Sophie Kinsella first hit the UK bestseller lists in September 2000 with her first novel in the Shopaholic series – The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic (also published as Confessions of a Shopaholic). Becky has since featured in seven further bestselling books, Shopaholic Abroad (also published as Shopaholic Takes Manhattan), Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Shopaholic & Sister, Shopaholic & Baby, Mini Shopaholic, Shopaholic to the Stars and Shopaholic to the Rescue. Becky Bloomwood came to the big screen in 2009 with the hit Disney movie Confessions of a Shopaholic, starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy.

Wat een lekker weg lees boek , ik had ff totaal zin in wat anders dan een boek waar ik goed moest opletten, becky had leuke acties en steeds kwam ze in de absurdste dingen terecht, ondanks dat kwam ze er ook weer uit!
Confessions of a shopaholic is one of the sweetest books i've ever read. It follows the story of Rebecca Bloomwood, a self-confessed shopaholic who takes impulse buying to a whole new level! She's a fantastic character who so easily convinces herself to shop by telling herself in necessity, even when her credit card says NO NO NO! She's a bubbly and fun loving girl, who eventually faces the earth shattering position of redundancy and no way to clear the huge amount of debt she has landed herself in! It's a sweet tale with so much humour you will literally laugh out loud! Then there's Mr Luke Brandon, an incredibly sexy, smart and handsome financier who you will no doubt fall in love with!
The characters are written so wonderfully that the story is so endearing as you root for Becky and Luke's relationship to work. The series that follow are equally beautiful written and the confessions of a shopaholic movie was so similar to the book it was un-real! The actors who played Becky and Luke were just as I had pictured them when I read this book years before.
Sophie Kinsella is one of many of my favourite chick-lit authors, her books, much like the confessions of a shopaholic series are so realistic that they are believable, things like this do happen. That is what makes the books so charming and funny.
Would highly recommend to avid readers, readers of chick-lit, womens fiction, YA's and anyone who loved the movie! them follow the adventures and read the whole series; . CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC . SHOPAHOLIC ABROAD . SHOPAHOLIC TIES THE KNOT . SHOPAHOLIC AND SISTER . SHOPAHOLIC AND BABY . MINI SHOPAHOLIC
I'm clearly not the target audience for this book, in my 20's I would have related a little more to Rebecca. However her constant lying and scheming over everything, not just shopping, grated on me and I'm sure would have in my earlier days as well. And the delusion, like the idea playing the lottery once would make her a winner made me want to scream.
I loved (LOVED) the movie, but I'm not interested in continuing the series anymore. Like what do the men that want to date her even see in her?
this book was okay, she sold al of her items of clothing to pay off her debt she owed to the banks and suze got married. It was not anything i didn't expect from the novel it was just an mediocre book and i wouldn't mind reading it again i just wouldn't choose to

It's a very lighthearted, fast series to read...but hysterical since it keeps the same character, Becky Newton, throughout and her quirkiness as well as inability to handle finances as the running theme..if you liked Bridget Jones', you'll like these...
i adore this series. its one of my favorite books. and i also have it on tape. kinsella's comic portrayal is wonderfully executed with witty dialogue and plots; this book is in effervescent splendor. i love rereading these and i <3 becky and luke, and suze and tarquin. <333
I love all of Sophie Kinsella's books. Everytime I read one, I laugh so hard that I cry. Because I grew up without money, I am quite frugal. It is so much fun to read about a girl that has the exact opposite problem. Warning this author is English and can swear like a long shoreman.
Totally based on the conception of vigorous shopping and then realizing the mistake, falling in love and finally learning Finish. I have watched the movie too. Great book about the experience of shopping (:
I love these audiobooks. They were suggested by a friend and I was hooked after the first book. Lighthearted, predictable, but a fun summer read, or listen, for that matter!
