This book was a true rollercoaster of emotions. There is nothing better to me than reading a book that leaves me with a high when I finish it. I was speechless afterwards and it took me hours to sort out my emotions! This book does cover a dark theme so make sure you check the triggers prior to reading.

Breaking Through to You by Alyssa Milani is book one in the Breaking Through to You series and it was good. If you love friends to lovers, second chance, and soulmates then you will love this book.
After being stood up on a blind date Ophelia Jones meets Treyton Spencer a chef at the restaurant where she was stood up. They soon become the best of friends because Treyton doesn’t do relationships. Henry Municz her date that stood her up asks her for a second chance after realizing she’s not like the boring girls his mom sets him up with. Realizing that Treyton won’t do relationship she gives Henry a chance. Their relationship moves pretty quickly and it does not take very long for the red flags to show with Henry.
Alyssa does such a good job with this story and it took me on such an emotional rollercoaster. The characters were so well written and so were the side characters. I enjoyed the banter between Ophelia and Treyton, they had the best relationship. I loved Alexander thought he was the best. I felt like these characters were real. The domestic abuse Ophelia went through with Henry was so hard to go through with her, it felt like my best friend was going through this and I couldn’t save her. I’m curious to know if Olivia and Georgia know what happened and how they reacted. I hope we find out in book two, I’m ready!! Thank you so Alyssa Milani and Nisha’s Books and Coffee for letting me read this in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.
This is a book that is going you through our two characters long friendship to lovers. Because of some of the things it focuses on you are going to have many types of feelings in this very long but great story. Ophelia meets Treyton while being stood up on a blind date and from that first meeting they hit things off. And these two have one heck of a story and with a shocking ending to this book you will get to read about them in the second part to their story in book 2. This book is full of so much angst and has some spice and even a love triangle. And I won’t give too much away there. The author does such a good job of making the story, plot and even the characters so relatable and is easy to connect too. Please be prepared as this does deal with domestic violence so if that is a sensitive subject proceed with caution. Also be prepared for a devastating ending that I hope is temporary and the ending they deserve is in book 2. But get read for a emotional crazy ride of Ophelia and Treyton’s journey.
This was such a sweet story, that was equally heartbreaking as it was heartwarming. I love second chance romance and it was so well done. Comedic relief came at all the right times. There was some back and forth so you just want to yell at the characters to just see what is in front of them!! But it was all in a good way because you’re invested in the story!
I felt a lot of emotions in this one but overall loved it. The ending had me shook and I honestly didn’t know this wasn’t a standalone so now I’ll be patiently waiting for the next book. It doesn’t leave off on a cliffhanger though but it is an interconnected series.
It does cover domestic abuse so please know this before going into reading it.
This book releases today!! So go and get your hands on it 😍
Ophelia is fed up with her dating life, and she agrees to a blind date, who stands her up in a fancy restaurant, and she decides to drown her sorrows. Treyton is a waiter in the restaurant, and he and Ophelia have an instant connection, but he is not looking for any relationships. When Ophelia agree to a date with Henry, the guy who stood her it, it does not take long for red flags to appear. Will Treyton and Ophelia ever get a chance at being together? This is a good story which is an emotional roller coaster, with friends / lovers, challenges, family, friendships, intrigue, and is a dark romance which is enjoyable. I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.
4/5 ⭐ ARC REVIEW!!! what an eventful story! this book follows opehlia and treyton. ophelia wants a relationship, but treyton doesn't, so they stay just friends while ophelia starts dating a different guy. this is your typical friends to lover's trope. treyton realizes what he's missing and ophelia starts realizing that the relationship she's in isn't good and that she wants to be with treyton. i defineltly didn't know that this book was going to be a series, so i was expecting a different ending for sure, but can't wait to read the next one and continue on with their love story.
thank you Alyssa Milani and Grey's Promotions for this arc in exchange for my honest review!
Ophelia having been stood up by her blind date finds solace in a new friend. Treyton has sworn off relationships which changes the course of his connection to Ophelia in ways they never intended. While she has always loved him she has moved on with another as his Treyton avoids his feelings but remains her confidant. Things get complicated and messy as the story progresses and takes too long before it can resolve into a love that should have been. This heartbreaking and complex storyline was well done and with a devastating end that has me on edge. I am highly anticipating the next installment.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
ups and downs This book had me on an emotional roller coaster ride, I understand wanting to be appreciate for who you are, not only what you look like, I understand rather abstaining from relationships than being hurt over and over again, I believe everybody deserves a second chance, but all our wishes come with a price, if you don´t open up to others, you might not get hurt but you will always be alone. So I suffered along with the progagonists about the decisions they had to make.
There’s so much to love about Ophelia and Treyton’s relationship. The banter between the two of them is top tier. Their friendship and eventual relationship is so fun and refreshing.
