to her greedy stepfather, is forced to impersonate a foreign princess (Helia) in order to save her twin sister and pay off their debt. The prince, Dimitri, is busy attempting to get revenge against his murderous father and has no time to deal with his unwanted bride-to-be. Sparks fly (and cities burn) when these two unlikely (and sometimes unwilling) champions of responsible government clash against the pseudo-medieval Russian regime (and one another).

My first impression of this book was Cinderella meets Halloween decor. The descriptive prose is quite cliched for the most part, providing dark princess vibes rather than true grit or horror. That said, the writing clearly has potential with the guidance of a better editor. (There were a lot of typos! Although the only truly confusing error was the repeated use of the word telepathy instead of telekinesis.)

Despite my initial reservations, the actual story was great. The tropes expected of a YA romance (magic twins, mistaken identity, insta-love) were executed brilliantly. Both the protagonists were fully fledged characters with their own motivations grounded in their previous experiences or lack thereof. Although insta-lust does occur, they don't fall into bed (for kissing and a massage only) until they actually start getting to know each other. The adults similarly acted like real people rather than caricatures dreamed up by sulky teenagers (which is my biggest pet peeve in YA fiction). Even better, everyone who interacted closely with Vanya as Helia was suspicious of her and their reasons for letting the situation continue without comment were explained.

The only world building element that felt lacking was Vanya's relationships with her sister and step-sister. But it also seems like those characters will see more action in the sequel.

In summary, this is a slightly dark, gloriously tropey, YA romance retelling of Cinderella. Everything is done right except for the copyediting. But if you can look past that, anyone into YA fantasy will love this book. I am now happily waiting for the next installment.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy of this ebook.

I was captivated by this dark fairytale retelling from the beginning! The author’s writing style is rich and descriptive, and she builds a unique world and magic system. I did get confused with the world building at times, but there is a helpful guide in the beginning of the book. The story loosely follows Cinderella, but gives the characters more depth and growth. The tension between Vanya and Dimitri is top tier and I am eager see how their relationship continues to evolve. I will definitely be reading the next book in this duology, which is scheduled for release in February 2024!

"Stealing Glass" is the first chapter of "Tales of Bones and Roses," a fantasy romance duology, Cinderella retelling, written by Liv Strom and currently in progress.

Captivating, sizzling, and captivating book featuring a charming setting, evocative writing, excellent plot, and well-constructed characters. A Cinderella dark retelling in which subterfuge, deception, fights, thefts, dances and mysteries are deftly combined to create an intriguing mixture, sprinkled with a good, tasty dose of slow burn romance. A read that I enjoyed a lot and left me with a powerful need to read the sequel!

I loved the writing! Evocative, lyrical and at times poetic, accompanied by vivid descriptions and brilliant dialogues, convinced me from the very first lines. I loved the mysterious and dark undertones of the story, as well as the more painful and turbulent ones. In my opinion, the author manages to beautifully paint the various settings, as well as carefully portray the different characters. I was able to clearly imagine the different places, and on more than one occasion I confess that I was moved by some of the situations narrated. In addition, the fast pace combined with the short chapters make it an easy read to devour!

The world building is wonderful! Tal, the City of the Dead, has captured me! It is a city where the spirits of the dead move in incorporeal and luminous form among the streets! Help, I found it simply stunning! In addition, I appreciated Tal's division into zones, as well as its turbulent atmosphere due to the inequality between royalty, and more generally nobles, and the poor forced into starvation and misery. As I mentioned above this is a well-developed setting, beautifully realized in its contrasts, its desperation and its oppression. Also I enjoyed the magic system quite a bit!

The plot intrigued me! Light, dynamic and effervescent, it proceeds full of action and events. Court intrigues, deceptions, subterfuges and power plays are combined with fights, thefts, riots and magic, creating a highly entertaining mixture. To which is added a hearty dose of slow burn romance that made me swoon! I admit that I spotted the various plot twists earlier than expected, but this does not affect my high appreciation.

