This is a super cute, middle grade graphic novel series that I think kids will really enjoy. In this one we are following Liv as she and her classmates are given an assignment at a greenhouse. We get some new characters but we also get Liv and her two best friends working alongside one another. The illustrations are beautiful and I’m all for a spooky middle grade series.

Books one and three are tied as my favorite (but if I must choose, I do lean towards three, as I am a bit of a fan of the snappy dragons). Yes, you should read them in order (and two is still fang-tastic), I liked the idea of plants taking over the theme of being different (though cuddle vines I'm on the fence about). The usual cute, bright, bold colors and the right amount of details tops things off.

Really loved this volume of the Spirited series! This one has them finding plants that represent themselves and trying to trek that journey can be hard! It had some great morals and pictures!! Can’t wait for the next volume!

Ghosts and gloomy plants pack tons of surprises, which are sure to delight more than just paranormal fans.

Liv is the only 100% human girl in Gloomsdale, a town of ghosts and a few other paranormal creatures. To say she doesn't really fit in is an understatement, and it gets to her sometimes. Since she's still somewhat new to the town, she hasn't really found her place and wonders if she ever will. The ghosts, while fairly friendly, still enjoy poking fun at her inability to do anything ghostly. And having them 'accidentally' float through her is just plain awful! When the teacher announces the annual gardening class project, she's sure things will end with a new disaster.

This is such a sweet read! There's a lovely balance between spooky creepiness, school drama, and enjoyable humor, which draws in. The nod towards darker gothic adds a hint of creepy possibilities, but instead of heading into spookiness, the setting creates unexpected and unique situations to bring more than a few smiles. Still, this read addresses problems many readers face in their own lives and will have them rooting for Liv the entire way through.

There are messages surrounding friendship and embracing your own uniqueness mixed into the ghostly surroundings. These are clear but drift right along into the story as Liv discovers more about the interesting town and its residents. It stays very much at the level of the intended age group and brings across enough familiar aspects to let readers settle right in.

Bright and bold graphics carry the tale, while the text offers just enough difficulty to push readers' skills a teeny-tiny bit while letting the enjoyable atmosphere of the story still capture with every scene. It's an enjoyable story which promises tons more fun to come.

'I guess you're right. Everything eventually finds it place. It's just hard not to feel like a wed growing through the sidewalk sometimes.'

We're so back! The concept of a ghost town having the weirdest plants might be slightly out there but it somehow works.

This was so heartwarming with a sweet message about belonging and I'm glad Liv found another friend in Eri. Her first ghost friend, in fact heh. Howl remains the cutest (the digging! LOL) and Vera the coolest. Mrs. Arber's intro with a white sheet over her and Liv asking if it's a ghost was hilarious.

Love the art as usual especially all the plant art.

#3 in series
Liv and friends are given an assignment for their class in the creepy greenhouse where they have to find a plant that represents themselves.
Old friends and a few new characters make this an enjoyable continuation to the series. It made me ponder what plant would represent me. Good story about friendship and that "you don't have to be like others to belong".

The third book in the Spirited graphic novel series and this time plants, new friends, and more!

I am really having fun with this series so of course, when I had the chance, I had to get the next two books in the series. I hope that by the time that this review comes up (I am writing this early December) there will be more volumes announced, because I definitely want more of this fun series!

In this third volume we see that Liv is doing much and much better at her new school (and in her new town). Yes, she still is getting used to the strangeness that is everything, I mean, if I went from normal human stuff to having ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and whatever else around? I would also not know what to do. Especially since sometimes the ghosts just don’t seem to understand that humans will never float, or will be able to float. Or go through walls. Thankfully, Liv has plenty of help and ingenuity to get out of situations or make the best of it. Like when the custodian of the school brought her a ladder because the door to home room was just way too high for humans.

Plus, we get a fun new addition, say hello to the greenhouse, a place I so wanted to visit even if it is a big dangerous (because of course ghosts don’t have normal plants all over, haha), plus an even more fun project. The kids have to bring along a plant that represents them. I was curious what Liv would pick and I was of course also curious what her friends would pick (OK, well, for wolfboy I had an idea, haha). The visit to the plant shop was oh so much fun (that shopkeeper just LOVES her plants), especially when we meet the girl who was so kind to Liv (such a sweet character). I loved seeing a friendship bloom, but also see what Liv picked for her project! It was a lot of fun and I was so proud of Liv because she definitely had her doubts at times, but it all got there in the end.

I just felt for the ghost kids, never being able to graduate it seems. I would have loved to see them at least go through school even though they don’t age. Unless they do and it was just unclear.

The art was a lot of fun again, just like in the previous two volumes. I do have to say that I didn’t recognise Liv when she just woke up and her hair was all wild and free. I was like, who is that girl? Oh, it is Liv. XD

Also can the cheerleader girl ghost just f off, I am sorry, but she is so annoying/obnoxious. Bleh!

The only thing I would say is that I wish the ghosts, those at school especially, would treat Liv a bit better. They go through her many times which I just found horrible rude because no thank you, but also made fun at her for being human. I get that she is the only human (other than her parents) in the town apparently, but still, come on. She is treating you all with respect as well.

All in all, I would recommend this series to everyone. Ghosts, magic, friendship, and more!
