The fight for the junior welterweight belt continues as Yu and Yuto duke it out, with Yuto’s tenacity making it difficult for even Yu to keep him down. But Yuto’s refusal to give up may prove dangerous when paired with Yu’s inability to know when to stop…! Meanwhile, Yu’s explosive rise has piqued the interest of the infamous Santorino brothers, a duo notorious for the extreme measures they take to psych out the competition. When Carmen starts spending more time with Yu, the brothers soon clock her as someone important to him―putting her at risk of falling victim to their underhanded schemes!

5 ✨ i’ve read and reread the boxer at least twice by now and i’ll never be able to convey the emotions this manwha has stirred up in me. if you think the boxer is a boxing manwha, think again. i recommend this manwha to everyone, regardless of religion (it has very religious undertones), gender, sex, age… it’s a story that grows in you and every time you reread it at a different stage of your life, there’s something to learn.

to all my hard workers, lucky/unlucky ppl, family-friend driven ppl, perfectionists, idealists… this one is for you. pls pls plsss do not sleep on JH works (both this and The Horizon). they’re masterpieces.

(also, listen to the background music they suggest - it elevates the story to a whole other level.) you’re welcome.

It’s interesting that Yu’s getting some character development finally… I’m intrigued to see what he’ll do in the next volume about the Santorino’s (if anything), since K seems to be intent on keeping him dark and lonely because he’s stronger like that I guess.

I liked the end to the Yuto fight more than I thought I would. JH managed to make it satisfying despite the result, but I want to see Yuto come back at some point. At the very least, he got some conclusion to if he was ‘strong’, which I thought was sweet.

I will say that the Yuto fight somehow made Yu look like even more of a demon, so I guess the current arc is JH trying to reign it back a bit. Can’t wait to read more!

The "date" part was a bit cheesy and I feel like it's a bit grooming since Carmen met him when he was 17 (and she was definitely in her 20s because she was already a manager)... she mentions how he changed from being a skinny boy to growing... leaves a bad taste in my mouth. but EVERYTHING else was fantastic

Switches up the pace and gives Yu a glance at what life can be like outside of boxing only to then turn it so he reenters the ring more willingly than ever. Reveals for good the true villain of this series…

I think the best part is when the cat randomly Meows out of no where to make his presence known.

I like how I can go from actively rooting against Yu in the last book, to hoping that Yu wipes the floor with this next dude. Excellent story telling as always. Also, Yu on a date...chef's kiss.
