An Accumulation of Dread contains Adam L. G. Nevill's first three short story collections. Twenty six tales of horror, the weird and the uncanny, collected together for the first time. Some Will Not Sleep: Winner of the British Fantasy Award for Best Collection, 2017. In ghastly harmony with the nightmarish visions of the award-winning writer's novels, these stories blend a lifelong appreciation of horror culture with the grotesque fascinations and childlike terrors that are the author's own.Hasty for the Dark is the second short story collection from the award-winning and widely appreciated British writer, Adam L. G. Nevill. The author's best horror stories from 2009 to 2015 are collected here for the first time.Wyrd and Other Derelictions: Derelictions are weird tales that tell of aftermaths and of new and liminal places. Each location has witnessed catastrophe, infernal visitations, or unearthly transformations. But across these landscapes of murder, genocide and invasion, crucial evidence remains. And it is the task of the reader to sift through ruin and ponder the residual enigma, to behold and wonder at the full horror visited on mankind.Praise for Adam L. G. Nevill's short story "Great storytelling . . . delightfully unexpected visions and hellscapes." Gingernuts of Horror"In Some Will Not Sleep nothing is sacred, nothing is safe, and goodness me, if you like horror fiction you’re going to absolutely love every damn minute." Pop Mythology"Wonderfully macabre tales that cover the whole gamut of the horrific. The supernatural rubs shoulders with the bizarre, body horror and psychological trauma walk hand in hand." The Eloquent Page“These tales are dark, starkly violent, but also subtle and ambiguous, often at the same time.” This is Horror"A master of creating oppressive, creepy atmospheres and of taking your imagination to places you would rather he didn’t." The Grim Reader

This omnibus of three of Nevill's short story collections is a must-read. I'd compare this progression to the rise of David Bowie. The first collection of stories (Some Will Not Sleep) are good, solid tales that stand out from the crowd. Like Ziggy Stardust, Nevill isn't content with being great. His second collection (Hasty For the Dark) shows the author becoming an iconic voice in horror. He's still not satisfied, and like Bowie in Berlin he reinvents everything with the final collection (Wyrd and Other Derelictions), where Nevill finds the very essence of a horror story and reduces it to a very pure state. Do not ignore.
What God Hath Wrought is 10/10. I'd read a novel or watch a movie for this short story. I will never forgive Nevill for the imagery in Mother's Milk. It will haunt me.