I loved Vanya and Dimitri, protagonists with their first person povs! Vanya is a skilled thief stuck in a suffocating situation. Deprived of her mother, who died of a brutal plague, and her younger brother, who died of a disease curable with money, she has never known the identity of her father and is left alone with her beloved twin sister Lumi. Both live with their unpleasant half-sister and their cruel stepfather, an unscrupulous usurer. Deeply in debt to the man, they have been forced to turn to theft in order to pay off the debt and be free. Vanya is a character who has been through a lot. She lives in difficult conditions, surrounded by misery and wickedness, afflicted by despair and deep doubts. Yet despite her oppressive circumstances, she is unwilling to be bowed down. She hates to steal, does not want to hurt people, and usually, when she has to strike, targets the noble who have a lot. She loves to dance and longs to escape the city to build a new, better and happy life with her twin sister. She is a determined, courageous, intelligent, ironic and loyal girl with a deeply sensitive soul. A multifaceted character with an evolution that I highly enjoyed! Also, I loved the relationship between her and her twin sister Lumi!

Dimitri, in turn, won me over. Crown prince of Tal, in appearance he is a dark, proud, surly, standoffish and reserved boy. A person who under the armor of biting irony hides a caring and wounded soul, marked by a painful past. I cannot say more to avoid spoilers, but he is a well-analyzed and in-depth character who made me melt repeatedly!

The relationship between Vanya and Dimitri is mind blowing! They do not start off in the best of ways: Vanya is tasked by her stepfather to sneak into the palace, during Dimitri's betrothal ball, to retrieve the precious glass crown displayed only on rare occasions. And Dimitri ends up discovering and pursuing her, just to catch her and mistake her for his mysterious foreign betrothed, whom he has never met before. And things only get worse when Vanya, with her sister's life on the line, is forced to keep up the charade and proceed to the wedding. Too bad Dimitri has agreed to get married to carry out his revenge plans and doesn't really want a bride. I loved so much the construction of their relationship! It is a slow burn that made me sweat a lot at times! Their interactions are sizzling, the chemistry explosive, and the banter funny and teasing. Vanya and Dimitri slowly get to know each other, coming to support and talk to each other about their problems! I loved them and need to have more of them!

All in all, this is an excellent start to the series, which I recommend to lovers of fantasy romance and fairy tale retellings!

"There was no desperation, we were not saving each other or distracting guards. His hand was warm in mine. The light reflected in his eyes like stars. We were people instead of prince, princess, or thief."

Stealing glass follows our main protagonist, Vanya, a thief who is trying to seek freedom alongside her twin sister, Lumi, and for that they'll have to pay off the debt they owe to their evil stepfather. After a failed heist, Vanya is tasked with stealing the glass crown from a royal ball, the plan takes a whole another turn when she gets caught stealing the crown by Dimitri, the prince himself, who confuses her for the foreign princess, his betrothed who no one has ever seen before. desperate to save her twin sister whose life is on the line and pay off their debt, Vanya now has to put on an act and impersonates the princess and marries the prince, who has no desire to get married but is only doing it for his own revenge plans.

I really loved writing pace for this one and the immersive world building and setting filled with romance, magic. royalty and betrayals all together which were absolutely well written as well, liv executed it perfectly. I absolutely loved and adored Vanya. She is so wild strong, brave and kind girl who loves to dance and loves her twin sister fiercely and the princess I never knew I needed. We also get to see the depth of Dimitri's character which I really liked as well. His character gets a tiny bit of development in this book and I hope to see more of it in the next book hopefully. I fell in love with their relationship, They don't really start off on the right foot, they're both stubborn and don't agree on the same stuff, but their interactions and chemistry were so sizzling and are to live for. My favorite thing about them was their banter, they were always at each others throat and then slowly became each others comfort and them coming to support, help and talk to each other about their problems was very endearing because it made them both feel alive and safe with each other, and I cant wait to see more of them in the next book. I loved the tale retelling and how Liz Storm used her own way to create a wonderful immersive world with well written and loveable characters and an interesting plot that keeps you capitative

Overall, I loved this book immensely and cant wait to see what happens next in Claiming Glass.
I would recommend this book to all the slow burn royalty fantasy romance and fairytale retellings readers out there, Stealing Glass comes out October 20th so make sure to add it to your TBR!

This Cinderella reimagining swept me off my feet! The world is romantically gritty and gorgeously imaginative. Vanya, the heroine, is clever, capable, and kind. Her light is in perfect contrast to Dimitri’s vengeful, wounded nature. She’s easy to root for, and Dimitri is an intriguing love interest! Who doesn’t love a dark-haired, brooding man dressed in all black who loves his faithful pet gryphon?

