Trust the IDA
Flint, daredevil dragon-shifting alien, uses his status as Lord and his wealth to roam the galaxy in search of adventure. He thinks the IDA is some king of adventure club, and signs on. Mission: rescue a damsel in distress. Challenge accepted. Enter Liza - browbeaten, abused, desperate human drudge. She thinks the IDA is some kind of online support group and pours out her troubled heart: her abusive drunken Dad, her hopeless attempts to escape his control, her fears for the younger sister who did get free - by marrying the first guy who came along (Liza knows this will turn out badly, since men are all like Dad...) So Flint's one-alien rescue mission is really a kidnapping, right? Liza goes down fighting, Flint can't help but adore her even as he dodges blows and her attempts to get loose. It's kinda funny, and kinda sad; and the best part of this romance is watching Liza get her head on straight. HEA is a last-minute, nick-of-time thing and getting there is the adventure of a lifetime for one dragon lord alien, and one lucky human. The story has kind of a "bare bones" feel, and more in-depth interaction would have made it better, but I liked it well enough.
