My husband missed our daughter's birth because he was too busy with work. Story of our lives. And the four other women in his life -- his ex-wife, his PA, his mother and his sister -- all hate me. So, I didn't think he'd care when I served him with divorce papers. Well, that got his attention.
I never read anything from Wattpad but after seeing the reviews, I decided to take a chance and so glad I did as I'm bored these days with all the crap out there. This writer is talented and I don't know why she is on Wattpad to be honest.
It's a story about a married couple of 3 years and of the husband who prioritizes work over his wife. It takes her walking out on him to get his head out of his ass and finally wake the hell up and make her and his kid a priority.
Like others stated, this is the first story I ever read where the Hero prioritizes his wife over his kid (once he wakes up that is). Don't get me wrong, he loves & is crazy about his baby daughter, but his focus and attention is in showing his wife that SHE is his reason for living. The grovel here is AMAZING!
Backstory: Hero has a business that takes over his entire life at the cost of his wife & child. They've been married for 3 years and heroine is pregnant with their first child and while she was in labor, he ignored her and got lost in his work and she ends up having the kid all on her own.
Then we have 4 bitchy females (The ex-wife who still works for him, his Assistant, his mother & sister) who do everything to undermine and make the heroine's life miserable. When she attempts to tell him of how they are treating her, he doesn't hear her - until she walks out on him and it takes him 2 days to realize his wife & kid are gone.
So we have a story that once he wakes the hell up and pulls his head out of his ass, he focuses on making things right between him and his wife and becoming the best Dad & husband ever! And the heroine doesn't make it easy for him. It takes him a year to show heroine that he has changed before she takes his ass back! Gotta love it.
Anyway, this was an enjoyable story that I liked a lot and read in one sitting. It's safe. No cheating but I wish he had not been married before. He was married to OW for 10 years and got "comfortable" with her. The OW still works for him and he calls her "babe" sometimes out of habit to which hurts heroine and there is a scene in which heroine voices how the OW knows him longer & better, how she seen him naked and how she got many orgasms. It hurts her to think of him with the OW.
As someone who doesn't like to recommend anything because everyone has different likes/dislikes, I think this one will meet everyone's taste.
Heroine serves him divorce papers, leaves him, and moves out? Check ✅ check ✅ check ✅
The hero grovels for a loooong time? You bet it’s a big ASSSSS CHECK ✅
😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
Case is a workaholic who spends WAY too much time at work and not enough time with his VERY pregnant wife, Gemma 😑.
She goes into labor and he’s not taking any of her calls. His assistant keeps not putting her through either 🤬. She ends up giving birth to their daughter and it isn’t until 2 days (yes TWO F’ING DAYS) that he figures out his wife isn’t home and that their baby was born 😑😑😑😑.
And Gemma is done 🤷♀️ She’s given him chance after chance to change, and she’s putting herself and her baby first FINALLY
So. Bye Case 💁♀️
BUT he’s not going down with a fight 😅 he’s gonna prove to her that he means it this time.
And he’s willing to do ALLLLL the groveling in order to prove it 👀.
what I liked/loved —the groveling 👏. Talk about making him go through the wringer 🤣. Welp. It needed to happen 💁♀️. Great job Gemma 🤣👏
—Case waking the f up 👏. Took you long enough 😑
—the times I laughed 🤣
—their baby 🥹 such a good baby!!!