I adored reading about these two navigating their intertwining plots. The tension and chemistry between them was fantastic. The supporting characters were just as interesting, so much so that I need to read stories about them too! While the story is building a romance, it doesn’t ignore the platonic and familial relationships. Vanya and Lumi’s love is achingly well-rendered in a way that will resonate with anyone who has a sister, and paint a picture for anyone who doesn’t.

Strom doesn’t hold back on the feelings. I felt the whole spectrum of human emotion reading this story. The grief of loss, the anxiety of pulling off the most dangerous heist Vanya has ever attempted, the vicious fury Dimitri has for those who wronged him, the precious love between sisters, the companionship of a friend who will stand by Dimitri’s side no matter what, and the desire to create a better tomorrow by any means necessary—it was all so gripping. I’m looking forward to the next installments in the series!

Stealing Glass by Liv Strom is the first book of the young/new adult fantasy duology the Tales of Bones and Roses. This is a Cinderella retelling where the FMC is a thief.

The Lovely: I loved the concept of the story and the twist on the traditions, Cinderella concept, especially with the FMC being feisty and mostly able to hold her own. There is also some interesting world building around the role Spirits play in the world.

The Mundane: Its a bit unclear if this is intended to be young adult or new adult. The FMC is “barely into adulthood” and she seems to act and think more like a teenager. However, this seems at odds with the fact that her and her twin sister are supposedly these top tier thieves. This just didn’t really make sense to me.

The Dreadful: The flow and tension of the story came across as a bit chaotic. It felt like there were too many sub-plots and storylines competing for attention and this limited my feeling of getting invested in the characters.

Rating: 3/5 Stars

Recommendation: I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily. i would recommend this book to young adult readers (maybe late teens) who like fairy tale retellings with a strong FMC.

3.5 stars for me!

Vanya is a thief trying to pay off the debt that herself and her twin sister owe to their evil-stepfather. When a heist at the Palace goes wrong, Vanya ends up in an even higher stakes situation where she finds her impersonating Princess Helia, the Prince's betrothed.

I enjoy a good fantasy romance so I was excited to be offered the chance to read this one, I really enjoyed the setting and the world building around the city of Tal. I thought the author did a great job of giving the city a dark, spooky vibe which was perfect for this time of year.

I gave it a 3.5 as I found myself a little lost in the story/characters at times and I had to go back and reread to make sure I understood what was happening. Overall though I enjoyed the story of Vanya and Prince Dimitri, I look forward to reading the second one as that cliffhanger at the end really got me!

Strom managed to weave a dark and twisted fairytale world, that I wasn’t ready to leave.
The world of Vanya goes back to the roots of the Grimm fairytales reflected by hanging trees, magic bargains, and the importance of knowing who to trust in a world of lies.

My biggest critique is Stealing Glass could have been marketed as an original fairytale rather than catering to the story-beats of Cinderella.
The first half of the book was engaging the second half was so intricate that in its complexity nothing was driving the plot forward, until the very end chapters.
It would have helped to focus on Vanya’s perspective rather than Dimitri’s as nothing in the plot would have been lost.

With that said a solid debut and I will be reading the next one.

It was a rather quick read, with a very interesting universe and a pretty strong plot. Unfortunately, the two main characters did not grasp my attention the way the universe did.
What I liked was the double POV because I learned more about each character through these POV. However, other characters (like Lumi) were way more interesting to me than Vanya, and I was a little bit intrigued by Alexei (when Dimitri did not interested me as much).
I did not really enjoy the romance between the two either. It was very (very) quick, and I prefer when there’s a build-up and when it’s way slower. Nonetheless I will probably read the sequel, because the ending was quite engaging.

Stealing Glass by Liv Storm - 4/5 ⭐

A dark retelling of Cinderella?! I mean you don't really need anything more then that to sell you but I'll give it a whirl.

Vanya is our FMC and I adored her! I mean how can you not, she's your typical Cinderella girl and she's the kind of character you loving reading about. There is great character description from the get go which really helps set the scene.

