A town tragedy, a dark secret, and a truly hellish mistake… Growing up in a little town like Delaney, Ohio doesn’t offer a girl like me a lot of options… especially when it comes to men. So, I did what I had to do to carve out a life–I rented the town’s most famous Murder House with my deadbeat boyfriend and hoped for the best.
What a fairy tale, right?
But the town legend is more fact than fiction, and a dark spirit still resides there. A dark spirit who’s marked me for himself and for Hell. Now, I have to claw my way through the circles of Hell to get back to the life I had. Except… what I had doesn’t seem quite as heavenly as what I’ve found in the Underworld...
I’m trying to read and review some Halloween inspired books to celebrate the final few days of the month!
This romance novel focuses on a woman, Marnie, who is pulled into Hell as the soul stealer, Gabe, accidentally grabs her when trying to take the living soul of her horrid ex-boyfriend. Marnie must put her trust in Gabe if she has any chance of exiting Hell and returning home, but will she want to leave once she realises her attraction to Gabe? And how will she react when she finds out her saviour is actually the one who who brought her to Hell in the first place?
Some romance novels can be cheesy and horrendously written, but this book was well written and captivating from beginning to end. I liked the chemistry between Marnie and Gabe as it felt believable and you saw it grow slowly throughout the plot. The levels of Hell concept was really interesting and different too, and the demons (especially the main antagonist) felt very unique.
Overall, a great book that’s a perfect read for the spooky season!
It might say a haunted murder house romance but it is surprisingly more love and less murder. Our two characters find themselves in hell, working their way through the rings on a journey to limbo, chased by an evil demon, and finding love on the way. Super sweet and heartfelt, I absolutely loved this book and will happily recommend it to friends.
I enjoyed this little novel! It had some slightly different concepts of the underworld I found to be interesting. I also liked that it was just enough of a monster romance just in time for spooky season as I always like monster reads during October!
