The first day they met was on the train. While Akiha Konno was on his way to his first day of school in Tokyo, some creep just had to touch his butt...Thankfully, the nice college guy saved him, but, uhhh...Akiha really didn’t mean to just glomp him like that! Worse, he called the fox ears that appear when he’s all worked up “cute”! Welp, it’s not like he’ll ever see him again...
Fox-Colored Jealousy is a romance between college students, but one of them is possessed by a fox spirit. Thank you Yen Press for sending me a copy!
This was adorable and super fluffy. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants something with low stakes and angst because these two are so cute and the vibes are very cozy. I do think the ending or more like the get together part was pretty rushed and I wish there was one more chapter, yeah? But overall I do see myself rereading this from time to time just to have a serotonin boost <3
Still, even though I do believe it's cute and low on angst, I don't want you all to go into it blind without one main content warning which would be: sexual assault.
Akiha is possessed by the fox spirit, which is normal in their lineage. His mother was possessed too in her generation. Now, Akiha moves to his family's distant relatives who lives in a shrine in order to learn how to treat his conditions better. While Yukuri is an heir to that shrine and is loved by animals. Naturally, Akiha's fox spirit will be attracted to Yukuri even though it's against his will. But eventually, Akiha will fall for him too. And that kind of bonding is what I greatly adored in this series. It just oozes with moe and butterflies, I can't help but fall in love!
I love the fox spirit so much, I don't know why everyone hated that little ball of fluff! I can't stop smiling when it's head over heels, smitten for Yukuri. Augh, adorable little animal! But Akiha is cute too! Ah, I really love the art so much!!! I'm going to read the spin-off next!! I was actually afraid of the wolf spirit at first, but I love Hayato's cheerfulness because it reminds me of Momo Mikoshiba and I'm simping for Momo so bad! I'm really interested now, so, here I go!!!
This was so stupidly cute!! No real stakes, no heavy drama just cozy vibes and two soft idiots falling for each other in the gentlest way possible. Definitely one of those reads you reach for when your brain is tired and you just wanna feel warm and squishy inside. The serotonin was serotonin-ing!!
That said… the actual “we’re together now” part did feel kinda rushed. I was fully expecting one more chapter to really seal the deal, so it ending when it did left me blinking like, “Wait, that’s it??” Not a dealbreaker, just mildly disappointing. Still… I can totally see myself rereading this whenever I need something wholesome to patch up my soul.
This is adorable. Akiha is possessed by a fox spirit and it's been causing him some issues, but he can't seem to get rid of it. We follow Akiha as he finds a way (with the help of his sweet and generous love interest Yukuri) to live in harmony with the spirit. It doesn't hurt that the even more than said spirit wants to be mischievous, he just wants some cuddles. He's honestly adorable as a character too, and I love how much he wants Akiha and Yukuri to be together. This was genuinely so much fun, and I'm already looking forward to a reread.
So, this was really cute??! I don’t know what I was expecting going into this, but it sure delivered on the cute and sweet factors! I loved Akiha and his chaos gremlin of a fox spirit, they were so funny together. Especially when the fox spirit was playing pranks on him. I also loved that Yukuri was basically a golden retriever and just wanted to make sure Akiha was safe and comfortable. The fox spirit deserves an award for putting up with these two while they were figuring their shit out (and also causing as much chaos in the process as possible for them! 😂). Another thing I really liked about this manga was that consent played a huge part a lot of the interactions between Yukuri and Akiha. This manga was just so sweet and fun and had me giggling to myself the whole time I was reading it. It’s getting five stars and now I really need to get my hands on the next volume!
That was NOT wholesome. That bonus chapter is the reason for the plastic wrap. But I loved it 🤭 I think the family aspect is a translation issue cause none of the other reviews mention it, only that Akiha went to a temple to gain better control of his fox spirit. So I’m gonna conveniently forget that detail and rate it 4 stars. It was a bit rushed, especially with the antagonist wolf spirit but the illustrations were beautiful, the romance was cute and the smut was smutty. This is one of those books my husband is going to fear our children finding someday.
Kind of meh. Mostly, why was it necessary for them to be “distant” cousins? Why?
Also, if he remembers what is happening when the fox takes over, why is it also mentioned a few times that he wakes up without know where he is? How is it both?
Thought it was really cute I love this type of story where a character has animal features that can pop out I’ve also enjoyed someone the other works by this author
But then I find out I somehow missed that they’re distance cousins????
