Ruth Glick (born 1942) is a best-selling author of healthy cookbooks and has also written dozens of romantic suspense romance novels under the pen name Rebecca York.

Ruth earned a B.A. in American Thought and Civilization from George Washington University and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Although she always wanted to become a writer, Glick was convinced that her lack of spelling skills meant that her goal was unattainable. As a stay-at-home mother, she took a community college course to help her choose a career. The course made it very clear that writing was her primary interest. Glick began writing articles for newspapers and magazines, but after several years decided to try writing fiction. Her first book, a kids' science fiction book, was finally purchased by Scholastic Inc..

Since then, Glick has become a highly successful author of over 50 romantic suspense and paranormal novels. Many of her novels are published under the Harlequin Intrigue line, and in June 2003, she became one of the first authors published under Berkley's new Sensation imprint. Before 1997, she often collaborated with Eileen Buckholtz and Kathryn Jenson.

Glick also is a highly regarded author of cookbooks focusing on healthy eating. She sometimes hires trained chefs to test the recipes that she creates, and makes sure that every recipe is tested at least three times before it appears in one of her cookbooks.

Glick is the head of the Columbia Writers Workshop. She and her husband, Norman Glick, live in Columbia, Maryland, where Ruth collects rocks, and enjoys cooking, walking, reading, gardening, travel, and Mozart operas. They have two grown children, Elissa and Ethan, and two grandsons (Jesse and Leo).

Three authors deliver three very good connected stories in "Bayou Blood Brothers," the tales of three childhood friends threatened by someone from their past. Readers looking for steamy suspense will find it here, though some may wish the authors had written a trilogy of three separate books so they could have had more of these stories.

Rebecca York begins the set with "Tyler." An undercover federal agent is surprised when his latest case brings him into the life of the sister of his boyhood friend. Tyler feels he let her brother down. When killers chase them into the bayou, can he do right by her? York doesn't have much room to tell her story, since she has to provide the prologue that sets up the trilogy and the events that lead into the next two tales. Eighty pages isn't much to tell a whole story. As a result, there isn't much to "Tyler," a straightforward couple-on-the-run tale with few surprises but good suspense and a high level of sensuality. There aren't many twists and some may have trouble believing these two could fall in love in such a short period of time. Good atmosphere and page-turning suspense do compensate. Fans of constant action and steamy love scenes will find them here. Four Stars.

Surprisingly, the best story in the set doesn't come from an Intrigue author but from Metsy Hingle. In "Nick," a man returns to his hometown for his brother's wedding to the only woman he's ever loved. When his brother is murdered, Nick becomes the prime suspect. Can he find the truth and reclaim the only woman for him? Hingle's story is the best because she manages to combine all the elements of a full-length Intrigue into her eighty pages. Both characters have interesting and involved histories that make them seem more three-dimensional. Hingle keeps her characters in constant danger, but she also spaces her story over several days. It is fast-paced but doesn't feel rushed. This is the only story where I really felt like the characters had a chance to talk about their relationship. By the end I was convinced they would last as a couple. A good mystery, dangerous situations and enjoyable antagonists make this a joy to read. It's not easy to pull off in eighty pages (some writers can't do it in 250). Hingle does it with ease. Five stars.

Joanna Wayne finishes the set with "Jules." A murder brings Jules close to the truth of the man out to get him and his friends. It also reunites him with his first love. Can Jules protect her when her involvement with him puts her in danger? Wayne's story is a solid follow-up to the second one. It has some good character development and twists along the way. The climax is somewhat weak. The dangerous situation the characters find themselves in is so contrived I couldn't understand how this could be happening to intelligent people. Wayne does offer some chilling scenes and confrontations with a truly evil villain to keep readers turning the pages and the romance is solid. Four Stars.

The Louisiana bayou country is a setting that has mostly been forgotten in Intrigues (out of the last 100 Intrigues, only one full novel and one novella were set in Louisiana, both in New Orleans). It's a shame these stories couldn't have been offered as three separate books to allow readers to spend more time in this setting and the authors more time to build their stories. The idea was strong enough to support a trilogy. For what it is though, readers looking for fast reads will enjoy "Bayou Blood Brothers," so much they'll probably wish there was more of it.

It’s so hard to rate this book. The first two writings were good the third was not. Maybe it was just the male character I dislike so much. The author definitely couldn’t sell me on that love story at all. This is my first time reading a book, where the authors each wrote a part of the book, and I think the first two made it so cohesive you couldn’t tell the switch over.

This 3 for 1 novels is broken up in 3 stories about 3 boys that swore an oath in blood to always be there for each other. They have to testify against another boy that killed a boy in a boating accident, he swaers to get back at them one day. The first story involves an undercover FBI agent that is asked to do a job and runs into an old friend. She reconizes him and almost blows his cover. The next story involves a businessman attending the wedding of an ex and when he arrives he gets into an arguement with the groom. The groom gets in the car to leave when it blows up. From there its one thing after another until things just go from bad to deadly for the both of them. Finally there's the ex cop that comes back home and finds a body in the bayou in his sweetheart backyard. His family has been murdered and he is here to find out who did it. In between it all his tries not to fall for hos sweetheart again, and also protect her from a killer.

In all I liked the flow and consistantcy of the stories. I liked the various authors and I liked the plot (a bit confusing, but still enjoyable).

Three stories about 3 men who became blood brothers when they met in a juvenile boot camp. There were 4 but one was murdered by another kid. They witnessed the murder and sent the murderer to jail. Tyler, Nick & Jules shared their blood and promised to be there for each other. They are now 30, lost contact and finding themselves and their loved ones in danger. Each story deals with one man’s problems and leaves certain questions unanswered for the next story. Each story also links them up with women they knew in their past, Gabby, Caroline, and Adrienne. Decent collection.

This is a 3 in 1. Each story is about one of three men who, as teenagers, swore a blood oath to be brothers forever.

I thought that the book was just okay. None of the three stories stood out as being great, but I did like the way each story followed along the same plot line.