—THE FARM ANIMALS 🤣. ERMAGOD!! Can I move in with them?!?!? I love how their farm just kept expanding and more and more animals join🤣
—the animals fighting back 🤣. I was DEEEAD 🤡 bahahaha those evil women needed to be taught a lesson 💁♀️
—the comeuppance 👀. Yeah. I don’t feel bad 🤣
—the epilogue 🥹. 15 years later 🫶
—Third (Gemma’s cousin lol) 🤣this man cracked me up
What I wanted more of: —why the FUUUUUK would you think it’s okay to work with your EX WIFE of 10 years Case?!? 🙄😒🤬 for a smart, business man? So stooooopid 🤦♀️
—no OMD 😑
—maybe have Gemma make him suffer more? 🤣🫣🫣🫣🫣
—we don’t get any 🔥 lol but it’s okay
Overall, I really enjoyed this. I honestly didn’t think Case could be redeemed lol
Also. I LOOOOVED the comments in Wattpad 🤣🤣🤣 it makes it such a fun experience ❤️
⚠️safety squad ⚠️ -no cheating/sharing/omd* -the H works with his ex wife of 10 years. She, along with his assistant, cause problems -the H thinks the h’s cousin is a man that’s interested in her -HEA/epilogue/15 years
"I owe you everything, Gemma. I wish you could be me for one day so you could see the way you completely fill my mind, so you could understand how much I love you in a way words can't even begin to describe. It's that big and all encompassing."
This is the kind of grovel I'm looking for! Honestly, I didn't have high hopes for this because marriage-in-crisis stories were always a miss for me. But this one, despite being a novella, gave me all the needed groveling that made me swoon and root for them to get back together.
Case (36) did his best to earn back the love and trust of his wife, Gemma (26), after taking her for granted for the three years they were married. It was so easy to believe his words and feel the sincerity and determination behind them, but to see him follow through on his promises, omg! Swoon. 🥰
Another reason I enjoyed it was that Gemma didn't give in so easily—she made him work hard for it for nearly a year! How I wish more FMCs were like her—someone who would take more time to make up their mind, and not just be swayed by sugary words and false promises.
The absence of spice and steamy scenes in this story was another thing I really loved. In these troubled marriages, the MMC usually uses the body-betraying syndrome to manipulate the FMC into giving him another chance, which always irritates the crap out of me. I'm very happy that the author's sole focus is to demonstrate how committed the couple is to saving their marriage without the need for involving physical aspect.
Overall, this was really awesome, and the grovel was top-tier! Although I don't read much on Wattpad these days, the reviews for this book piqued my interest. And I'm really happy I got to read this. I loved it, and I was beyond thrilled that the MCs got their true HEA. It was well deserved and I loved the epilogue. ❤️❤️❤️
**Safety: no cheating of any kind. Hero is oblivious to wannabe OWs (2) and completely shuts them down once his eyes have been opened.
**I'd also like to mention from the top that there are no steamy parts or sex scenes within the story. I'd usually be a little annoyed by the lack of intimacy and heat between the couple, but this really worked for me with this particular story. If there had been any betraying-body syndrome or if the Hero used seduction, it would've completely ruined the integrity of the promised grovel. So I need to give the author a lot of credit for going that direction. *credit given*
11/28/23- Now THIS is how you do a grand gesture and a grovel all in one. Goddamn. This has got to be one of the best grovels ever written because this guy was dedicated to proving himself over a long period of time and we were actually shown how he changed and stayed that way. Call me crazy, but those 24-hour-to-one-week periods until complete forgiveness is given by the heroine just don't cut it.
I usually hate grand gestures, especially if they override the grovel (if there is any groveling in the first place, am I right?). But this was an almost year-long grovel/grand gesture meshed smoothly together into a longer time period of contrition where he truly focused on his wife and child. I have to say, the Hero was pretty cute with the baby, especially being so protective as to spell out the word "euthanized" instead of saying it in front of her when she's only 6-weeks-old and sleeping. (They open a rescue farm together while the heroine takes one month at a time to give the Hero another chance. He's elated that he gets to shovel cow shit instead of working to death at a corporate job.) And this might sound callous to some, but he puts his wife's importance ahead of his daughter's, which I found so fucking refreshing after coming across so many books with the heroine taking a subtle but still noticeable backseat to the child.
---"All I want is to be the husband you need, Gemma. Nothing is more important to me." ---"Not even Ainsley?" I teased but he took it seriously. ---"Not even our daughter," he said. "I love her, no doubt about it. Our little girl means the world to me, but you, Gem, you mean everything to me."
