At the end of every horror movie, one girl always survives...in this case, Cassie Hack not only survives, she turns the tables by hunting and destroying the horrible slashers that would do harm to the innocent!
A hefty brick of critically acclaimed horror goodness! Cassie & Vlad are launched into a new slasher hunt as they descend into a vast, dark conspiracy and must face old enemies, Victor Crowley (from the Hatchet series), Bomb Queen, Fantomah, and teenage pop music fans!
This HACK/SLASH DELUXE edition collects issues #1-11 of Hack/Slash volume 2 as well as the HATCHET/SLASH crossover, the MURDER MESSIAH annual and the ZOMBIES vs. CHEERLEADERS crossover.
Also includes a brand new bonus story by Tim Seeley and Dan Leister!
Tim Seeley is a comic book artist and writer known for his work on books such as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, The Dark Elf Trilogy, Batman Eternal and Grayson. He is also the co-creator of the Image Comics titles Hack/Slash[1] and Revival, as well as the Dark Horse titles, ExSanguine and Sundowners. He lives in Chicago.
Hack/Slash Deluxe Vol 4 collects 11 issues of the comic as well as a number of cross-overs. The different stories covered feature Cassie Hack and Vlad as they carve their way through a number of Slashers (reanimated serial killers). There are different art styles throughout the collection, depending upon the tale, something which some readers may find jarring (I personally did not care for the artwork in the Hatchet/Slash crossover). While most of the stories are entertaining, the current story-line involves the return of some villains which the pair has already encountered. Some of these work well, while others feel like retreads. Hopefully the next collection will feature all new villains.
The story begins to droop here, in my opinion. The series reuses a few previous slashers to tell itself and there's some weird plotline with the black lamp society. The standalone runs are good but it definitely falls a bit flat compared to the earlier volumes. Still, it's fun and certain new characters make for an exciting ride.
