The Bourbon Bride

Rate this book
She could have fled, but she chose to stay, and I’m just shameless enough to use that to my advantage to get what I want.

Hayes Olsen: Billionaire, Demanding Businessman, Killer of Dreams…

I rule as king of the corporate underworld, my worst deeds performed as CFO of Olympus International where I reign with my two brothers. My ruthlessness means I’m not well-liked, and far from accepted, but as luck would have it, the fates intervene on my behalf, sending a sweet debutante into my garden on the very night society gets its claws in her.

Her innocence kept her at my mercy and now I’m never letting her go.

Paige Fairchild: Hotel Heiress, Southern Belle, Virgin…

I begged Mama to have my debutante ball at an exclusive nightclub. Meeting the club’s mysterious owner, however, was a bittersweet twist of fate. Hayes is refined, well-aged, and sinfully hot in a way that promises temptation and a world of pleasures I’ve never known. He could be the very key I’ve needed to leave my tightly controlled life behind, but it’s a risk that could have disastrous consequences.

I ran straight into the arms of the devil, and now he’ll never let me leave.

Ohmygoshhhh. This book. I’m down for a Hades/Persephone retelling any way I can get it, but in a southern debutante/billionaire romance with an age gap? There is even a puppers in it named Cerberus 😭😭😭 I absolutely adored this book and flew through it. There was spice, there was characters that were complete douchecanoes, there was a trans rep, there was a giant dog that loves only Paige and Hayes. Did I mention there was a dog? 🐶

❤️ Tropes ❤️
💋 Hades/Persephone retelling
💋 billionaire romance
💋 age gap
💋 marriage of convenience
💋 forced proximity
💋 touch her and ☠️
💋 and more 😘

Paige has learned to chose her battles when it comes to her mom and her high society ways. She was able to push off having a ridiculous debutante ball until she was 21, but couldn’t get out of it. She put her foot down on the location, choosing The Abyss, the southern gothic club that has an amazing garden. She escapes for a breather into the garden during her ball and runs into the owner, Hayes. He’s older, but doesn’t treat her like just a debutante that is looking for a husband. So when she runs from her mom the next night, she ends up at Hayes’ club. She runs away to Atlanta with him to get away from her mother, but these sparks that are flying between them might just need to be explored too.

Thank you to Sunny Babe PR for the copy, all thoughts are my own.

Hades and Persephone retelling say less!

I really enjoyed The Bourbon Bride and with how it ended, I quickly downloaded book 2!

Okay so, my biggest worry was the age gap part of this, because I don't normally seek this trope out, however, I have read books with age gaps and luckily they have been great along with this one!

I think it helps massively if the FMC is mature for her age, knowledgeable, uses her brain, and not silly, though it does help as well that the MMC is also mature and respects them and they communicate well.

Plus, it's a billionaire romance so who was I just say no🤭

This was such a cute story though and really captivating, storyline was really great and the characters were all really likeable!

Cerberus stole the show!🐶

Paige Fairchild has her entire life mapped out for her by her parents, & during one of their family dinners, Paige learns that her parents wish to marry her off to Garrison Davis, a man that tried to r*pe her when she was just 14, in order to settle a business deal between both families. With nowhere else to flee to, Paige finds herself at an elusive nightclub owned by Hayes Olsen. Hayes offers Paige refuge at his home in Atlanta, & over the span of few days, these two fall fast & HARD for one another…

This book was a whirlwind of romance & drama! At just less than 270 pages, it packs a punch & is very fast paced so you’ll fly through this book in no time. It’s a great palate cleanser, & a great read if youre just looking for something short, quick & extra spicy🔥 There is quite a bit of drama towards the end of the book that had me hooked however this book ends of a cliffhanger so this series needs to be read in order.

Paige is obedient & the perfect southern belle, however there is also a hint of rebellion underneath. Despite being an heiress, she doesn’t come off as being a snob, & is still very grounded & humble. I loved her playful attitude & humour. Hayes is your cliche morally grey billionaire & he is downright obsessed with Paige which was so great🤭 His protectiveness over Paige & the way he would do anything for her had me kicking my feet. I absolutely hated Paige’s mother & disliked her father👎🏼

Paige & Hayes’ romance was VERY Insta lovey. They met & fell in love in the span of like 7 days, and usually I don’t mind instalove, however I really wish we could’ve gotten to see more build up to the relationship as well as more progression within the relationship, specifically regarding their emotional connection because I feel like their connection was solely physical/sexual. However their physical connection was VERY hot😮‍💨

Read if you like: billionaire romance, touch her and die vibes, marriage of convenience, virgin fmc, forced proximity, age gap, family drama, betrayal

It's not very often when I read duet books, but the blurb captivated me and I decided to give Hayes and Paige's story a chance.

