Emily Cooper’s life is finally under control. She’s moved on from her cheating ex-fiancé and all the extra hours she’s put in at the advertising agency are paying off. If her team lands this pitch with Imperial, the hottest auto account on the market, a promotion (and the raise she desperately needs) is as good as hers.
Nothing can derail her focus.
Until she meets Matt Davis and sparks immediately fly. Matt recently moved to NYC, ready to prove himself with a new job and pick up the pieces from his failed marriage. Completely out of character Emily decides to celebrate with this charming guy before the pitch kicks off on Monday. After spending an amazing weekend together, Emily’s still smiling when Matt shows up as the lead for the other team pitching Imperial. They both need this win. They both want each other. Will they battle to the bitter end or will they realize they’re fighting for so much more?
Ali Curtis lives an overly fulfilled life with her husband, three young daughters, and a dog. When she’s not avoiding stepping on Legos or searching desperately for Barbie’s other shoe, she works full-time in Corporate America. In theory, her free time is spent voraciously reading romance and daydreaming about love but in reality, she’s an Uber driver to and from her daughters’ activities, secretly listening to audiobooks and hoping her blush isn’t too obvious when she hits the steamy parts.

Delightful! Charming! Sexy af. 🌶️ Ali’s debut is everything I want in a romance: funny characters who deal with problems like the grown ups they are. I’m still smiling and I finished weeks ago. Loved it, and can’t wait to read more from Ali Curtis.
Emily Cooper is at a crossroads in life - she’s kicked her cheating ex out of her life and has the chance to receive the promotion she’s been working for. Enter Matt Davis, recently divorced and back in New York to try to rebuild his life. When it turns out Matt is the new hire chosen to compete for the big account her company hopes to acquire, sparks fly both in and out of the boardroom.
What a fun debut from romance reader turned writer, Ali Curtis. From the go, I was struck by how seasoned the writing is. Each of the main characters is fully fleshed out, relatable and flawed, and they feel as though they could easily exist off the page. I think Curtis did a great job of adding emotional depth to the story while also keeping light and fun and full of banter. And the biggest surprise? How easily she wove in the background for a sequel.
This romcom/ode to New York City was all that I hope for a debut to be and I cannot wait to continue this series.

Thank you to the author for my gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.
I absolutely adored this book and read it so fast because I had to know! There are some references to this book that I found so perfect, a few nods to TSwift, Friends, country music, NYC landmarks and favorite movies and songs that just felt perfect.
This one is for all the girls who love an ooey gooey, make your heart melt, sigh from swooning, kind of cinnamon roll MMC. Matt was the SWEETEST. Caretaker, protector, cheerleader. He was just so good 🥹 flawed? Yes. But that made him just even more lovable!
Emily is the kind of FMC that you either see yourself or a friend in. She was real, relatable, strong and independent but not obnoxiously so. She relied on her friends when she needed support, and they showed up for her every time. I absolutely LOVE when there’s a solid group of girl friends. Josie and Lucy were precious and I hope to see their books in the future!
If you liked The Hating Game by Sally Thorne and Just My Type by Falon Ballard then you’ll be in workplace romance heaven with In It to Win It by Ali Curtis! 😍😍😍
Y’all. My friend wrote a book!!! And it’s so, so good. And I’m not just saying that because Ali’s my friend. The writing is beautiful. The tension is perfect. The character development is solid. It’s the perfect workplace romance. 🫶
Short Synopsis: Emily Cooper is hardworking, organized and loves a good plan. But what’s not in her plan? Meeting the sexy Matt (and his forearms) at a bar. The two hit it off immediately and spend a whirlwind weekend together. But then come Monday, Matt shows up at her office…as her new coworker..
My Thoughts: This book had it all. It was swoony and sweet. The banter was excellent. I just loved Matt and Emily’s story and cannot gush enough about it.

Y’ALL!!!! This damn book was everything I needed in life today. What an incredible debut novel by Ali Curtis.
I am extremely picky with my romance novels but this one was just SO well done. It roped me in from the first chapter and I legit devoured this book in a single day. It just felt so real and the emotions were there in all the right places. I laughed a ton, and yes I cried… no, I straight bawled, at one point because gosh dang this book just gave me all the feels. I want to know these characters in real life. And all of the subtle little references to Taylor Swift, Greys Anatomy, throwing shade at patriarchal bullshit, … gah loved it! This will definitely be one I pick up again when I need a “feel-good” read. And you bet I am STOKED to see what Ali writes next! 😝❤️