I mean...knock me over with a feather. I NEVER see this! I'll probably come back to this review one day and think I overreacted, but children take an almost unfair precedence in the eyes of Heroes. It is sweet to read about and it is necessary to prove to the reader that the Hero is capable of being a loving father, but I usually feel like it's to the detriment of the heroine's importance in the Hero's life. I know it's not a competition, but I prefer the heroine to be #1 Priority to the Hero 24/7, 365.
I also loved the broken-Hero moment where he was served divorce papers and he was so filled with self-loathing that he destroyed a park bench with his bare hands. Authors, take note. More of that, please.
Whoever this author is, you did something great here. I don't know what's holding you back from truly publishing, but this little story was so much better than some of the absolute crap that gets published these days by established authors. And all of your covers are gorgeous! Stunning illustration without morphing into the cartoon-ish covers that have been slowly taking over romance books.
3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK or decent reads. ========================= Reading on Wattpad. This author writes well and hooks the reader. I don't like reading on Wattpad, but I still read until the end. It reminded me of those Harlequin readings I used to buy on paper. These millionaires are so focused on work that they leave the decisions that really matter in their lives in the hands of untrustworthy assistants.
4 stars for the grovel. This story is posted on Wattpad and can be read free there. Please be aware in all these books the Hero messes up in varying degrees from saying something very disloyal to full out cheating, each story is different.
Here's what you'll get with my stories: A strong h. An H who messes up (never the h!) with either cheating (and I consider kissing OW cheating) or some other betrayal. An H who gets his a$$ handed to him for said mess up. An H doing the grovel to HEA! (Always, always, always have to have an HEA between the H and h, but the H has to really work for it.) And, in cases of nasty OW...karma will be stopping by to say hello.
What you'll never get: An h moving on to another man in a serious way. The h having revenge s3x (it's just not going to happen). The h and OW becoming friends (that is also never going to happen).
The Hero misses the birth of his daughter and doesn't even notice she's not a home for i think it's 2 days... lol he's so busy with work, meetings and interfering secretary and family and an ex-wife that they manage to side track him. He is completely mortified and it takes time to work his way back. The heroine really lets him have it and tears a strip off him. HEA.

I should have written my review right after I finished this…. This is how you write a groveling book👏🏻👏🏻 Case missed his wife’s child birth because he was working…she had to go through her first pregnancy, childbirth all alone while he was celebrating a successful business closure, with his ex wife mind you😡Now he had absolutely no feelings for her but it would be hard to see it differently from his wifes POV. That was the final straw for Gemma. She was done with his behavior👏🏻👏🏻 There are 4 vindictive bitches trying to ruin their relationship, his mother, sister, PA and ex wife. I freaking loved the comeuppance here! He cut them off so cruelly and I loved every second of it. He as such and idiot and had no idea what was happening behind him. They were so awful to his wife and boy did she let him have! I was so happy with how she told him EVERYTHING that happened to her. Normally authors tell us through the h internal monologue but it’s never fully expressed to the H…that is not the case here. She lays into him🙌🏻 In return he lays into everyone of these conniving bitches!! Exceptional groveling! She does NOT take him back and takes over a year before she gives him anything. I loved this❤️
2.5✨ This has to be the most frustrating book beginnings ever😭
A father missing his first born child's birth because he was freaking busy in meetings and getting deals.. and there were few witchy women his life separating him from his wife... Now this start itself was too extreme too fictional and if at all this happens to someone in real life the woman should definitely leave and not look back. Because you just CANT ignore and forget about your pregnant wife for 2 whole days and then get to know she had the baby without you. So ya too extreme case scenario beginning.
But i get it the whole point to show was some good groveling as is the author name😌so ya if someone wants to learn how to write grovel this book can help. The groveling was good but just too fictional and unrealistic.
