Hey! Look At You! is a play book with mirrors galore from the one and only Sandra Boynton!
With mirrors and mooing and more, Hey! Look at You! invites readers to gaze into gigantic, animal-shaped mirrors to see themselves as Boynton’s fan-favorite animals! It’s a barnyard of a good time, whether kids moo like a cow, baa like a sheep, or QUACK QUACK QUACK like A VERY LOUD DUCK! Filled with silliness and heart, this reflective adventure will have readers staring at the page to play again and again.
Oh, little one! Little one! Look! Look at YOU! What a fabulous face! Can you give a big MOO? (Like “MOOOOOOO!”)

A fascinating psychological journey into the nature of the self. This book forces the reader to interrogate themselves with essential questions for the examined life such as whether they can give a big moo or baa like a sheep. No other book I have read so clearly holds up a mirror to the reader forcing one to contemplate oneself and one’s place in the world.
HEY! LOOK AT YOU! is a delightful and interactive board book. The book is addressed to the reader with an animal on each page facing a mirror and suggesting something for the reader to say (such as moo or shouting QUACK!). There is also a flap that can be lifted to show a mirror for a small peekaboo!
What I loved: Boynton really speaks to toddlers, and this book is no different - this is simple, interactive, and pure fun! Mirrors on every page spread allow children to see themselves and say the silly animal sounds while considering their faces and their tones of voice. The peekaboo flap is a particular favorite at our house with an animal wondering where they went, with the flap revealing a mirror to "find" them. These simple, interactive pages work so well for young toddlers who will love seeing themselves and being silly along with the story.
What left me wanting more: As a very small thing, the flap was very easy to rip off for rougher readers as it is only cardstock thickness, though the book can still be enjoyed without it.
Final verdict: HEY! LOOK AT YOU! is a delightful, interactive board book that is sure to charm young toddlers.

I've never used a mirror book in baby storytime before, and I'm not sure I'll plan to do it again. It's tough making sure the mirror is aimed at faces when you're on the other side of the book walking it around. Still, this book was cute and the peek-a-boo flap and moon pages were particular hits with today's crew.
My daughter loves this one. We do all the animal sounds, and I never realised how hilarious she would find shouting to be. The very loud duck page is repeatedly turned back to. It’s fun and interactive and this is one of the ones that that gets picked up and handed to me over and over; then she asks to read it again before we’ve even finished.
An adorable board book for babies, each page features a mirror in the shape of an animal. The mirror provides an age appropriate way to interact with each page and one mirror has a peak-a-boo function which is so fun.
Thank you Simon Kids for the gifted copy to review.
A great board book for babies! Each page features a different animal, a mirror in the shape of that animal, and animal sounds. This would not make a good storytime read like other Boynton books, but families will enjoy reading it together!
Board Book Boynton creates magical books for the youngest readers. What a fun read together book for families of toddlers and preschoolers. Each page has a mirror so the reader can play too as they interact with the various animals.
This author is still knocking it out of the park! Toddlers will love this rhyming book with different shaped mirrors on every page. It encourages the reader to make different animal sounds and it even has a lift the flap mirror for extra fun!
A new favourite! Gets so excited and loves looking at his reflection. First time reading it we went through the book about 6 times, he couldn't get enough of it.
The target audience enjoyed the mirrors, but I was disappointed by how the rhyming structure started and stopped, then started again. For how many solid rhyming books she has, she could do better.