Emily Cooper has worked her tail off to make it in NYC. For the past five years, she’s spent countless hours plugging away at her job in marketing, and she was happy doing so, knowing she’d be rewarded with a promotion at some point. Turns out that promotion hinges on the company securing a large auto account - something Emily’s definitely not familiar with, but she’s going to give it her all as usual. The weekend before she has to buckle down for the project, she meets Matt at a bar and has a very out of the ordinary (for her) romantic weekend with him. When she walks into work on Monday and realizes that the new job Matt casually mentioned happens to be at her firm, she’s shocked. The surprises keep coming from there!
This was a sweet read with just enough spice. I think I would recommend reading over listening on this one (shocking for me haha) - I just couldn’t find my perfect pacing with the narrators for some reason! I loved the tropes happening in this book - there were a lot but they were done well! •workplace romance •he falls first •family drama •texting/witty banter •one bed/forced proximity I also really enjoyed Emily’s character - she’s hard working but still makes time for her personal life which can be tricky. I was frustrated with Matt a lot because of the HUGE secrets he kept, but also somewhat understood his reasoning. I am looking forward to reading what Ali comes out with next!
This book was amazing . I am seriously going to go to bed tonight with the biggest smile on my face after reading this .
The main characters are incredible.
Matt is soooo witty and perfect and his corny jokes fit with his personality so well I seriously could NOT stop grinning . Matt is legit my absolute dream man - oops don’t tell my husband tho 😂
And Emily .. oh my god . I LOVE her ! She is so independent and lovable and smart and empowering and such a boss !
I could not get enough of these two !!
Everyone who reads romance HAS to jump on this one . This book is everything we love within a romance novel and I seriously cannot wait for more work by Ali Curtis !!!
Short synopsis: Emily Cooper is desperate to land a highly coveted marketing pitch, but her new co-worker and competitor is the handsome Matt she met at the bar.
My Thoughts: Guys…. My friend wrote a book and it’s amazing! I’m not just saying that because Ali is my friend. The characters and relationship is so well developed, they feel like my real friends! It totally exceeded all of my expectations!
The banter, the text flirting, the competition! Just everything was perfection. And can we talk about how sweet of a cinnamon roll Matt is! Doing tender things for Emily, like getting her morning coffee, just to show her he was thinking about her! And let’s not forget about the scene on the airplane!
Do yourself a favor and get your hands on this debut! I can’t wait for Josie and Luke’s story!

First, I would like to thank @authoralicurtis for the eARC of this amazing book!
I CANNOT believe this was a debut romance! Ali Curtis created an amazing workplace romance that had me smiling, laughing, admiring, and sweating (from the spice!) and I just couldn’t get enough of Matt and Emily’s love story. I loved reading all of the text conversations and how their connection progressed through their exchanges. Matt and Emily end up meeting at a bar, going home together, and then the next day find out they are going to be working together. Not only that, they are both working towards the same position!! I’m not going to lie, I got real nervous at the end when everything unfolded with Matt & Emily, but this one ends in a happily ever after. I promise!
My favorite genre to read is romance particularly rom coms and this one checked all the boxes!
Emily goes out one night with her friends before she has to bunker down at work the following week. She works for an advertising company in New York City and she’s been chosen to lead her a team pitch for a high profiled auto client. Her winning the pitch would be give her the promotion she deserves but also ensures she doesn’t lose her cherished apartment. At the bar she ends up meeting Matt. The chemistry is instantaneous and are inseparable that weekend. Emily chooses to focus on work and doesn’t want Matt as a distraction so she doesn’t allow there to be anything else besides that weekend. But when she walks in Monday morning to work, she realizes there is no escaping Matt because he’s her new coworker and now her competition for with the winning pitch.
I loved Matt!!! Leaving her a cup of coffee at her desk every day - my dream man! The banter was hilarious. I particularly enjoyed the fact that they felt more relatable because they were both older. This is Curtis’s debut novel and she knocked out the park!

