I'm thoroughly enjoying this Mandalorian manga adaptation.
I hope they continue with it, as it is exceptionally well done.

Solid adaptation in this volume. I remember I did not like the art in the last volume at all and this volume did a much better job on that front. Reading a couple adaptations of this story doesn’t seem to get old, which is great. This was a bit of a quicker read though.

I love this book. All the important scenes from the series are in this book. The artwork is awesome. They really managed to show some the bonding between Mando and the child. Volume 1 and volume 2 together are a great way to relive the series. All the action is here. This actually makes me want to watch the series again just to compare the first two episodes. The book finishes with a couple of descriptions. I am hoping there will be a volume 3.

If you’ve read volume one, then expect the same with volume 2. This volume contains artwork for episodes 2 and 3 of Disney+ series The Mandalorian. The artwork is spot on and action drawn very well.
Now I want to see volume 3 of this series, whether Cara Dune is drawn accurately. Highly recommended for all Star Wars fans.

J’ai mis un petit moment avant de trouver le tome d’occasion, j’ignore si c’est parce que la série intéresse que très peu les lecteurs ou si au contraire, elle intéresse et du coup, ils ne s’en séparent pas. Parmi les mangas Star Wars que j’ai pu lire, cette série fait partie du haut du panier. Je suis toujours autant perdue dans la temporalité de certaines créations, mais là, le fait que l’Empire n’existe plus est un assez bon indicateur…
J’aurais presque envie d’une version totalement colorisée pour ce manga, le rendu est tellement bon après tout. Pour le Mandalorian, j’ai vraiment l’impression qu’il est du genre malchanceux, même s’il arrive à très bien gagner sa vie visiblement. Il accepte n’importe qu’elle mission tant qu’elle peut lui rapporter du minerai beskar. Un minerai venant de sa planète et que son peuple utilise pour se faire des armures de très bonne qualité. Comme la vie d’une bonne partie de ses semblables, ce minerai a été volé par l’Empire, ainsi les mandaloriens vouent une certaine haine à leur égard. Malgré celle-ci, il ne sera pas jugé par ses pairs pour avoir travaillé pour eux, le plus important étant d’avoir réussi à récupérer du minerai. J’ai l’impression qu’ils ont comme un code d’honneur, semblable à celui des chevaliers, ils n’ont pas l’air foncièrement mauvais, ils essaient juste de survivre et d’offrir une meilleure vie aux plus jeunes d’entre eux. Le fait qu’il porte toujours son casque le rend difficile à cerner, encore plus dans cette version papier (car dans la série, on peut au moins avoir sa voix). Seuls ses échanges verbaux permettent de le cerner un peu mieux, notamment vis-à-vis de l’enfant. Il ne semble pas être au courant concernant la maîtrise de la force, puisqu’il ignore ce qu’il a fait. Enfin, c’est ce qu’il dit, mais je suppose qu’il est loin d’être idiot et doit se douter de quelque chose. C’est aussi en partie pour cela qu’il va ensuite le récupérer et rouler tant le reste de l’Empire que les autres mercenaires. Certains disent que les membres de l’Empire ne sont plus que des petits groupes, mais ils ont encore bien assez d’argent pour redorer leur blason !
Même si j’aime bien l’action, j’espère que cette adaptation prendra du temps pour développer un peu mieux certaines choses. Notamment l’évolution de la relation entre le mandalorian et l’enfant, même s’il suffit parfois d’une action pour se rapprocher de quelqu’un, je trouve dommage si la leur se contente de ça pour évoluer. Je ne sais pas non plus s’il y a un problème niveau traduction, mais il est indiqué que le mandalorian échange son nouveau beskar contre une armure complète flambant neuve… Mais au final, il a encore une partie de son armure qui n’a pas été refaite (ou alors il ne l’a pas mise, mais ça serait idiot). La phrase n’est donc pas très correcte, surtout qu’on utilise le surplus pour lui fabriquer quelque chose et qu’une partie est aussi donnée aux enfants. Le mieux sera sans doute que je regarde la série, pour mieux comprendre. Je me demande également comment il arrive encore à être discret avec une armure qui brille autant. Son camarade l’a prévenu qu’il se ferait remarquer avec elle, mais visiblement, ça ne le gêne pas plus que ça. Je me demande si ses camarades ont aussi ce genre d’armures, sur l’illustration de jaquette, ça ne semble pas être le cas, mais comme il est possible de façonner le métal comme on veut, peut-être qu’ils en ont bien aussi. Ils auraient alors optés pour une version moins voyante, le mandalorian lui par contre, n’a pas de jet pack, alors qu’il semblerait que cet accessoire fasse aussi partie de leur équipement. Leur organisation semble être bien menée, mais surtout très secrète, par peur de représailles sans doute. J’espère que cette partie aussi sera développée.

