Fed up with being hopelessly single, high schooler Erika makes up a boyfriend to fit in. When her lies start to unravel, her schoolmate Kyoya offers to be her pretend boyfriend—for a price. With no other choice, Erika finds herself at the mercy of a blackhearted prince! But is Kyoya truly as blackhearted as he seems?
Kyoya goes full sadist mode when he’s tasked with tutoring Erika’s little cousin Lena, a headstrong, smart-aleck middle schooler. But Lena appreciates Kyoya’s tough love approach, and later, when he saves her from a scrape in a bookstore, she suddenly finds herself head over heels! How will Kyoya and Erika get out of this one?!
Sadistic boyfriend, with a masochist girlfriend never felt so wrong, yet so good at the same time. I love how Kyouya (who is sexy in glasses *___*) is slowly changing. And even though he can be a jerk most times, the little stuff he does makes it worth it. Ha - guess am a masochist for this huh. Plus the comedy is awesome lol.
The school festival chapter was pretty cute with Kusabe and Edano. However; I found the succeeding chapters with the Rena storyline kinda meh and unnecessary. But if I were to say one good thing about it, it is that it was nice to see Kyoya really starting to treasure his relationship with Erika. Other than that I am ready for this bad arc to be over. 🤷🏻♂️
Wow. There is no shortage of interfering characters here. Surprisingly Kamiya hits it on the nose guessing that Erika's cousin will be trouble, especially as Erika is just as oblivious and overly kind as always. Not that either of them are really all that subtle. Kyouya isn't exactly known for holding back either, though he does tend to ignore things unless he's forced to be involved, at least unless it's something that starts obviously bothering Erika, then he's got a surprising protective streak. Hard to decide if it's all amusing at this point or just tiring.

I didn’t love this volume. I’m over his lack of feeling engaged in his relationship with gf. Like if you don’t like her or want to spend time with her why are you dating? It’s hard for me to believe he actually cares about her and the introduction of her rival eye roll. Not tur Ed off enough to stop but I really wish there had been more of his bad behavior before they got together and when they are together he is loyal.
*Eye twitching* If anyone (cousin included) said "hey I'm going to try to split up you and your significant other, hope your okay with that!" I would gorilla glue their toes together in their sleep because WHAT?! And for the MFC to just say "Yeah! I'll battle you!" 🥴🥴 (other that that this probably would have been a 3 star because it was sweet until what ever the heck that little cousin thing was....)
First it's the cultural festival and then we're on to exams and poor Kyoya was pressured by Erika to tutor her... and her younger cousin who (kinda predictably) caught feelings for him.
It's... a bit wonky what happens after (because common sense says to shut that down asap) but Erika is (as Kyoya puts it) an idiot.
I love this series it's quickly growing on me as the relationship between Erika and Sata grows. They still have a ton of issues but they are figuring it out slowly. I love that the relationship is growing and we are seeing more from Sata to make Erika happy. This is a sweet romance and I'm enjoying every moment of it. I can't wait for the next one to arrive.
The Rena chan arc was a bit too obvious for my taste. However I love how Kyouya and Erika are growing in this relationship together. How Kyouya is finally becoming more honest with himself regarding his feelings and how they are both trying their best for this relationship. It is heartwarming♡
I wish I could rate this 5 stars like I have for the other books, but this one made me feel like the author was running out of ideas for the story. It may get better though, so I’m going to keep reading the series.
Oooo Erika’s little middle school cousin starts hanging around and starts crushing on Kyoya… I really wish Erika would’ve just put her in her place instead of egging it on…