What’s it about? Emily has worked for an ad agency for years, and she has the opportunity to pitch and lead a big account for Imperial–a luxury car company. And she’s desperate because she’s currently living in an apartment she can’t afford. And she’s only in it because she and her ex-fiance were planning a life together and he turned out to be a total piece of trash.
Matt meets Emily at a bar, sort of on a dare. They hit it off immediately, but when he learns that Emily works for the ad company that his dad owns, he panics–because he is her competition for being the lead on the Imperial luxury car account pitch. And if she wins the pitch, she can finally get out of debt.
When Emily discovers that Matt is her internal competition, she’s angry, but Matt is determined not to lose the woman he has such chemistry with.
Throw in some daddy drama for both Matt and Emily, plus some conflicting career interests, and it becomes seemingly impossible for Matt to convince Emily that they are meant to be.
My thoughts:
First and foremost, I am SO PROUD of my friend Ali Curtis for publishing her debut. I know how hard she worked on this book and it shows. The last 20-25% is especially amazing. It went from a cute enemies-to-lovers romcom to an emotional connection I was 100% here for. I felt all the things while reading this: joy, sadness, anger, optimism, and, erm, spicy excitement?
This is such a cute debut, and I can’t wait to read what Ali has in store for us next!
Emily needs the new promotion at work. The rent on her apartment is depending on it. But when she comes face to face with her competition, she can't believe it's Matt, her "one night stand" from the weekend before. Can the two get along together enough to win the account for their company?
If you know me, you know that I love my romcoms. This workplace romance with the one bed trope included (my fave!) was really cute. I loved how straightforward and mature Matt was. He wanted Emily and he went after her right from the start. Emily, who had been burnt before, was less eager to jump right in and the way Matt gave her space to find out what she really wanted - what a guy! Emily had a great group of female friends on her side and I loved the interactions she had with them. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series. Congratulations on your book Ali Curtis - I'm a huge fan!
Emily Cooper is finding that her life is coming together. Her commitment at work is paying off, and she's moved on from her cheating ex. The final piece of the puzzle is her team winning the pitch to run the advertising for the auto account that could land her a promotion she desperately needs. All she has to do is have no distractions until after the pitch, but one last night out won't hurt or derail her. That is until she meets Matt. Matt just moved back to NYC and A whirlwind night turns into a weekend refreshing her to focus on work until Matt walks through the door as the leader of the other team that will be pitching. Little does she know that he needs this win too.
Dani's Thoughts: Oh my... This was such a wonderful book from start to finish. I loved the determination in Emily to succeed in a world that doesn't always let women lead. She had a wonderful group of friends that supported and loved her even in her worst moments, and I'm excited to see more from them in future books. Matt was such a wonderful book boyfriend saying swoon worthy words to Emily and always finding a way to support her. But he's far from perfect, and his most frustrating choices had me yelling at my Kindle. The texts and flirty banter within this book, along with her amazing group of friends made for one heck of a romance book.

Thank you Ali Curtis for arc copy of this book! Available now on Kindle Unlimited and paperback!
I absolutely adored this novel! I read this as an ARC from the author. This novel was seriously the sweetest work place romance I have read. I instantly clicked with the FMC Emily. She was reliable, responsible and reminded me a lot of myself. Matt was the absolute best and sweetest man that could have been placed in this story!! I love the story and world the author created. This is a beautiful debut novel! This is a great novel to try if you loved The Hating Game!

I always admire a strong determined FMC, and Emily is no exception. Her commitment not only to her work but supporting the people she loves are some of the few reasons that you can't help but root for her. Matt is what the best book boyfriends are made of combining the right mix of cheesy lines to make you laugh, sultriness to make your toes curl, and the sweetest thoughts to make you blush. But he's not perfect, which makes me love him even more. Put them together with flirty banter/texting and a ride-or-die friend group, you have a romance book you won't want to put down.

4.0 stars. Ha! This is a first. Just downloaded this book. It only took a few pages to realize I already knew what was going to happen. 🤦♀️ I've already read it! Not sure how it escaped a previous review, wasn't listed as "read" in my library or reminded by Amazon I've already read it. 🤷♀️
Thank you so much @bookedwiththeemilys @authoralicurtis for the gifted audiobook.
Blurb: Emily Cooper has moved on from her ex-fiancé and all of the extra hours she’s put into work are finally paying off. Nothing can derail her focus… until she meets Matt Davis.
✨ My thoughts: This fast and fun book is a true delight! My ear bud was pretty much glued to my ear and before I knew it, it was over. I love a good rom-com… especially if the banter is on point, and on point it was. It definitely gives a good laugh! I seriously loved Matt’s character the most, he’s irresistible from the start and totally swoon worthy. Sure this is a light read but it’s also relatable in the best ways and the entire story felt evened out. If workplace romance is your trope of choice, you won’t want to miss this! In It to Win It is out now!
3.5 rounded up! - Thanks to @bookedwiththeemilys and @authoralicurtis for the gifted audiobook copy of this book. - If you're looking for a cute, steamy, angsty workplace romance, this book is for you. Though I haven't read too many workplace romances, I really loved this take on it with the one night stand turned new coworkers trope. Add in some other complications that I won't spoil, and there was the perfect amount of drama amongst the romance for me. I loved following a main character who was really trying to move forward in her career and was great at her job. The NYC setting also made everything just a little bit more fun! This book is also dual POV and has both a male a female audiobook narrator, who I thought both did a great job. - This was such a great debut and I can't wait to read the next book in the series (which was set up for us perfectly btw).
Ali’s experience as a bookstagrammer and avid reader really paid off with this one. She knew the exact recipe for the perfect romance story, featuring all of my favorite tropes. Writing a book is no easy feat, but Ali’s debut makes it look easy. Emily and Matt’s dynamic is nothing short of perfection. The texting banter, the dad jokes, the opening for a sequel… all of it was expert-level. Ali certainly has a promising future as an author, and I am excited to see what she has in store next!
"In It to Win It" by Ali Curtis is a delight of a book. I couldn't put it down! I loved the chemistry between the main characters, Emily and Matt. Sparks fly *the second* they glance at each other. I usually don't like insta-love books, but author Ali Curtis really makes it work to her advantage here. Of course, Emily and Matt end up working together, which makes for a situation fraught with tension and full of flirting, laughs, and tears. Don't you just love a "he falls first AND harder" novel?! Well, that's what you'll get here. Matt is such an ooey-gooey cinnamon roll. I'm going to be thinking about him for a long time! *wink* I think Curtis's writing is super strong for her debut novel. Her characters are well-rounded and fully fleshed-out, even her secondary characters get their moments to shine. The banter is excellent, the spice is great, and I was satisfied with the resolution of the story. All in all, this is a super cute story that I think readers will gobble up!
Thanks to Ali Curtis for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
“Yes, he’s beautiful, but it’s his heart that’s his most attractive feature.”
If you’re looking for a women-in-STEM, workplace romance by a debut author, look no further. Ali Curtis brings wit and humor to the page, while adding in pop culture references, which I always enjoy. But, for my friends with sensitivities like me, be aware this is an open door romance with a fair amount of strong language. If it weren’t for those two things, I would have rated the book higher, because I did really enjoy the storyline. But if those don’t bother you, you will truly enjoy this read.

