Elevate and Dominate: 21 Ways to Win On and Off the Field

Rate this book
Coach Prime—famed Pro Football Hall of Famer, two-time Super Bowl–winning NFL player, head football coach for the University of Colorado, inspirational leader, and one of the greatest motivators of all time—delivers the ultimate playbook of inspiring personal stories, winning strategies, and the motivation to help us elevate and dominate all aspects of our life.

Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders is that rare legendary athlete who can move from the field to the sideline, coaching his players to bring everything they’ve got and leave it all out there on the field. The reason is Deion Sanders expects the best and will settle for nothing less. Whether it’s dealing with pressure (two Super Bowl championship games and a World Series played between NFL games), using the competition to your advantage (he spent a year in San Francisco playing for the 49ers, where he was matched up daily with Jerry Rice, the best receiver of all time), or navigating depression (years ago he was so lost that he attempted to take his own life), Sanders has conquered these challenges and many more.

The incredible highs and lows of the journey taken by the greatest of all time NFL superstar—and his transparent willingness to share those details with his players—has turned Coach Prime’s Boulder, Colorado, football team into Destination One for some of the best players in America.

Now, in Elevate and Dominate, Sanders is ready to become YOUR coach. His motivational stories and personal strategies are relatable and hugely effective beyond sports. His inspirational messages can be applied to all aspects of your life, including how to be the best at work, in relationships, as a parent, and as a member of your community. With the same bling, bluster, humility, and commitment he brings to his college team, he will share the lessons learned and the direction, motivation, and action required to dominate and win at life.

I actually was pulling for Coach Sanders when he took the Colorado football job. Not sure why but just felt compelled that he was good for college football and would be able to show it to the country on the big stage. What I did not realize is his previous bout with severe depression bad enough for him to try to take his life one day and the subsequent turn around connected with his spiritual awakening and all those around him to mentor him back to health. The book itself is very simplistic, not much meat on it yet very practical and so Deion in some regards. It was worth the read and I found the book by searching for John Macarthur, Jr. who wrote the forward to the book. I am glad I did find it and will be rooting for the Buffalos in the coming years and hopefully rooting that the media will give him a break and a pass every once in a while. Afterall, he is entertaining and if he is making a positive difference in a young kid's life, much the more the positive.

Peak Prime

I don’t typically read self-help books. I decided to get this one simply because I’m a fan of Deion Sanders. I enjoyed his narration. He infused his personality into his delivery. He gave some useful advice, but I loved how he gave personal examples. I always enjoy hearing about his mother and his children. The stories he shared about them were my favorite parts of the book. He also provided a few interesting and sometimes humorous stories about his days of playing sports. His professional resumé is so impressive. It was fun to hear him highlight his accomplishments.

Not As Expected; Still Valuable And Worthwhile

While I got this book believing it was about Coach Prime (and it is), I didn't realize it was a motivational and self-help book on how to achieve success. Three quotes I loved more than anything, "Don’t Allow My Confidence to Offend Your Insecurity. Believe in yourself…; I Practiced Like I Played So When I Played It Was Like Practice.; You Look Good, You Feel Good… You Feel Good, You Play Good… You Play Good, THEY PAY GOOD!" That sums it up. Also, to learn Coach Prime has never had a drink, smoked, or done drugs is a testament to how the media can twist things up and get you believing fiction over facts. Finally, there are many strong take aways, lessons if you will, in this book. Give it a read, I think you'll be happy you did.

Thank you Deion!

I bought this book thinking I was going to be reading about the flashy guy I grew up watching running back interceptions and blasting home runs! This book is so much more!!!

I've been a quadriplegic for the last five years and I lived at the top of the corporate world prior to my current situation, this book will be the gift I give many of my friends this year. I highly recommend it. God always has your back! You can take that to the bank.

As a fan of Prime, this book was a huge let down. If you have remotely paid attention to his journey the last 4 years, you know everything this book presents. Skip the book and just watch his socials.
