I'm all for reading a book with a "culturally diverse" protagonist, however, what I don't appreciate when I read a book, is having this modern-day talking point or any other favoured Politically Correct propaganda being passively aggressively thrown into the novel, in order to sway my opinion or point of view. She's of Indian descent? Gorgeous. Do I need to hear about how hard that is in life for her? no! We all have our cross to bear for some issue or another.
Was it a strongly written novel? No, I don't think so. Heera was wishy-washy and insecure, to the point of being annoying. Charlie was written to be too good to be true, unnaturally altruistic. Great that they sorted their issues from their history but rushed over so not to be "dealt with" effectively.
Something's missing from this book that some extra time would have been beneficial to helping with.
