This is a really short and sweet graphic novel for those younger readers who are interested in graphic works. While there isn't much plot or characterization, I think that younger audiences will appreciate the humor found in each story. The artwork is simplistic, yet appealing to the eye. I'll definitely check out the next installment in this series which comes out next year.

So there's a marshmallow, a pizza slice, a donut and a potato, all living in the same house. Don't ask – just don't. After the arch way the mallow introduces the pizza slice to us the reader – and not the other way round, note – there's a drama where all the characters lose their cherished pets. Then one where the mallow gains a scooter that has a surprising attachment, leading to surprising destinations aplenty. But seeing both those stories have unlikely ways in which to form friendships, it's a bit disappointing to find the last piece a simpler yuck job concerning a button and what pressing it causes. This is very broad stuff, high on the quirk but with good results. As an early-read comic it's fine, even if nobody will ever declare it high literature. It's purely for wacky entertainment and nothing else, and for a few minutes at least it delivers on that.
This is super chaotic and silly and fun. It gives Pizza and Taco (Who's the Best?) vibes. Not just because they are both stories with food as the characters (that actually freaks me out a little bit. also why does food have actually animals as pets... Although I do love Potato and his cat).
I think I’m too old for that kind of humour. The characters felt too childish and the plot was all over the place. I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed Slice of Mallow even as a child.
[I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.]
An enjoyable and quick read with vibrant colors.. Each character is well drawn and cute/adorable.. plus are very expressive with their reactions… The little bits of humor every now and then was nice..
A short comic for children. The art is really cute and the stories are cute. It could have been slightly longer with maybe one or two added stories, but its good for the first comic in the series
First sentence: Hi, I'm Mallow the Marshmallow. I can stretch! I can squish! I'm loveable! I'm excitable! Who are you talking to Mallow? The reader. The reader? Where? There!
Premise/plot: Slice of Mallow is a graphic novel early chapter book. It stars Mallow and friends--all foods, mostly except for the ghost). Is there a plot? Is having no plot a plot?
My thoughts: I am NOT the target audience for this one. Notice how I didn't *have* to say that about the other early chapter books I reviewed today. Because though I am not the target age of the target audience, I thoroughly ENJOYED the books. This one offers little plot, little characterization, and overloads on the ridiculous silliness. Which may prove appealing to some readers--young readers. I just wanted my time back. And that is rare for me to say that about a book with so few pages.