Those two had felt an instant attraction to each other, that eventually grew into love at first sight. Everything that was happening between them was going too fast for my liking. Yes, there was insta love, but sadly I couldn't feel it. For me, there was a huge gap in the communication between them, and sometimes I was wondering if they would finally start speaking properly to each other. I liked the plot, but some things were definitely missing and that stopped me from fully liking their love story.

I did love the love scenes. They were hot, spicy and full of smut. They were wonderful making love together and the spice was never ending.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5/5
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 4/5 (spicy af, open door, frequent)

Thank you to Sunny Babe PR and Adrian R. Hale for providing me with a copy of this book early and allowing me to share my thoughts with other readers!

I loved jumping into the world of a hot billionaire and hotel heiress experiencing both modern and traditional challenges in the Atlanta and Savannah. It was amazing to see the LGBTQ2+ representation in Alex, Paige’s childhood bff who transitioned from female to male. Moreover, the best part was the normalization of it. On that note though, is one of my only minor critiques. What happened to Alex?! What happened to the plan to visit him after New Years?? So, Paige has this meltdown, texts him, says they’ll follow up and then nothing! No Alex for the rest of the book! Not even response to the marriage of convenience?! I just needed to say that and now back to the great parts...

I am always a sucker for a good Hades x Persephone vibes, and this was an amazing rendition of that. It was subtly woven into their characters and very well done, especially during their first meeting. I also really enjoyed how the possessive mmc wasn’t toxic, it was more like protective.
I am definitely a girlie who MELTS when the possessive/protective MMC says “Who did this to you?".

I am always a little nervous about the execution of "age gap" and "virgin FMC" tropes. They are such a hit or miss. In this case, both were well executed. Paige might not be sexually experienced (for good reason, which I appreciated her having a reason for her choice and weaving it into her character/motivations), but she is not "some silly debutante", she's well educated and responds with grace and self-respect to numerous situations. This all matches the maturity of the MMC, who is 14 years her senior, but the chemistry works because she is emotionally mature and they both communicate.

Shoutout to Cerb! We love a well developed, loyal puppy companion! Cerberus's character was an epic addition that makes this book worth reading alone.
“He’s a big softie, isn’t he?”
“No, he’s a guard dog, but I think you broke him.”

I'm also a sucker for praise trope and I personally think it is a fantastic compliment to the protective aspect of the MMC. Tell me, is there any better pairing than "who did this to you?" & “that’s my good girl”! Whew. Didn't think so! So, you can guess my thoughts on the spice in this book are outstanding. The smut is immaculate! These two have epic chemistry!

"Why does that innocent question from your lips sound like the most sinful suggestion?”

There are lots of tempting loose ends that I am dying to consume in Book 2. This book was stunningly written, beautiful writing style that is super binge-worthy with epic spice. Even if there is a moment or two that’s a little...ambitious..for “first time” expectations but overall really, really well written. This is a series not to sleep on!

Thank you sooooo much @sunnybabepr and @adrianrhale for allowing me to read The Bourbon Bride 🥃 when I tell you I have a new obsession, I have a new obsession and I’m telling all my friends to read it. I JUST got my physical copies today and I already have one friend looking to borrow book one ☝️

Paige Fairchild is the heiress to a Southern Hotel Empire, a debutant, and a v!rg!n. Hayes Olsen is a ruthless billionaire and the owner of a sinfully exclusive nightclub. In no world should these two mesh. But when Paige runs away from her debutant ball, she finds herself face to face with Hayes. He’s tall, handsome, and far too old for Paige. Yet the two are drawn to one another and soon find themselves alone in Atlanta.

I am such a s!uť for a Hades and Persephone retelling of any kind but this went above and beyond my expectations! The shower scene was 🥵🥵 and their banter was 🫶 on top of all of this, Adrian is the absolute sweetest! I’m not one to message authors but I sent her a message and she immediately messaged me back and surprised me with the PERFECT personalizations. I’m literally obsessed and if you don’t already follow her you 10000p need to.

