A good, chunky, unapologetically balls to the wall thriller of the old school variety, ‘Provo’ boasts a finely meshed, highly researched and persuasively plausible double narrative (the Provisional IRA’s planning and execution of a “spectacular” set against the security services’ attempt to piece together the various threads and move to prevent it) that recalls Frederick Forsyth on top form. The last eighty pages or so achieve remarkable pitch of sustained intensity.

Written in 1993, chilling fiction in retrospect after various conspiracy theories regarding Princess Di's death. The action gets bogged down in too many minute details at times, although is fast paced and keeps you in suspense. Plot revolves around 2 women, one working for the Provisional IRA and the other M15.
