It seems like I've been reading this off and on for a quite a while. This book comes with a companion CD.
Music and the Spoken Word is a wonderful program of sacred and inspirational music along with uplifting messages (not necessarily religious). Quite appropriate for any denomination. It has been going on since July 15, 1929!
This book includes many of the messages over the years, making it not just a book of inspirational messages, but a history of sorts. The messages are really sort of timeless. Many of the principles are still valuable.
Each week the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has a live half hour program on network radio and TV (also on satellite). It is the longest sustaining (unsponsored) program on network radio in the USA. Each weeks program is currently narrated by Lloyd D. Newell, who also gives a brief message. He is continuing a practice begun 70 + years ago by Richard L. Evans, and followed by J. Spencer Kinard, who was Newell's predecessor. This book highlights some of the best of these hundred of messages which have been heard and loved by millions of listeners and viewers each week.