Can be read just to read some grovel. No cheating. HEA😇

He is to caught up in work and missed the birth of their child
He has good grovel he put in the e hard work he really lived his wife.
Safe His ex wife still works for his company and is close w his family He does not see her that way I don’t think he was in love w her either it was just convenient cause the are both work junkies His family has mistreated her
He puts them all on their place and fights for his family
i started reading her works but i need some satisfying grovelling or revenge and angst that would make my heart really hurt. but I just cannot get it from her so far 5 stories of her in. Any book recs, that is safe please (of course) 😭
I don't think I want some calm and tame grovelling. I want the MMC, crying, shaking, throwing up, begging on his knees, Being in visible pain, STRUGGLING. FMC not giving in fast, kinda petty but like yk, you would feel, empowered and like Oh, "✨Women✨"
I know I'm being hyper critical, but I just don't think certain things are redeemable.
I'm the kinda girl who puts myself in the characters' shoes and wonders if it happened to me, would I forgive this man?
And truth be told, if my husband of 3 years missed the birth of our child, neglected me for the entirety of our marriage, continued disregarding all my concerns and emotions about our marriage (or being performative for a couple of weeks when I raise these issues), allowed not only his mother and sister to walk all over me but also his ex-wife and assistant, still called his ex-wife babe on occasion.... well, I would never take that man back in any universe. Even if he crawled his way out of hell for me, the answer will always be no.
I don't know if that's because I have too high of a standard or just value my worth, but yeah. Miss your kids' birth for work? Just show yourself the door.

Nice story where the H needs a wake up call to really sort out his priorities. That is his wife, his marriage and his newborn. A 'coven of witches' (mother, sister, PA, ex-wife) ensure that the h/H's marriage grows distant and uncommunicative. He's always working, reaches home just to sleep, sometimes not even meeting his pregnant wife - so much so that he's unaware that his wife isn't home for past two days! The opening scenes where the h is alone and practically abandoned by her workaholic husband are heart rending. Ofc, he grovels. Best is the justice/comeuppance ge serves the coven!
Aww Case ended up being so sweet but when he called his ex wife BABE I wanted to throat punch him. This was the reason for the missing star because…no.
Gemma was a great character per usual like most of the fmcs in this authors stories. She endured a lot over the past three years and she had enough and finally walked away. If I were in her shoes I would have walked away way sooner, like maybe the first time I heard my husband call his ex wife babe. So yeah I’m glad she made him work for it. He definitely made up for being an inconsiderate jerk. He took some extreme measures to prove to Gemma that their family was the most important thing to him. I was so happy that he cut all ties with the women trying to ruin this marriage. Going as far as cutting his mom and sister out of his life completely.
NO CHEATING OW DRAMA (in the form of his mom, sister, ex wife and assistant all trying to sabotage his marriage) NO OM DRAMA SEPARATION FOR A FEW DAYS
-2nd chance -no cheating -dual POV -MCs have been known each other for 3 years and have been married for 2 -h(26)/H(36) -the H' ex-wife caused drama but he had no interest in her, he made it clear that the h was the love of his life: **"I never felt even a tenth for her what I feel for you."**, he said that they were never really in love, they just shared the same drive to succeed and that's why they stayed together for so long (10 years I think) -there's another OW who tried to flirt with the hero in front of the h but he talked to her boss and made him fire her -the H's fuck ups: #1-he missed the birth of his first baby bc he was working, #2-he always put his work above the h (every time the h told him that he was working too much he would cut his hours but just for a few weeks and then he was back to his workaholic ways) #3-when the h left him he didn't even notice, it took him 2 days to realize that she wasn't home, #4-he knew his wife was about to pop but he never called her to ask how she was doing, the day she gave birth she told him that she was having contractions but he didn't pay attention, he was more concerned about his business deal, #5-he didn't take the h seriously whenever she told him that his mom, his sister, his assistant and his ex-wife were bitches to her, #6 he made his stupid assistant buy gifts for his wife! (ughh I hate when heroes do this 😠 it's so fucking impersonal) and