I hope this can be a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for everyone too 🫶

ARC read! Thank you to Sunny Babe PR for the read in exchange for an honest review.

Hades X Persephone meets gossip girl with wealthy families, debutante balls and cut throat business deals. This story is far from the big city but takes place in the south. Bless our hearts!

This dual POV story is told from Paige, hotel heiress, and Hayes' perspective. Hayes is CFO of a privately owned business conglomerate. He wants to dip his toes into the hotel business and sees Paige as the first stepping stone. The only problem is, she may be the undoing to his monstrous ways.

The angsty swoon worthy connection between Paige and Hayes will leave you burning for more. Can the God of the underworld rise above his stern and pitiless ways?

This is a Greek mythology retelling with a modern, southern twist. Book one in a series of three and leaves you with wanting to pick up book two right after you finish.

A really good age gap, billionaire romance story.
Paige needs to escape, her parents plan to marry her off to her childhood nemesis, for a beneficial business deal with his family. The nightmare guy who tried to rape her as a teenager.
Trying to escape, she runs into Hayes, the extremely private & older billionaire club owner she met at her 21st debutant ball. He offers her an escape & she runs to Atlanta & stays there while she attempts to get her mother to change her mind.
But Hayes finds himself pleasantly surprised at Paige’s maturity & charm & finds himself not wanting her to leave.
This is such a fast & easy read & I felt for & adored Paige.
There is a second book that continues the story & I’m off to read that now.

Another new to me author and Adrian R Hale has hit it out of the park with this slowburn age gap romance. It’s the first book in the Southern Gods series so yes it does end on a cliffhanger but not one where you’ll want to throw your kindle, since it’s heroine, Paige Fairchild is a debutante southern belle, lets it would be accurate to channel my inner Scarlett and say it’s more of a ‘tomorrow is another day’ kind of cliffhanger.

The hero Hayes Olsen despite being a billionaire definitely wasn’t the kind of man Paige’s mama would want her daughter to bring home. He was large and dirty mouthed with an edge of danger that had drawn Paige in like a moth to a flame. The chemistry between them had flamed into life from the moment they’d met at her ball but despite the attraction Hayes had an ulterior motive. I loved the dynamics and the flirting between this pair, it was like watching a sultry dance and the fact that they didn’t jump into bed immediately made the built up of sexual tension all the more delicious. With a well written story The Bourbon Bride was a strong introduction to this authors books.

Oh my gosh, this book is phenomenal. It's hot, sexy, and just irristitable to put down. The chemistry between Hayes and Paige was electric and honestly, it was also kind of adorable how much this man cared for her. I loved the character of Paige, as she found herself throughout the book and you could just see how possessive Hayes was with her. Overall I loved this book and I am 100 percent picking up book two!

✨ I received this book as an ARC for my honest review✨

Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✨

While I loved this book and the MCs I wanted more of an emotional connection between them. I thought how they met in the secret garden was so beautiful! Paige has always walked a thin line between obedience and rebellion until her mother tries to marry her off. The rift between Paige and her family was the exact opportunity Hayes needed to try and buy her family’s hotels from her.

Paige has had enough when her mom tries to marry her off for the good of the family business and decides to run away. Only to end up at Hayes's place of business. Hayes not only wants to buy her family business but he ultimately ends up caring for her and wants to protect her and give her what she deserves.

While I enjoyed their relationship and the way they got along with each other, I wanted more of an emotional connection between them. Paige opens up to Hayes and that is her undoing at the end. While both decided to get married, Hayes kept his intentions hidden.

Hayes ultimately goes behind Paige’s back and tries to control her life, Under the rouse that he knows what’s best for her. Paige went from one jailer to another, but no more. Once giving Hayes a piece of her mind and telling him off, something one has done, he lets her walk away. The fact that he does understand how what he did was a stab in the back but he never tried to apologize pissed me off.

I’m hoping Hayes wakes up and grovels. Paige may be dependent on her parents to some degree but she is independent and she will not let herself be used as a bargaining chip. I loved how Hayes's dog automatically became her own personal bodyguard and every moment had me laughing!! I’m excited to see what’s next in store for the MCs.

The Bourbon Bride by Adrian R. Hale is the First book in the Southern Gods Series. This starts the story of Paige Fairchild and Hayes Olsen. Paige is a young women who happens to meet Hayes at his club The Abyss. Both are taken with the other but she is a young debutante and he is a broody older man. When Paige finds out she is being married off to Garrison Davis she runs to her safe place. This book does end setting us up for the next book...cliffhanger. I can't wait for this next book!

