To my surprise, this is a collection of comic shorts that feed into various Star Wars comic book collections. Everything from Doctor Aphra, Lord Vader, Mace Windu, Jango Fett, Jabba, The High Republic, and more.
While these shorts are interesting... there simply is just not enough content within each sub-comic to be able to give each individual story a 2-3 star rating at best.
As I make my way to each of these different series, maybe I will appreciate the 5-10 pages received here... but at the same time I feel like what little bit was provided here with be minimal gain overall at best for the experience of the actual full length series they support.
Not a big fan of this content delivery strategy and hopefully this is a rare/few and far between type situation where we get a "comic" like this.
For what its worth: 1. A Trick of the Mind - 3 Stars 2. Tall Tales - 3 Stars 3. Stolen Hope - 2 Stars 4. Showdown at Ocean's Deep - 2 Stars 5. Tool of the Empire - 2 Stars 6. All of the Republic - 2 Stars 7. Duel of the Reprobates - 2 Stars
Again, each one of these are pretty good and definitely interesting. They are just simply too short.
This year's "Revelations" issue once again sets starting points for new series or story arcs in the following months. Overall there are seven stories ("Star Wars", "Doctor Aphra", "Jango Fett", "Mace Windu", "Darth Vader", "High Republic", an unnamed possible comic featuring Jabba). Comparing the actual content to the cover makes it obvious: there is no Thrawn story! Yes even though his comic will only be an adaption, a little bonus story wouldn't have hurt anyone. Instead all we got are a few uncolored preview panels hooray 🥳 The other stories range from entertaining ("Star Wars", "Jango Fett", "Doctor Aphra") over action centered ("Mace Windu", "High Republic") to below average ("Darth Vader", Jabba). All are just a few pages long so don't expect earth shattering innovations. Just a quick read to have some mindless fun.
There’s some really good previews in here and I’m throughly excited for the 2024 slate of Star Wars comics. A little upset that they didn’t tease any events at all but I’m sure there will be at least one.
Just a collection of entirely fine little short vignettes to whet your appetite for this year's releases. LOL is there really a market for a Jango Fett AND a Mace Windu book? Surely these are minis!