Unfortunately Ophelia is so desperate to be loved, she would be with just about anyone on the planet. And the fact she stayed with Henry even after she found out about the car accident and who it took… absolutely mind blowing
Almost every character was unlikable in this story besides Trey, he deserves the world
I loved and hated this book. It broke me and it was hard to read once Henry started showing his true colors. This is a very hard subject to read about for me, I was raised in this environment and growing up I never understood why the excuses and why the need to protect them from being exposed. In the other hand I loved her and Treytone story, how much he loved her and showed her and asked her to wait for him. Can't wait for book 2... we need a happy ending ❤️
This book had me hooked from the very beginning. The fmc was such a great someone I could imagine being friends with.
The 2 males who are fighting for her, one her bff the other is a blind date who stands her up. This whole novel I was rooting for the bff for so many reasons.
Ophelia is waiting for her blind date to,show and meets Treyton who is a waiter instead. They instantly connect and the adventure begins. They become friends because he doesn’t believe in girlfriends. Enter Henry the blind date who didn’t show up. Want to know where this goes. Read the book and enjoy
It's not teeerrible, but the writing OMG. Soooo repetitive. I get it, he doesn't believe in relationships. You said it 1000 times! Also, why is Treyton's fault that she ended up with Henry? I mean, yeah, he said he was good for her but does she HAVE TO be with one or the other? can't she be alone until she loves the man? So irritating

In this romance read, you can expect an emotional roller coaster with plenty of spice. Follow Ophelia’s journey of trying to figure out where she belongs.. I don’t wanna admit how many times this book made me cry, laugh, and scream. Thank you, Alyssa this is exactly the journey I needed to be in this week.
This is a great story of how an independent, cute girl, Ophelia, got involved with Henry, a 29-year-old handsome successful man until she was dependent on him, and without a friend she could rely on. It was not a cliffhanger even though I am looking forward to the second book of this duet.
I had so much fun reading this book and all my emotional boxes were checked. The ups and downs had me hooked and I can’t wait to see what the next book has to offer.
Hmm idk about this one. It had me in the beginning but I ended up disliking Ophelia and was never really rooting for her. I think the book was way too long for the story..
This book was amazing. It was hard to read due to content, but it was so worth it. If you like Colleen Hoover It Ends With Us then you will enjoy this book. The characters are amazing, and I loved finding out how it ended between the characters. I hope there will be more for these characters.
The story of Ophelia & Trenton was a very sad story in that she wanted him but he didn’t want a relationship. Yet they became friends & basically had the relationship she wanted without the title he didn’t want.
Ophelia ends up in a relationship with Henry, who by all accounts seems like a good guy but hen red flags start popping up & despite seeing them she just ignores them & stays because the man she really wants doesn’t want the relationship.
It takes until, basically the end of the book, something horrible happens for the two of them to finally realize what they had and what they want with one another.
I was not really expecting the ending I don’t know why I had it in my mind that it was a standalone but I was very sad for them because they had this happiness that they couldn’t contain & then it was shattered.
I will definitely be curious how the next book plays out & if they can work through these next trials.
Tropes: -friends to lovers -second chance -soul mate
This book was a first for me by this author and it was so well written. It took me on a roller coaster of emotions. Ophelia is the FMC and she meets by chance, Treyton who is the MMC, when he date stands her up. They hit it off but while she is ready to be in a relationship, he is not. She finally goes on a date with the guy that stood her up and while he is the son of her mother's friend at first he seems like a good guy. Soon after, however, red flags keep popping up. Ophelia stays with him but always runs to Treyton as her go to for everything.
This book does cover a dark theme so make sure to check it out before you read. It definitely got me in the feels but Alyssa did such a good job telling the story. I cannot wait for book two which will continue their story.
Thank you to Alyssa Milani and Grey's Promotions for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review.
I like how easy it is reading Alyssa's books. I just fly through them. I don't know how to rate this book. On one side I liked the story, especially the beginning, when Ophelia hung out with Treyton and they were flirting and getting to know each other, I loved their chemistry, and the epilogue, even though it was sad. But on the other side I hated reading about Ophelia's relationship with Henry. It kind of put me off. But at the same time domestic abuse is serious and very scary. The story seriously stressed me out. Ophelia was constantly running away from her problems and denied everything. Henry's actions were a red flag from the beginning and I just wished Ophelia would admit everything to herself and not defend him anymore. When she kept saying if only T would have snapped out of his funk and confessed, everything that happened to her wouldn't have happened, it pissed me off because it seemed like she was blaming him for both of their actions. She was the one who stayed, after all, and kept making excuses for everything. She was the one desperate enough for a relationship to stay in abusive one. She did know T's reasoning behind not wanting a relationship. I guess she just wasn't strong enough to admit anything. But at the same time you can never predict how one will react in a situation like that and who am I to say, if the same happened to me, I would react any differently. There was a million ways everything could've gone and this was just the path they chose. I don't know, it's a though one so I'll just leave it without a rating. I could give it 5 stars because it was written and portrayed very well, but at the same time 3 stars because it just isn't something I enjoyed reading about. I mean who does yk? I did predict Henry killed T's ex tho. I still think that will come back to bite him. O and T deserve happiness (if H got it, why not them) and after the epilogue I need a happy ending for them or a beginning, so I am looking forward to the next book.