Ali does a fantastic job with IN IT TO WIN IT, a workplace romantic comedy. I absolutely loved the easy banter and tension between Matt and Emily, the friend group chats, and mega-swoony moments. Ali does a great job of creating a realistic relationship in all the busyness of NYC corporate life, and I just couldn’t put it down!

In It To Win It by Ali Curtis Narrated by Kelsey Navarro Foster & Tim Paige. @kelseynavfoster @thevoiceoftimpaige
Story Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✨ 4.5/5 Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 (0-5) Overall: 4.75/5 Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 (0-5) a few descriptive scenes.
What I’m Starry-Eyed Over: 🎧 Tim Paige saying, "Stroke it, don't poke it." Thank you for that in my life!! Tim Paige just does it for me in all his flirty, frisky fun! He’s so good at serious, sweet, and all the other stuff too! 🎧 Kelsey Navarro Foster is a fabulous Emily. She does the text chats so well and gets all the different emotions/feels so right--annoyed, nervous, aroused, all of them! 🎧 Together, they give amazing audiobook entertainment! 🤩 The tropes and plot are fantastic: one-night-stand to slooooow burn workplace romance—publicity teams trying for the same account. And later on—forced proximity! 🙌🏻 🤩 The bar, pushy but great friends, Davis Doubles game of pool, and such flirty fun—what a captivating start to a fabulous story! 🤩 Emily and Matt have PDA perfection because of course they do when they’re here for the “one night only tasting menu!” 🤩 I am so smitten with their first intimate experience—the instant attraction and beautifully horny lust is so clever, unique, and genuine. 🤩 The attraction, the chemistry, the pull between Matt and Emily is so evident and amazing. I just love them as a couple, how much fun they have together. 🤩 So much emotion in the love these two have for each other and the longing we feel when they aren’t quite there yet. 🤩 So many beautifully written details throughout that are hard to explain in a short review—coffee deliveries, romance author shout-outs, snowy Manhattan descriptions, etc. . . 🤩 That finally feeling. 🤩 When they finally get together and Matt so reverently loves on Emily—such beautifully intimate writing. 🤩 The sweetness, the real-ness of their HEA. 🤩 I’m looking forward to Emily’s fun friends hopefully getting HEAs.
What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About: 💫 It’s just me being greedy about the steam—at the beginning and end this time. The beginning because their one-night-stand definitely would have been at least two rounds and one nap instead of the other way around—those hormones were in it to win it! The end because we need it after the drama/time apart.
Ali is In It to Win It with this debut- all the flowers & stars to this romance loving debut author! It’s got witty banter, an adorable MMC who falls first & hard, a badass FMC who knows her worth and fights for what she wants.
I loved both Emily and Matt! I was rooting for them both and wanted to see them work. I loved their meet-cute, I liked the workplace romance and that this was nyc based!
Now let me gush about the author, Ali! She was one of my first booksta friends and we bonded over our love for romance and Tessa Bailey lol. She’s funny, she’s kind and seems like one of those girls you’d be instantly best friends with. Her personality shines in this book as her characters were funny, charming, and so fun. I found myself grinning throughout this book, because I was enjoying myself but also because Ali nailed it. I can only imagine how hard it is to write your first book and publish it independently, and I’m just so damn proud of her. I’m not saying this because she’s a friend, but as a romance reader, this is one of the best debuts I’ve read. I can’t WAIT to read her next book.