I really wanted to like this book and tried to find good things in it to convince myself that it was better than it really is.

The writing style is not bad - it is descriptive, with a good conveyance of the environment and is light and fast to read, which is always a nice combination. However, the not naturally represented relationship between the characters, their poor construction, all the filling scenes and the too early use of well-known and usually favorite tropes, managed to ruin the book for me.

"The Bourbon Bride" didn't catch my interest even after the first 40 pages, although I wasn't completely bored either. That's where my curiosity about what was going to happen intensified, but that's where my commitment to story ended.

Even if there is an attempt at building the character of Hayes as the typical billionaire shark in business, who is an unscrupulous womanizer, but melts when he meets his better half, it is unsuccessful. His image initially seemed to me well created, although I did not agree with all the facts about him being given to the readers and through a narrative, instead of slowly unfolding and getting to know him. But then both his character and Paige's blurred as they adjusted to the story so that there would be some drama. First he is attracted to her and wants her to be his, explaining how this time it is different, but he will also use her as a leverage to acquire her family's businesses. Then he clearly starts falling in love with her and may I add – hard at that. However, he then decides that he will make her fall in love with him in order to take the businesses in question. Pretty much this is the moment when she, after thinking a lot about how much she likes him and wants to be with him and belong to him, decides that she will make him fall in love with her in order to use him as a walking and giving her orgasms bank account. At some point I started getting confused whether they really loved each other, or they just used one another, and as I watched them - they were confused about that too, as they forgot from time to time and changed their minds constantly. The author couldn’t pull off that trope, which led to my partial dislike of the story.

✨"Paige, can you please keep putting up with this man's madness? I think you're the best damn thing to happen to his attitude that I can personally account for," Payton says, placing a hand on her shoulder.✨

The first interaction between the two main characters seemed to me unnecessarily long and very stiff. To be honest, I didn't see any chemistry between them, but a lot of awkwardly continuing conversation, so they wouldn't fall into an even more awkward silence. Then I admit that my opinion changed and they seemed sweet to me together, but too cringe, and their relationship somewhat felt very forced. There is potential chemistry between them, but the author too quickly to developed their relationship, which spoils everything. Then all the lying and hiding instead of telling the truth was really unnerving, and the man's refusal to understand Paige's logical angry reaction when she eventually found out the truth, made me angry too. He had time to explain everything to her before she found it out from someone else's mouth, he could have told her what had happened during the scandal or fight for her, but his ego was bigger than the mansion he lived in.

Overall, the book had good dynamics, but some of the actions were happening out of nowhere, which led me to think that the plot just had to go somewhere and they were written because of that.

The ending surprised me a lot, because it ended open to the next book, which will obviously be a continuation for the same couple, not for any of Hayes' brothers. This is somewhat good, as their relationship is not rushed again, but on the other hand it worries me that many unnecessary subplots will stretch in the second book. I'm still wondering if I'm going to read it or not, given my disappointment with this one.

The belle of the ball is not in control of any part of her life but she might have a plan for that.

Contemporary romance
🌶️🌶️🌶️ spicy
Instant attraction
💥 violence, threat of violence
Grumpy/sunshine
Morally grey MMC
First in series
Cliffhanger
Mention of attempted SA and reference to SA without detail
Billionaire romance

Paige has had every part of her life decided for her and she is tired of it. She is an heiress without any control of her life but things are about to change. When her parents attempt to force her hand, she has had enough. Off she runs into the arms of a virtual stranger. This it begins.

I enjoyed the steamy bits and the touch of command our MMC had. I did find the FMC response somewhat unbelievable. She went from pure innocent to insatiable so quick my head spun. I also liked that the MMC, Hayes, is very protective our Paige and will go pretty far to protect her. I was not a fan of the end and the way he put off telling her what she needed to know and then BAM 💥 cliffhanger. I like Hayes brothers but detest Paige’s mother.

Overall a good book and I will be reading the next in series.

Adrian R. Hale's "The Bourbon Bride" presents a modern retelling of the timeless myth of Hades and Persephone, set against the backdrop of contemporary Atlanta and Savannah. This steamy romance intertwines Southern charm with classical allure, delivering a compelling narrative that explores themes of desire, ambition, and self-discovery.

