The second PHENOMENALLY FUNNY out-of-this-world adventure from YouTube sensation and TV presenter Adam B is perfect for fans of David Baddiel and Ben MIller!
Thirteen-year-old Adam has made a lot of mistakes in his life, but this has to be the biggest.
Thanks to a MASSIVE fight with his little brother Callum, the mysterious and magical computer algorithm Popularis Incrementum has exploded - and accidentally transported them both to a completely different world!
No, not just a different world. A different dimension: one where Adam and Callum were never born and the internet doesn't exist, and neither does any of the technology they rely on to make their epic YouTube videos!
Will the brothers survive in this strange Altiverse where everything is ALMOST like home but ISN'T? And how do you stop an evil villain from sabotaging your dad's world-changing technology when in this universe your dad doesn't even know who you are?
But for now there's only one question in Adam's mind: how do they get back home?
The idea was a lot of fun and I loved seeing the boys be able to bond with their father in this dimension, I loved this altiverse and see our boys try to change things for the better, the Youtube stuff at the start was a lot of fun, there were tons of exciting moments and fabulous art by James Lancett. The ending was fab both the coming home (no spoiler, I mean it is a kid's book you know it is going to end good) and with what mom's plans were. I also really liked the cover, that is what pulled me to the book.
However Callum was just horrible. He didn't always mean it (and he also had his moments), but at times I just wanted to shake him. Another little sibling syndrome book, it is quite rare for me to like younger siblings, especially when they have such a presence. Quite often they are whiny and annoying. Like Callum. Adam was OK, but sometimes he was just way too preachy and acted more like a dad. Which was weird.
My daughter really enjoyed this sequel. I liked the story but found the first novel more comical. This story was a bit more serious but still had comic elements.
How much time do you spend using the Internet (don’t worry I won’t judge, just want you to think about it). Now think about how long you spend on a mobile phone or other device. You have given it some thought; does it make you realise how much technology is part of your life? Does it make you wonder what you would do if it stopped working or perhaps worse still if you didn’t have it? It is an interesting question to put to yourself every now and then because, well, it could happen. After all anything is possible and even more so if you are Adam B. Adam has managed to ‘win the internet’ but now he is back and about to destroy it! Have you met Adam? He is the creation of Adam B(eales) who has been marvellously bought to life by James Lancett in not one, but two books. Adam Destroys the Internet is his second hilarious disaster story…
Adam is skiing, down a glass roof, attached to one of the tallest skyscrapers in London. Just a normal Saturday afternoon of filming for the YouTube channel which almost ends in disaster! But with the help of his younger brother Callum the day is saved, and they didn’t even need an intervention from Callum’s AI ‘friend’ Popularis Incrementum. But that doesn’t mean Callum has stopped talking to his friend, despite his promises to the contrary. But when the two (Callum and the AI) get into an argument and Popularis Incrementum goes haywire Adam and Callum are blasted into another dimension, one where they don’t actually exist… Nor does the tech they rely on for their YouTube work… It is almost like their world, but it isn’t and then there are the greedy villains who are trying to steal their futuristic tech… Can they find a way to make it home, safe, and well, and keep the Internet alive? A laugh-a-minute action-packed adventure.