every time he sent her to buy his wife a gift he made sure she bought herself something as well to "show her his appreciation for her willingness to handle those domestic tasks so he didn't lose time from the office" 😒 (little did he know the bitch was buying the cheapest most generic gifts for the h and expensive jewelry for herself), #7-he used to call his ex-wife 'babe' and on one occasion he called her that in front of the h 🙄 (the day he missed his baby's birth he had invited his employees to celebrate the closing of a business deal, his ex-wife was there -she works for him- and the stupid man called her 'babe' 😩 **"Night, babe," I said without thinking, then winced. Sometimes, it was easy to fall back into the habits of our years together, beginning as freshmen in college.**, he also called the h 'babe' once in the story and the h told him to never call her that again bc she knew that was his pet name for his ex -the groveling was phenomenal, as usual with this author -I loved that the h made him work for her forgiveness for almost a year 😌 and the hero did redeem himself in my eyes -I thought it was so cute how often the H talked about his daughter being a genius, it was kind of adorable -the epilogue was great: 15 years later, they're still happily married and have 3 children

it wasn't bad for a wattpad story.. but it's not as well-written and well-rounded as it would have to be if it were going to be published.
it was also pretty out there at times... to the point of ridiculousness. like the whole comeuppance of the group of mean women. of course they all fall over into cow waste or whatever and get attacked by goats/pigs/animals. it was a cartoon-ish showdown, and didn't really fit the vibe of the book.
and then the hero gets some of the women convicted and thrown in prison and he'll "make sure they never make more than minimum wage once they get out". and im here like.... the hypocrisy of this man... so, what, HE is allowed to change his ways and pay penance and eventually be forgiven and lead a happy life? but these women, who, yeah, were catty as hell to the heroine, should be punished for the rest of their lives? even after serving actual prison sentences?
that was too much for me. the main theme of the book is penance and forgiveness. so I'd want that to be the case for the other characters too. if the hero is really happy and content with his life, he should be okay with just leaving them alone to pick themselves up after prison. don't kick someone who's already down. it was a bit of cruelty that's just very far removed from everything i believe and far removed from the story's message as well.

I have to say I have never read watt pad novels, well at least for many many many years but this one was really good. His Mother, his sister, his assistant and his ex-wife all conspired to get rid of his New wife but after three years the h is done with their shenanigans. She is giving birth alone because her husbands phone is going straight to voice mail and his assistant isn't passing on her messages or something. They ate in the middle of a big negotiation but he never checked in with her until two days later. He realized he missed his child's birth. And so then she gave him some angst filled helpings of 'come to Jesus' and what those woman had done to her. He was totally shook up and realized he had really messed up. But this man put the l in Grovel for sure. He groveled and groveled and groveled some more even. 30 days st a time. And he totally kept his promises this time. He refers to these women as a coven and it totally fit. I love how much he loved her and his baby and the epilogue was perfect. And don't get me started about the animals and the farm. It is hysterical. I really liked this book. Plus its safe! There was some angst at the beginning but this hero really knew his stuff.

What he did wasn't exactly groveling especially with how much he fucked up
Getting rid of everything that caused him to not be there for Gemma and what caused her to leave and divorce him, is bare minimum.
How he handled the women in his life was highly unrealistic and didn't feel satisfying at all.
He ignored Gemma's concerns about them for 3 years always gaslighting her and shutting down what she has to say, and then boom all of a sudden he believes her and got rid of them?
I do admire Gemma's strength though and her willingness to hold her ground for her daughter's sake, the fact that she lived Case so much that she never entertained the idea of leaving him, despite the abuse that his mother, sister, ex-wife, and assistant has put. Untill her daughter was born and she did not want her daughter to go through same thing.
Gemma's cousin Third was mad annoying, if my cousin's been through what gemma has, i would NOT be rooting for the guy wft?
