Just finished this with my daughter. We received an advance copy.
A parent’s review: I loved the storyline, it was adorable, engaging and positive. Cloud Puppy went through a relatable strife with her best friend, it was a small part of the book but I loved how it was written, ending with a positive learning experience for the characters and something for kids to refer to if they have a similar experience in real life. The whole book was really sweet.
And it had some great tips on how to have a good time at a comic convention!
Kids review: I love the characters that she made. The ending was really good. I really enjoyed the whole book. I’m excited for the book to come out in colour. This copy didn’t have colour through the whole thing but I didn’t notice after a while because the story was just so good!
Highly recommend! The suggested age is 6-9 and I would agree. My daughter could read it but I would also read it to someone as young as 4 or earlier if they wanted.

This was an adorable kid’s graphic novel. Kids will find that Cloud Puppy and her friends experience relatable problems and will enjoy seeing how they were resolved. This book has super cute illustrations and I loved the bright color palette. This was an easy to read that young readers are sure to enjoy.

I read this with my daughter and we both loved it. Very relatable and lovable characters. Contains several great lessons for kids to learn while introducing them to unique situations and settings. Brb while I fold a billion pocket books for her to trade with her friends! We are very much looking forward to the next book.

Adorable introduction to comics for kids. The artwork is beautiful and the color palette is everything! Besides the story, this graphic novel is a delight to look at.

I received an advance copy of this book. What a cute story! I loved the conflict resolution between friends. As a teacher, this is a story I would buy for my classroom library! This is a book all kids can and will enjoy! Well written and perfect for the age group described!

So cute! This one will be fun in full color!
Loved how positive the story’s focus is and how easygoing Cloud Puppy’s mom is. A simple and really fun way to model different forms of compromise. And a nice story to center nerdier communities, I especially loved the tutorials for costume and comic making!

This book is so fun and SO CUTE!! I loved getting to know Cloud Puppy and her friends, and the conflicts they faced were true to life in a way that made the stories engaging and meaningful without ever feeling like an after school special. This book’s love for fandom made me wish I had a con to go to, and the characters’ joy for reading and making their own comics was infectious too. CLOUD PUPPY is the perfect next read for any young fantasy nerd!

I loved it, I could never stop reading this book because there’s so much friendship between the characters. I can’t wait to see if they make another Cloud Puppy comic book!!!!

Just an adorable story about a cloud puppy (half cloud, half puppy) and her friends. Just bubbly and a good time. Just AAAAAAAAAAAAWWWW! There are friendship issues, self-esteem issues and having fun situations.

Adorable characters wrapped up in a cloud of sweetness invite with friendship and fun in the most delightful ways.
Cloud Puppy is a huge Pretty Princess Warrior Dragonetta fan and can't believe that the author is going to be at a comic convention in town. Berry Rose is ready to go with her, and the two quickly create their costumes. But there's a misunderstanding and both are going to go as the princess warrior. There can't be two of the same character! Neither wants to give up on their costume idea, and the two refuse to speak to each other, but this might not be as great as either of them thinks.
Cloud Puppy is part cloud, part puppy, which might sound odd but makes her into a super cute character, especially since every ounce of her seems to be bursting with excitement and good vibes. Her best friend, Berry Rose, isn't much lower on the adorable-scale, and the two ensure a read bursting with happiness. This all-around-cheerfulness remains humming along in the background even when the two friends can't reach a compromise and refuse to speak to one another. It keeps the argument between the two from weighing down the tale, while allowing the message to come across loud and clear.
The text flows along nicely with the graphics, providing enough to keep the story going but allowing the illustrations to do their job as well. The vocabulary hits the intended reading level and does push the word skills to foster improvement. The chapter breaks are well placed to give the necessary pauses. The illustrations lean toward the light and colorful side, fitting to the atmosphere, and add the sweet, over-the-top emotional outbursts to keep the story fun and humorful.
It's a cute tale with messages to connect with and characters to enjoy. It will be fun to see where the adventures head next. I received a DRC and loved the happy vibes.

When Cloud Puppy went to the comic store to get the new volume of her favorite series, she noticed that there would be a comic convention, and the author of her favorite series would be there, too! Cloud Puppy went to her friend Berry Rose's house to share the good news. However, when Cloud Puppy told Berry Rose that they wanted to cosplay as their favorite character, they both wanted to be the same person and fought about it. Now, it's up to Cloud Puppy to make things right and regain their friendship.
The book was delightful!
The illustrations were incredibly charming, and every time Cloud Puppy appeared, I just wanted to reach out and give her a big hug. I felt a solid connection to Cloud Puppy because of her deep passion for comic books and drawing, which resonates with my interests.
I've had many fights with my sister about similar things, like liking the same person or stuff like that, so this book was very relatable. I have never been to a comic convention before, so reading this book made me want to go.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates heartwarming stories about friendship.

