The new book from the author of the UK's number one dog book, Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy.
What should I expect when I adopt a rescue dog? How can I stop my dog from barking at strangers? How do I teach an older dog new tricks? Steve Mann knows dogs. His incredible ability to understand dogs quickly has earned Steve the gratitude of more than 100,000 dogs and their owners everywhere, including a host of celebrities.
Easy Peasy Doggy Squeezy provides solutions to hundreds of dog-training problems, including socialising, excessive barking and recall. Steve passes on his wisdom gained from working with thousands of dogs throughout his career. He teaches owners how to work out what kind of pet carer they are and what techniques will work best with their pup. Believing that dogs need to be treated ethically, with good habits rewarded, Steve has developed a fun and practical programme that works with dogs however old they are and whatever their breed and personality.

Brilliant advice, but don’t buy the kindle version
This book is absolutely fantastic. Steve takes you through how to tackle common problems with dogs. The advice is brilliant and Steve clearly knows his subject very well. The advice is present as a series of letters from readers, and this is where I hit a problem. I bought the kindle version, and these readers letters appear as graphics, often just one inch tall (worst example was approx half a centimetre). While I can enlarge these images I feel it’s a problem the publisher could have addressed. The book is full of useful advice, I just wish I’d bought a physical copy (5 stars for the book, but severely let down but the issues described)
The layout of this book is different to easy peasy puppy squeazy. Instead of being a how to guide, this book is set up for each chapter topic to be framed around responding to a letter where the topic (eg recall, chin rest) is the answer to the problem.
The instructional sections of these letters were pretty good, although for my favorite game the rucksack walk I much preferred easy peasy puppy’s layout.
I liked that this book didn’t have the super long introduction that puppy squeazy had. It also had a lot more colour photos showing the different skills and activities.
The book passed the sit test - a dog is taught how to stop jumping without having punishments, social punishments or extinction bursts. I quite appreciated the proactive and errorless approach that the author gives which leads to instant success from the very first rep.
I also appreciated the books elevation of management and prevention while teaching new skills.
My favourite section was the “active ingredients where it went through the usefulness of reinforcement, mutually exclusive behaviours, control and management, associations and more.
Ultimately though I couldn’t get past the writing layout with the letters, just not a style of writing I enjoyed despite the good information.
I really enjoyed this book! I’m usually a bit skeptical of these popular dog training books, but this one was really good! It’s pretty basic but it covers a lot of topics and it would be a great read for anyone just starting out on their dog training/guardianship journey. I thought the advice was sound and practical and the exercises were explained in a way that was easy to understand and carry out. I think I will definitely be recommending this one to some of my clients. I got this one free on Audible, so if you’ve got an audible membership I would definitely check it out!
Fabulous book! Excellent detailed advice for various issues and scenarios, all positive solutions, not only brilliant advice but brilliant humour too, had me howling with laughter 😂 Even though our rescue dog is 3 years old Ive bought the authors other book Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy just cos I need to read more from him, fabulous book for any dog parent who wants good advice and also a good giggle!
48) Easy Peasy Doggy Squeezy, Steve Mann⭐️⭐️⭐️ I did find this book informative and it was useful with all of the different case studies so if a dog has a specific problem it will help offer training methods to resolve it. However, I think I need to read the Puppy book version too as that will be more helpful to my needs. In comparison to the Graham book I didn't find this as enjoyable but I will definetly be trying some of the tips.
Brilliant book lots of fantastic advice on training. Gives advice on what to expect when your puppy hits teenage stage. This was brilliant as our Springer spaniel has just got to this stage. I thought we were going wrong as everything Mario learnt had disappeared. But it's normal. We just have to weather the storm. I got lots of new things to teach us both in the meantime. Every dog owner needs to read this fabulous book
I just love how Mann writes. His debut, Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy , was so complulsively readable that I finished it in a few hours. This book is a bit of a slow burn, but only because I found his first book more relatable (I currently have a puppy) than this one. It’s still funny and enjoyable.
Mann writes out this book in scenarios. He presents different cases and types of dogs he’s handled over the years, and presents some solutions to dealing with them. I particularly found the subject of fear of fireworks and grooming really helpful, and something I’ve logged in for future reference.
A succinct and fun all-round training book that covers a range of areas, from basic obedience and problem behaviours, to tricks, enrichment, and building the relationship between you. I loved the inclusion of scentwork and tracking and will definitely try some of the suggestions!
I found this a really helpful read, there are lots of step by step training exercises that I can apply with my own dog. It’s definitely one that I’ll keep referring back to as and when I need it. The main take away for any training is to just take it really slowly and build it up bit by bit.
Personally I didn't enjoy the style of writing. It is very comprehensive, gives clear examples and case studies, which is great content for first time owners.