There is so much intrigue in this book, it's not your bog standard retelling and it sucks you in. There's a great story line with great characters and the whole thing was exceptional. Storm has nailed this one and I can't wait to see more.

Thank you to NetGalley and SM Press for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.

I love fairytale retellings so was really excited to read this book and it did not disappoint! It really turned the cinderella story upside down and told it in a way that I have not seen before. I won't spoil the story but will say the book includes some interesting world building, particularly around the use of magic, and I found myself reading it really quickly to find out more about the characters backstories. I enjoyed the family dynamics and character development. The core romance was well written and not very spicy. I will definitely be reading the next book In the series and would also try out other titles by this author. If you like fairytales and slow burn romance, this book is for you. I will warn you that there is a storyline around the loss of a child and some mention of sexual assault, which may be triggering for some readers.

What if Cinderalla was a thief - a commoner?

What if the fairy tale you've read were turned upside down on it's head?

What if the Prince is not marrying for love?

And this is one of those books that is a retelling upside down. Strom did a great job of bringing to life characters and creating a storyline that is both entertaining and exciting.

3.75 stars...this is different spin on the Cinderella fairytale. I liked it. Lots if intrigue, royal politics, plagues, thievery, betrayal, plots, curses, a budding romance, and magic of course. The characters are lovable and I like the way the story is going. I will continue with this series. Yes if you enjoy a good fairytale retelling and magic I would recommend this book.

Stealing Glass Liv Strom ARC Review

A Cinderella retelling if Cinderella was a thief and the Prince was out for revenge.

This is not like any Cinderella story I have ever read....its 100% better with lots of intrigue. I could not put this book down, it was absolutely gripping. I was hooked onto this story from the very first line.

A poor motherless girl living with a sister, stepsister and her vile stepfather. Forced into a life of a thief to earn her and her sisters freedom from her stepfathers grasp. A prince that will do anything to acquire the revenge he so desperately needs.

Enemy to Lovers

Stealing Glass is a dual POV and I absolutely loved that. I felt that this connected me not only to the main female (Vanya) but also to the main male ( Dimitri). You got to know how each of them felt and what they were thinking. I hope this carrying on in book 2.

The plot of this story is so interesting it sucks you in and doesn’t let go. The character building is fantastic and so well developed. There is alot of characters in this book that you get introduced to but I found I didn’t get lost with who is who as each character is so deep and well written.

The world of Tal is extensive with its magic, social order, and of course griffins! I was left wanting to learn more about the magic system and griffins.

Overall, Stealing Glass is amazing and I highly recommend reading it! This story has all the main ingredients for a breathtaking fantasy series.

A big Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this amazing opportunity to read and review this ARC

Very fun read! Sometimes a bit quick, missing explanations of surroundings, clothes, who is and isn't present in the room anymore etc, but overall, definitely fun!!

Vanya embarks on a perilous mission to secure her and her sister's freedom, leading her to an audacious plan to steal the coveted glass crown and settle their debts with their stepfather. However, when circumstances take an unexpected turn, Vanya must assume the identity of the princess intended to wed Prince Dimitri, all in a desperate bid to protect her sister's life. Who can Vanya actually trust in the city of the dead, Tal?

“Stealing Glass” by Liv Strom is a Cinderella story but with twists. I like the changes to the classic Cinderella story. The gritty and dark setting of the city, the pretend princess being a thief who is daring and brave, and Dimitri being on a mission for revenge are some of my favorite parts. I especially like the twists at the end that I did not see coming. I cannot wait for book two in the series. 5 out of 5 stars, perfect.

I dont know why kindle thinks I read this last year when in truth I only opened it. But I FINALLY FINISHED for real and I enjoyed it.
Interesting world building and set up for the twist on Cinderella.
I think it's a little over written at times, but I am still invested.

Not just another dark Cinderella retelling, and I adored it. This was a beautifully sick and twisted fairy tale dream. Seriously, who even thinks of these spins? The vibe in Tal? Top-tier spookiness. Vanya? The princess I never knew I needed. I absolutely loved the intricate weaving of the plot and the fresh take on a tale as old as time. My only reason for docking a star is the ending with her sister. It felt like a left turn on a straight road, like the author suddenly remembered she existed and tried to weave her back into the narrative. Despite this, it's an enthralling read, and the world-building, the plot, the characters: all chef's kiss.