It's safe No cheating Owd from his ex wife who's still in his life, she's always touching and kissing his cheek and he also still calls her babe
*won’t be rating these books (or at least some of them) just because I have no idea how I feel about them lol not used to reading books where the asshole gets the girl. Kudos to the author for making me rage out on all the guys in these stories. Can’t stand any of the guys but some get redeemed in my eyes*
*OWD- his mom, sister, PA and ex wife are awful and they let their distain for Gemma known to her. Case has no feels for ex wife, he’s just an idiot who can’t see how awful the women in his life are being to his pregnant wife. She does try to bring it up in the beginning of their marriage but he shuts it down telling her she needs to ‘mature’ more and get over it basically.
In my opinion he was definitely redeemed. The lengths he went through to prove himself was top tier. Just glad he was able to get his head out of his ass after he realizes he missed the birth of their daughter. Absolutely LOVED the farm 😂
you see. i could believe the crazy mom, sister, assistant and ex-wife. it could've been real or close enough to real that i could go in.
but... every woman case seems to interact outside of gemma wants to bone him, be it his money or looks. and like, i know that a lot of people would go or it.
but some people would be more discreet than do this in the face of his wife and child and others would be totally put off because of.
so yeah. this golden dick thing going on kinda took me out of the story for a moment.
*
read a bit more and see that there really is women that can interact with case without their panties goin down.
but heh. like... you don't give grace to people change and evolve. you target them and make their lives miserable for what? i don't know. i guess i can't understand hate like that.
not for this reason.
but i liked the writing so yeah i'm gonna check out more by this author!
- 3 stars - I never thought I’d say there was too much grovel but this was just over the top and only worked because he was a billionaire - everything was just so much…. the mom, ex-wife, sister, and assistant were so villainized it was comical - what Case did was good though, it was both recognizing what he did was wrong, and putting in the effort to show he really changed - I almost DNFed at 55%, set it aside for a few days, and then just finished it because I was curious how good the grovel was going to be, since some people rave about GroveltoHEA ❌ feels
Case looked like he'd been hit in the head with a baseball bat after we'd talked about Rhiannon, and I kind of wished he had been. And that I'd been the one swinging it.
"Lady, I don't trust you to give me a tour of the house. What makes you think I'd trust you with my child?"
"I'll negotiate every thirty days for the rest of our lives if that's what it takes, Gemma."

These short little books that start in the middle are extremely well written. They start when the cheating/misjudgement/betrayal happens, and purely portray the hero realizing his fuckup and trying to win the heroine back. You get the hero's perspective when he realizes how badly he screwed up. You get the heroine's awful feelings of betrayal. What you don't get is the beginning of them getting together and falling in love, there is no meet-cute or any of that. It really is like jumping in halfway through, right to the black moment.
And... they are so addictive. Some are very similar. As my review for each will be!
The author follows a pattern Hero does something bad, h goes away he grovels , serves comeuppance to the evil other sand grovels and grovels that you start feeling uncomfortable and bad for the H and not good but still the h doesn't relent and he grovels till it's like everything is about h and nothing is about H am sorry this bugs me Good things about her books is H fucks up and she makes them grovel Bad thing is She makes them grovel so so much that at times it feels the author completely emasculate them I like good grovels but i also want it to be in way that even the h appreciates it and forgives and moves forward not where everything from now on depends on the way h wants and if it doesn't happen apology is not worth while.
Satisfying amount of angst and OW nastiness in a story about an H neglecting the h, his wife to the point that he missed the birth of his daughter and didn't realize for two days that his wife wasn't home. Being served with divorce papers is his wake up call as his wife lists all the meanness from his personal assistant, his ex-wife, his mother and his sister she has endured for the past three years and the complete lack of support he provided for her. The H proves himself by cutting the women out of their lives, giving up the job that consumed him since he was six years old and buying property to build a new life on a farm so that he is always around to take care of his wife and daughter. Good measure of groveling. Clean story.
