When a handkerchief is left at Hinata's family's veterinary clinic, he and Chris take on the job of returning it to its rightful owner. But when Chris tracks its scent, the pair find themselves in front of a haunted house. And is that a z-z-zombie?! Hinata has no time to be afraid, though, he's got to protect Chris! What mysteries lie inside the haunted house, and just who left behind that handkerchief?
The second volume in the series and this time mysterious burglaries, a haunted mansion, and more!
😍 Once again, as I have also said in the first review, I am so gosh darn happy that we are not getting the POV of the dog! If there is one thing that generally doesn’t work for me it is talking animals. 😍 Mayuka was, bless it, not that annoying as she was in the first book. She still had her moments, but way less. I appreciated her much more and that makes me happy and positive for the next books in the series. 😍 I loved reading some more about the town that Mayuka and Hinata live in and get to see some more parts of it, including the haunted mansion! 😍 Chris was just the cutest and I love how cute he is. He had some moments but when we find out why he is doing all that I could understand it better and I just went aww, that poor puppers. I love how clever Chris is and that he cannot just be used to find people but also objects/hidden things. Like with the scavenger hunt he turned out to be a real asset. 😍 The manga art throughout was once again fabulous. I love the style. 😍 The mystery! Not just about the mansion, but also the people in it. Are they really there for what they say they are? Why is Chris so dedicated to going there? I loved seeing it expand more and more with each page. The mystery really got great and we even got some exciting moments that had me on the edge of my seat. 😍 Plus, I love that the mystery from the previous book also continues in this one and see how everything is connected. 😍 I loved the scavenger hunt in the mansion, it wasn’t that long, but it was sure fun and I wished I could be part of it and also search for all the chickens. 😍 The police officer is just A-Plus, that guy is so great. I loved how he is there for the community, tries his best to solve stuff, when Hinata is crying he comforts him. 😍 I still love that the parents have a vet practice and that we also get to see moments there. It isn’t just a description to tell people about Hinata’s parents job it is actually something for the story. 😍 The ending was fab, though also a bit sad. I could understand Hinata’s feelings, he has such a bond with Chris. I won’t say much more but I am glad that the author showed this part.
😶 I hope that hammie got a bigger cage.
All in all, I had so much fun reading this one and I flew right through it!
The stories are cute and interesting, but I HATED the Mayuka character. I despise these imposing, meddling characters. On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!