In this reimagined tale, hotel heiress Paige Fairchild embodies the innocence and grace of Persephone, trapped in a world of tradition and societal expectations. Her encounter with billionaire businessman Hayes Olsen, a modern Hades with a complex and enigmatic demeanor, sets the stage for a captivating love story.

Hale's adept storytelling weaves together popular tropes—including age gaps and virgin heroines—with a nuanced touch, transforming Paige into a character of depth and resilience. Hayes, despite his commanding presence, evolves into a multifaceted figure whose vulnerabilities and ambitions mirror those of the mythological Hades.

The chemistry between Paige and Hayes crackles with tension and tenderness, drawing readers into their unconventional relationship. Hale's fluid writing style immerses us in a world where passion and ambition collide, enhanced by a rich ensemble of supporting characters, including the captivating Alex and the loyal canine companion, Cerberus.

While the pacing of the novel is brisk and engaging, some loose ends and abrupt plot resolutions may leave readers craving more closure. However, this serves as a clever setup for the anticipated sequel, promising further exploration of characters and unresolved threads.

In summary, "The Bourbon Bride" is a captivating romance novel that blends classic mythology with contemporary romance, offering a fresh take on the enduring tale of Hades and Persephone. Hale's debut is a promising start to what appears to be an exciting series, leaving readers eager to delve deeper into the intertwined lives of Paige, Hayes, and the captivating world they inhabit.

For fans of steamy romances with a Southern twist and mythological allure, "The Bourbon Bride" offers a satisfying read that promises more to come in the sequel. Adrian R. Hale's narrative prowess shines in this tale of passion, ambition, and the pursuit of love against all odds.

I really enjoyed this book! I actually loved it so much that I read book one AND book two in the same day ♥️

The Bourbon Bride offers a loose nod to Hades and Persephone and is set in Georgia, so that was really interesting to read. I’m from Georgia and I loved all of the nostalgic vibes that The Bourbon Bride offered.

The FMC, Paige Fairchild, is a hotel heiress. She’s lived under her mother’s totalitarian rule for her entire life due to the looming threat of losing her legacy if she does not comply. Paige has learned to be subservient and obedient when it comes to her mother’s wishes. However, that all changes when she meets Hayes. One of my favorite things about this book is the character development that Paige goes through as her relationship with Hayes progresses.

And Hayes?! Whewwww. He’s a billionaire, a ruthless businessman, and a morally gray MMC with a soft streak when it comes to Paige. He’s learning to be less impulsive and more empathetic thanks to Paige, and I loved to see his character development, too. Despite the 10+ year age gap, they complement each other really well.

Here’s one of my favorite Hayes quotes from The Bourbon Bride:

“Don’t just make a spot next time, take the whole closet. Stop trying to make yourself small to fit into my life when you’re the biggest part of it.” 🥹

The cliffhanger at the end had me in tears, so I immediately grabbed book two from Kindle Unlimited and finished it all in one go as well.

I loved this so much! I want thank Adrian and Sunny Babe Pr for letting me ARC read this book. This follows the story of Paige and Hayes. Paige is southern debutante who is supposed to take over as the family business of their hotel once she was done with school. Hayes is a billionaire. He owes the club where Paige host her debutante ball. They meet each other and are instantly attracted to each other right off the bat. He’s older than her and he knows he should stay away from her but when Paige’s family try to force her into a horrible marriage to help the family businesses she flees and find herself right back to Hayes. I really enjoyed this book! I loved Hayes and Paige. I liked that Paige was educated and not just a your typical southern belle living off her parent’s money. I liked how Hayes opened up to her right off the bat. That he took his time and didn’t just sleep with her. I like how he takes her in and takes cares of her. I know there were anterior motives, but you can tell they genuinely care for each other and fall fast. I loved the dog too. He was such a fun and well trained pup. It was crazy how it all happened in like three weeks though. The ending had me so upset. Such a big cliffhanger 🤣 I give it 4.75/5 ⭐️ rounding up on Goodreads and a 4/5 🌶️

Tropes:

Forced Proximity
Marriage of convience
Slow Burn (it says, but it's more of an instalove if I'm being honest)
Age gap
Touch her & die

Review:

Paige is basically southern royalty. She has her whole life planned out for her. But she doesn't want to live this way. She's sweet & innocent (which is mentioned a lot). In comes Hayes to save her. He's older & a self proclaimed workaholic. In order to undo all her mother's wrongs, Paige marries Hayes in this fast paced novel. The book isn't long (which I needed considering I'm reading an sjm book right now). This book is SPICY & was a good read while I'm taking a break from my other current read. I actually read this in one sitting & was only emailed the copy yesterday. Overall, there is a good plot & it's easy to follow along. Ending felt a little abrupt & awkward, but it's excusable since there's a book 2. So, I can easily find out what happens next.

𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: 3.7/5 ⭐
𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐞: 3/5 🌶️

Paige and Hayes had such good chemistry from the start and I actually loved how innocent she was compared to him. Paige definitely has some hidden teeth and tbh I would have preferred if they weren't so hidden. Our guy Hayes is absolutely whipped from the start, but I was disappointed in him in the final chapters (no spoilers but SHAME ON YOU HAYES 😭)

The plot was GOOD 👌🏼. Like I really enjoyed all the "tea" and the hidden plans both Paige and Hayes had. I love how much of a green flag this author is tbh. And although Hayes had some questionable motives there was no doubt he would do anything for Paige. And Paige's trauma is presented so well imo (be careful of the trigger warnings people, mentions of SA in this book) because it plays a big part in her growth as a person and her development as a character.

Honestly, the main reason I docked so many "points" off this one was because I was super hooked at the beginning, but after the 60% mark it turned into a whole different book. The smut was good for SURE, but there were L-words thrown around after only a week of Paige and Hayes knowing each other. Some people like the instant love trope but it is NOT for me.

All in all, it was a good book, with drama, spice and most importantly HAYES. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a broody man turning soft for a woman. Be mindful of the tropes and triggers though people!

First of all, I want to thank Grey's Promotions for the opportunity of this ARC, I have never read Adrian H before, and I must admit that this book is quite charming, it has all the tropes I love.

~ virgin FMC
~ Age gap
~ Forced proximity
~ Marriage of convenience
~ billionaire romance
~ Grumpy sunshine

Hayes is morally gray damn so wonderful, possessive the best temptation, and a literary husband where not always the hero has to be so sweet to everyone but sweet to you. That's Mr. Olsen. Paige is so innocent, and sweet, a flower in our story. The instant connection of the characters left me in awe, I laughed so much at Hayes' expressions and jealousy, he is such a character.
I urgently need the second book because I can't wait to find out what will happen, I can't be left in suspense for too long. Don't wait too long dear Hayes, I'm coming for you :)

I absolutely loved this Hades/Persephone update with a southern debutante/billionaire twist. The way Adrian describes scenes (especially the spicy ones) is so immersive and captivating with her way of utilizing all 5 senses. Hello, who knew satin gloves could be so hot?!

I really loved Paige’s relationship with her best friend, Alex. I’m really hoping he comes into some scenes in the next book! He’s portrayed in such an authentic and beautiful way! 🏳️‍🌈

Paige’s struggle with her parents could’ve been really annoying but Adrian did a great job giving her a backbone even if it was difficult for her. Also, I loved that even though Hayes made some selfish choices, you still end up rooting for him.

And, of course, Cerberus, their adorable demon spawn of a dog, is fantastic and such a great addition to the story! ❤️

listen, am I giving this book too high of a rating? Yes, yes I am but I don’t care because I was highly entertained the entire time. Hayes is kind of an idiot. He fell in love so fast with Paige, which is very understandable, but he never actually considered her thoughts on what he was doing. The fact that he just expected her to be OK with him buying out her family‘s business is crazy. The whole book took place over the span of like a week, but it felt like a lot longer. I really had a fun time with this and I do think they love each other but I’m very excited for the next book. also because of what happened at the end Paige is definitely definitely pregnant and that’ll be fun.

I received an arc from grey's promotion.

*Thank you to Sunnybabe PR for providing me with the ebook*

Adrian Hale is an incredible author! I really enjoyed her writing style and how descriptive she was all throughout the book. It made it even easier to envision the story as it unfolded.

I loved Paige and watching her grow to be an independent young woman that decided to put her foot down and stop letting others rule her life. Her mother was absolutely insufferable and I wish she had really given her mother a piece of her mind.

Hayes fell hard for Paige and despite their age gap he decided to still pursue her. He is a perfect example of an overprotective, touch her you die male love interest.

