Nancy's just a normal gal in the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Then she finds out she's a synth (an android). Harrison is the handsome, cowboy bounty hunter hired by the powerful SynthTech Syndicate to bring her back. But they both have other ideas about how they want to spend their time…
Welcome to the world of the Atomic Wasteland! - where steamy contemporary romance meets sci-fi western adventure. If you love spicy romance novels AND are a fan of science fiction like Westworld, Blade Runner, Fallout, and Mad Max, check out Atomic Wasteland!
This is the first book in the Atomic Wasteland! series.
Wow! A dystopian western sci-fi romance! I have long loved dystopian and sci-fi genres, and grew up watching old westerns with my dad. I was so excited with the concept of this book, "Atomic Wasteland! A Dystopian Western Sci-fi Romance" by Tabitha Lovelace. I knew it would be refreshingly different, and I was not disappointed!
These are the elements I enjoyed most about the book:
First, the characters. Nancy, an employee of Synth Tech Syndicate, discovers that she is not human, but a very high tech synthetic being, a Synth. When she escapes from the Syndicate into the Wastelands, she encounters Harrison, a cowboy with secrets. Both characters are complex with their own secrets, trust issues and an instaneous attraction to the other. Secondary characters, as the reader will find, make you want to know more of their story and how they came to be in the Wastelands. And, there is a cute little kitty, Nomad, who is just adorable!
Second, the world building was well done. I really enjoyed the descriptive elements of the Wastelands, which are just outside of Neo Vegas. It describes the Mojave desert with a few twists that kept me flipping the pages. I would have loved more a detailed picture of the Syndicate and its operation. Hopefully, with book 2, we will get more insight there. Also, a bit of explanation as to the monetary value of chips would be helpful.
And last, this book is super spicy! There are plenty of sizzling sexy times. Harrison is a charming, good looking, dirty talking cowboy. He has nothing on the dirty talk compared to Nancy, though.
This book was exciting and fun to read! I look forward to more!
first of all, how absolutely gorgeous is this cover art?!
i loooved this book. i never knew i had a thing for futuristic post-apocalyptic cowboys but here we are. nancy and harrison are a bisexual DREAM idk who i’m listing after more. harrison is all cocky cowboy confidence and nancy is badass take no shit synth. i’m obSESSED with them. adventure? check. sci fi robots and technology? check. sexy ass main characters? double check. bloody confrontations? check. spicy sexy times? quadruple check. the spice in this is next level (did i mention nancy has a “pleasure mode” ;) chefs fricking kiss. tabitha lovelace, you are incredible.
I loved this book! Tabitha Lovelace took the genres she wanted to combine and did it perfectly. I love the way everything is described to make it feel that way. It is set in the future and the technology in the book makes it feel very futuristic, but also the desert and its inhabitants (human and otherwise) make this feel like a western and these two genres that are usually pretty opposite fit together nicely. The characters are very interesting as well. Nancy is such a cool character and I love her in her exploration of who and what she is after she finds out she is a synth. Harrison is a cowboy with a troubled past that fits really well with Nancy. The difference between his POV and hers is so different, even in the way he thinks and describes what is happening. I think my favorite scene was the psychedelic scene, it has such excellent vibes and I love the imagery. I absolutely loved this book and I am excited for the next one!
I loved the details of the Old West as much as the futuristic and dystopian world Lovelace creates for us in this story. The details of the world especially the Synth, the Syndicate, the town, and the enemies are a mix between Madmax and Fall Out. Tabitha always makes you feel like you are in the era in which the book is set. Also, the story has a lot of spicy especially since our Nancy has a Pleasure Mode which our cowboy makes constant use of that perk. I already want to read the next book in the saga to find out what the story of our bartender Lu has in store for us.
I really loved the story & character building of this dystopian world. The spice was spicing, but some of my least favorite words were used hahaha I'd never let that bring down a review or star rating though! I'm really excited to see what adventures await Nancy & Harrison in the next book. These two are oodles of fun, and the wasteland brings so many possibilities!
This book was so fun! The cover art got my attention. Loved the mixture of western and dystopian sci-fi. The story starts with Nancy who discovers that she’s not human but a synth and makes her escape from SynthTech to make a life for herself. Harrison is the handsome cowboy bounty hunter hired by an ominous organization known as the Syndicate to find Nancy and bring her back. Lots of adventure and spice!
In an alternate reality, a nuclear cataclism changed humanity ,turning Earth into a dystopian wasteland where survivance is hard. This is the story of Nancy and Harrison in a dificult path full of treachary and limit situations ,but also love and lust, and specially hope!.

3.5 ⭐️ I started this book hoping it would be like Fall Out: New Vegas since it has the same vibes of western wasteland with synths, cowboys and raiders. It was a decent read and enjoyed the plot but was way too long. Maybe it would be better if I had Mojave radio playing along with it.
Very interesting story this was! Based in a post apocalyptic world with a dystopian society, love blooms between a robotic humanoid and a cowboy-of-sorts with past trauma. Fast paced storyline, awesome world building and a lot of steamy scenes. Worth reading if thats your jam!.