Cloud Puppy presents readers with an adorable character, fun art, and sweet stories of friendship and creativity. Cloud Puppy (as you probably guessed, she is part puppy and part cloud) is thrilled when she discovers that her favorite comic book author will be at the upcoming comic con. She and her best friend, Berry Rose plan to dress in matching costumes from their favorite series: Pretty Princess Warrior Dragonetta. But when it turns out they are both going as Dragonetta, they have a big fight which makes things awkward at the convention. Other stories in the book include Mossquatch's disappointment when his costume isn't recognized by others at the convention and Cloud Puppy and friends creating their own comics. In addition to the fun stories, the author/illustrator includes instructions at the back of the book for young readers to create their own comic books. A delightful beginning to a fun new series for young graphic novel fans.

She is thrilled to learn that her favorite author, Kit Starlight, is going to be at a comics convention that is also in her town! She has a Jackalope friend named Jack and a mossy Sasquatch named Mossquatch. But her best friend is Berry Rose - a teddy bear/unicorn/Pegasus mashup.

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this book to come out. My kiddos absolutely love Kelly Leigh Miller's picture books ("Time to Recharge, Harper" was a multiple-times-a-night bedtime story), and I've been so excited to see what Kelly would do in a long-form book.
Sometimes, all that anticipation can lead up to a "meh" result. Not so here! I adore this adorable book!
Kelly does an excellent job introducing/capturing the comic con experience - and all the joy and nervousness that goes with it. Anyone who has attended a Con will appreciate all the little details (boy, does this feel like walking into C2E2 or DragonCon), and I think kids who haven't gone before will be inspired to check one out.
Excellent world-building, pacing, and visual humor alongside kid-relatable drama that will pull any reader in and have them rooting for the heroes.

Sailor Moon’s relevance will never die! I mean Pretty Princess Warrior Dragonetta’s.
I was floored by the super cute designs and the simple but effective story. All the characters here are fusions (cloud puppies, bear unicorns, deer rabbits, etc), and it adds to the story's quirky charm.
Kids interested in nerd culture (anime, comics, superheroes, jrpgs, etc) will especially relate to the adventures here. Cloud Puppy visits her first comic convention but has a falling out with her best friend because they both want to cosplay asSailor Moon Dragonetta. Unthinkable!
Overall, this was so much fun to read. I would love to read more from this series or watch this become a cartoon.

Part cloud, part puppy, Cloud Puppy is your new favorite comic book star. When she learns that her favorite comic creator Kit Starlight is coming to a local comic con she is so excited to go with her best friend Berry Rose (part teddy bear part pegacorn) and cosplay together. But when they both want to dress up as the same character, they soon find themselves in their first ever fight.
Focusing mostly on friendship reconciliation, don't deceived by the super cutesy, pastel illustrations -- there's plenty of fandom delight to be had here.

Such a fun, joyful and passionate graphic novel! I loved the illustration style and how Cloud Puppy navigated her friendships with the other characters and a fight with her best friend. The comic convention parts did a great job of showing kiddos of how they work if they haven't been to one before. I especially loved the end where the characters get to make their own comics!! Also in the back were little guides on how to make your own comics which is sure to be a hit with my elementary school students!

CLOUD PUPPY is a cute, gentle, and colorful junior graphic novel that uses adorable fantasy creatures to tell a story that's relatable to kids--that of having a fight with your friend over something silly and finding the courage to say you're sorry. Kids who love comics and the culture around them will enjoy this one even more, as the major event of the story is a comic convention and dressing as favorite characters.

This was cute. I like how the friendship issues that Cloud Puppy goes through are relatable and realistic. I like how the book shows what a comic convention is like.
I'm not the biggest fan of the character design (like a half cloud/half dog, a bear/unicorn/?, etc.) but it doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the story.

I love this *absolutely adorable,* easy to digest & follow 150-page graphic novel for elementary kids! (And we are talking 150 pages including a few cute how-to pages! So cool!)

Very cute graphic novel for children! Cloud Puppy is going to her very first convention where her favorite author of all time is going to be signing books! She and her friends dress up but there's some tension about who gets to dress up as the main character. Oh no.

This was really cute. I knew my youngest would love this just based on the cover. Cloud Puppy and friends go to their first convention and write their own comics. They also learn some valuable friendships life lessons.

Cutesy graphic novel about a puppy made of clouds and her best friend who looks like a teddy bear with a unicorn horn. They are excited to attend a comic con but their friendship runs afoul on the costume plans. Great book to read on the day after National Comic Book Day.

Rating 5 stars because after my 6 year old read this, she was inspired to make her own comic. Then my 8 year old had FOMO, also read the comic, and has begun drawing. It has been an hour of content silence, which is the best kind of magic. Kudos to Kelly Leigh Miller.