The ending cliffhanger broke my heart and I am eager to read the second book!

I am obsessed with a good Hades and Persephone retelling so when I found out this story took inspiration from Hades and Persephone I was intrigued and this book did not disappoint. I loved the references to greek mythology in this book and there were some fun pop culture references that I enjoyed too.

Something to note this is book 1 in a series so you will not see the couples full story in this book if that’s something that bothers you this may not be for you, but if you love a romance series and a bit more drama and suspense then you’ll love this!!

If you like a Hades and Persephone retelling, billionaire romance, morally grey male main character, age gap, and forced proximity then you will like The Bourbon Bride!

4.5 stars rounded up

This is one of those fun billionaire only has eyes for the FMC once he meets her kind of reads and I enjoyed it. The FMC is finally escaping a toxic mother and a lot of the times I read those kind of plot lines and I’m desperate for the FMC to stick up for herself but this one does right away and definitely has a backbone. She’s also smarter than she may appear (actually part of her methods) so I liked that it wasn’t just a knight in shining armor saving her, although all his luxury didn’t hurt either. She’s not annoying at all to be the reader from her POV. The spice was plentiful and I plan on reading the second book.

Thank you to sunny babe PR and the author for a copy of this ebook!

I really enjoyed this book! It took me a minute to get into it, but once I was immersed into Hayes and Paige’s world I was loving every minute of it. This entire book happens through the course of like 2 weeks so while it’s a slow burn for them to get spicy, the book itself is moving at a pretty good pace! I really enjoyed the relationship that blossomed between Hayes and Paige - how protective he is of her and how he wants her to be the confident woman she’s supposed to be. Her mother is atrocious and I wanted to verbally attack her myself by the end of this book! The cliffhanger hurt my feelings, I really didn’t want to put this book down and then bam it’s over - but it really is a good cliffhanger to end the first book of a duet on! This is my first book by Adrian and I really enjoyed her writing style - the southern drawl and poise of high society really plays well in her writing and I’m so grateful to Sunny Babe PR for giving me this book to review! Looking forward to reading Hayes and Paige’s conclusion in the next one!

Thank you to @sunnybabepr and @adrianrhale for sending me this book for the opportunity to review it!

Okay, wow. When I first read the blurb for this book I wasn’t sure whether it would be my kind of thing. There’s two POVs: Hayes Olsen - Billionaire, Demanding Businessman and Killer of Dreams and Paige Fairchild - Hotel Heiress, Southern Belle and Virgin. I will admit I was pretty confused for about the first 100 pages of this book because there was a lot of talk of business proposals and business plans, etc. and that all went straight over my head. I can get a little too bogged down in details when reading or watching TV shows/Movies so I had to pull myself out of that. I also kept reading the book in a Georgia accent and because I was trying to perfect the accent in my mind I wasn’t focusing on the words properly and had to reread sentences (but that’s entirely on me!).

This book is definitely a slow burn, which normally I wouldn’t enjoy, but the plot was so captivating that waiting for Hayes and Paige’s relationship come to fruition was so rewarding! I was totally not expecting the ending of this book and I cannot wait to get my hands on book number 2, The Bourbon Bargain. This book also has tropes such as age gap, touch her and die vibes, marriage of convenience, virgin FMC and forced proximity. There’s also a dog!!

Hayes is a business man who gets what he wants, whenever he wants it. He runs a company with his brothers and has a few of his own. Paige is a debutante whose mother is determined to make Paige do what she wants by threatening to cut her off constantly. Paige has had enough when her parents try to make her marry the boy who attempted to assault her in high school. Paige somehow ends up with Hayes and he whisks her away. Cue some dramatic southern mama drama, a guard dog who adores Paige, some lies and betrayal and you’ve got the Bourbon Bride book. This book does stop abruptly and I’ve already downloaded the second one!

This book pleasantly surprised me! It was a little slow for me at the beginning, but honestly by the end of chapter 2 I was hooked. Paige and Hayes were such lovable characters with so much chemistry it was addicting. I was unimpressed by Paige's mom, but I think that would be how just about everyone felt. I loved the plot of her being a runaway and him taking her in, it's one of my favorites to read. The book was so fun, so addicting, and so spicy. Definitely one of my top books of the month!! I will be picking up the next book, ESPECIALLY after that ending ???!!!!

Huge thank you to SunnyBabePR and Adrian R Hale for a chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review!