In der Fortsetzung der Mandalorian-Manga-Adaption bietet Mangaka Yusuke Osawa wieder einen ganz neuen Blick auf die beliebte erste Staffel der Disney-Plus-Serie.
Die Handlung:
Der Mandalorianer hat die Zielperson an sich gebracht und begibt sich auf den langen Weg nach Nevarro, um seine Belohnung einzustreichen. Doch da bietet sich ihm ein ganz neues Problem: Sein Schiff ist einer Spezialbehandlung der Jawas unterzogen worden...
Meine Meinung:
Ich verstehe durchaus, dass „The Mandalorian“ einen großen Teil zum Star-Wars-Universum beigetragen hat. Und trotzdem stellt sich bei der Lektüre einmal mehr die mittlerweile berühmte Frage: Wie oft kann man das Gleiche lesen/hören/sehen? Die Manga-Adaption hat da gegenüber den unzähligen anderen Versionen einen Vorteil: Die Zeichnungen bringen tatsächlich frischen Wind in inzwischen eingestaubte Stories. Osawa fängt das Star-Wars-Gefühl gekonnt ein und begleitet den Leser in eine Welt, die genauso gut in der Visions-Serie hätte platziert werden können. Zum Glück wie man sagen muss, denn die Handlung haut keinen (außer Neuleser) mehr aus den Socken. Und grade spannend ist die erste Hälfte auch nicht - wer sich zurückerinnert merkt, wie wenig Mando und Grogu in ihrer Anfangszeit eigentlich interagiert haben. Man fühlt sich manchmal wie in einem Bilderbuch.
Fazit:
Mal wieder das Gleiche, aber hübsch ist es 😉

This manga adaptation of The Mandalorian focuses on the 'Child' arc from Season 1, condensing the story to concentrate on the key plot points. Like the original material, the storyline remains compelling and translates well into this new format.Assuming most readers are already acquainted with the story, I'll refrain from revealing spoilers. In my view, this rendition epitomizes the essence of Star Wars, capturing its gritty sci-fi essence akin to the original trilogy. The titular character, reminiscent of Clint Eastwood's nameless gunslinger, adds to the allure.
While the adaptation is commendable, it doesn't quite reach the heights of the source material. Our protagonist's silent demeanor, which lends weight on screen, isn't as effectively conveyed in manga form. Additionally, the abundance of close-up shots doesn't translate seamlessly, especially with a helmet that lacks expressiveness. Unlike its live-action counterpart, the manga lacks the evocative soundtrack, although readers can enhance their experience by playing the OST while reading.
Nevertheless, despite these shortcomings, this manga offers a captivating journey into the origins of The Mandalorian, making it a delightful read for longtime fans and accessible to newcomers alike. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

This volume continues the adventures of the Mandalorian and the child he's been tasked with collecting. Mando has found the child and now has to get off Arvala-7 to get the bounty. But a bunch of Jawas have ransacked his ships and he has to find some special egg in order for them to give him the parts back. And then once he turns in the child he has some serious misgivings about what agents of the Empire are doing to him.
This only brings us up to the equivalent of Episode 3 of Season 1 of the show. And it follows those very closely. So if you have seen the show, you know exactly how this is going to turn out and what they will say, the action is just condensed a little. It does make for a fast read since dialogue is minimal and action is high, that makes the pages fly by. A good way to recap if it has been a while since you've seen the show.

Violence: There are a couple battles, it is implied some are killed in the battles (and Mando mentions vaporizing some Jawas) but only the death of a monstrous animal is shown on page.

Other: A person is being used for live scientific testing against their will.

This collection adapts part of the second and the third episode of The Mandalorian into manga form. It goes at a much slower pace than the Marvel adaptation, which allows it to stay a little closer to the source material by cutting out much less. The art is fantastic and really captures the atmosphere of the show.
If you like Star Wars and you like manga, you should definitely pick up this and the first volume!

Not a whole lot in the way of dialogue in this one, but that is the way with the mandalorian. Some incredible art pulling the weight on the visual storytelling on this manga adaptation of episodes 2 and 3.

A really solid adaptation. It doesn't add to the story at all, but the artwork is very good and the episodes are adapted about as well as they could be into this medium. If you love the show and you like manga, it may be worth checking this out.

A great way to relive the magic of the first season of the Mandalorian. The art continues to be beautiful. I know the Japanese edition of Vol. 3 has been realised, so I'm looking forward to the English edition.

Świetna kontynuacja i dobre przypomnienie serialu. Natomiast po dwóch tomach jesteśmy dopiero po 3 odcinkach… chyba trochę za długi dystans się szykuje.

It was dry. Lacked any sort of description/thought bubbles. I mean the art is incredible but I felt a variation from the show would’ve actually been more enjoyable than this.
