About the author

Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.

Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.

In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.

To be honest, I'm feeling increasingly disappointed with this series. Considering it's from Robert Kirkman, the creator of "The Walking Dead," I had high expectations.

"The Walking Dead" had amazing arcs that always ended with even more amazing cliffhangers. Right now, I'm not feeling that same excitement.

While it's still a pleasant read, it feels too ordinary. I expected much more. I'm always waiting for the moment when the series hits its stride, but it never seems to happen.

Maybe I should lower my expectations.

Additionally, there are too many loose ends. What happened to Omni-Man? What was the lead on who killed the League that the gorilla mentioned? And what about the astronaut who was left behind?

I'll definitely continue reading, but I'm hoping for more.

In this volume, I really noticed the plot thickening, which I appreciated. However, the pacing felt slower compared to the previous ones, and that’s why I gave it this rating.

Pacing was a little all over the place but I feel like that stems from an era of comics where each issue has its own little plot while moving the overarching story forward.

Had some really good moments in here, very humorous while knowing when to slow down and let the emotions take over. Excited to see where the Armstrong, Martian, and Mark’s mom storyline go.

Getting more complicated with more and more supporting characters, gonna start forgetting things soon. No Omni-man or Allen sadly.

Maybe a little dated in places, mostly because of phantom menace references (plus other pop culture) and calling things gay.

A lot of Mark failing at being a normal guy, wonder how dark his mother's mental state will become, Cecil is seemingly a really great bloke in the comics.

This is the continuing trials of Invincible, specifically after the death of his father, more specifically, Omni-Man fleeing Earth. In this volume, he becomes engaged, has troubles with his girlfriend, travels to Mars, and helps the evildoer take down his boss. It's all pretty standard superhero stuff, other than the engagement.

I started to read the Invincible comics because of the TV show. Many said the show is following the books. I know now, after three volumes, that the show played with the timing of the events. However, these characters are the same on the screen as on the page. For this, I am thankful as it gives me two ways to enjoy more Invincible stories.

The comic books add depth to the show. Funny enough, the show also adds depth to the comic books. Specifically, the show contains more details that sometimes the books gloss over.

My attraction to this character is the realism. People get hurt. People die. People suffer the aftereffects of those traumas. If a building gets knocked down, then it gets shown, over time, being rebuilt. Most standard comic books do not do that, which makes this special. Granted, it also lacks realism, as people have powers, but that makes this a superhero comic.

Invincible so far is maintaining a solid consistent quality, though it really does highlight just how great the show is. Many plots are now weaving together, and I just kinda prefer the way the show does it. Much like the original Guardians' deaths, he fight against Machine Head at the end, whilst great here, is just so much better in the show, not only in the action but also where its placement in the story is.

I look forward to reading Volume 4 when I pick it up, but I just bought the Book of Bill, so that's my next read.

Without a twist at the same level of the ones found in each of the first two collections, this chunk of comics didn't carry quite the same emotional weight of the first two trades, but these issues were still great for moving the story forward. Mark and his mom are reeling from the events of the last two issues prior to this, which casts a dark shadow over much of what is contained here. Several side stories are starting to take shape in these pages, and I'm excited to see where they go.

A strong continuation of the Invincible storyline, a lot of down to earth stories in these issues which isn’t a necessary a bad thing. I like the action set pieces in these issues. It’s short but powerful.

Just a shame I read the softcover in an hour. I need more of these softcovers.

I know it's not one issue but a couple put together but this volume can be described as an in between part. Pawns are being placed, teams are being changed and Omni-Man remains to be seen. Some nice fights, good character development makes it still a fine set.

this is increasingly becoming a generic superhero story. nothing wow me so far. now i don't feel the urge to continue with next volume. but i heard so many disturbing & shocking things about this comics. so i might still give it a chance

i have to say i feel slighted guys. i can’t believe william and eve date?!?!? it’s only for a few chapters but still!!!! it baffled me that he wasn’t gay in the comics let alone the fact that him and eve had a cheeky thing going on

Definitely enjoyed this one the most out of all 3 so far. It’s VERY wordy at times but I’m enjoying a lot of the personal drama. Art style is a little more tolerable but still kinda ugly lol
