This is what people mean when they say love wins. Zyair couldn't help but fall in love with Pastel & Elisha disnt stand a chance. Pastel deserved her fresh start. Elisha deserved a rich man, and Zyair deserved to be loved.
Am I the only one who thought Elisha was going to be the mysterious woman the Dad was kissing?
I am ecstatic that Pastel got to tell her story. It was a bumpy ride but she made it to the finish line. But listen here Ms. Monae you wrote thee "h" out of this love triangle. And I will say I'm not the biggest fan of that trope but this storyline was perfect. Pastel had a huge heart made of gold because she took care of her parents with minimum funds. She carried so much weight on her shoulders. Zyair recognized just how caring Pastel was from their communication. He became like a moth to a flame for Pastel. Elisha couldn't hold a candle to their blossoming love. I feel like Zyair's father and grandfather were correct about Elisha, it seems she had a thing for high-earning men. She married a man who was in Zyair tax bracket or maybe even higher. Elisha did get hurt in the process but Pastel and Zyair were meant to be. I am so glad Pastel got to be loved properly by a man that adores her. When she was first introduced in Ocean's book I wanted her to have a happily ever after moment. She was going through so much with ill parents. Zyair changed her and her parents' lives for the better. She and Zyair started working on building their empire. Zyair finally has the true love of life and the CEO position he was gunning for. Zyair and Pastel's love story simply shows that's it not how you met that matters but it's all in the union that forms.
This book is captivating with a superb storyline and plot. She put the ✍🏽 to paper on this one. If you have never read a work of art by Ms. Monae here is your chance. First, read "This Love is a Sure Thing" so you get introduced to Pastel and Zyair.
This book dragged for me at the end. The last two chapters seemed so long.
But the drama was good honestly. I hated that he didn’t b want to make a decision because he wanted them both. Even when he fell in love with someone else, he still lead Elisha on. Pastel and Zyajr was cute though. Their story was interesting and lowkey relatable.
this book was messy. Zyair was a fool. can't believe he was that stupid to think he could have both women and they would be ok. he got off easy. both of the chicks should've beat his ass. the book was entertaining. I want rooting for either couple. zyair was messy messy.
Usually a fan but this was not good … like what was this?? There was nothing good in this book to warrant the first girlfriend getting hurt. More & more kindle authors are disappointing me with their lack of originality & immoral writing points!
This was a cute story and I would recommend this book. I enjoyed Zyair and Pastel’s transformation to an unconditional and bonded love. They seemed to complete one another. While I didn’t like the way Zyair handled things between him and Pastel and him and Elisha, I understood his hesitance to end things with Elisha because she represented a love he never truly felt from his parents and the more they disapproved, the more he dug in his heels in staying with her. The only connection I seemed to find between he and Elisha was sexual and I couldn’t see a marriage between them lasting for long with only that connection had he chosen to stay with her. Now his connection with Pastel went beyond the sexual and could be seen as more genuine with their chemistry because they seemed to build a friendship as well. You could tell Zyair knew his love and connection with Pastel was different from what he shared with Elisha and I’m glad they were able to get their happily ever after.
This was my first book by this author. I didn't care for the book, but I will give her another chance. I wouldn't say I liked Zyair; he was a lair, disrespectful, and a cheater. Pastel was stupid! So, for Zyair to become CEO of his family company, he must be married. He is engaged to his girlfriend of seven years. However, his family doesn't like her. So, he asks Pastel to be his fake wife. She agrees because her parents are sick and she has several bills. So, at first, everyone was on board with the phony wife thing, EVEN HIS fiancé ELISHA! So, of course, real feelings develop, and Zyair is stringing both women along! The part that gets me is Pastel is honest with her mom and best friend about how this is all fake but has feelings for him even though he has a whole fiancé! Nobody tells her she needs to stop sleeping with a man who has a girl because you are the side chick! They are encouraging her to pursue him! I think he was a coward for not standing up for his relationship with Elisha. And when she called him out on it, her had the nerve to tell her not to disrespect him. Meanwhile, he sleeps with Pastel and lies about it. I liked Elisha, and I think she did what any woman put in seven years in a relationship.
Talk about your threesomes. Zyair was involved with Elisha for 7 years. His family never approved of her but he loved her until he met Pastel, who cleaned his family’s company offices. He was immediately attracted to her and she in. They over time became friends and then he asked her to marry him in order to become the CEO of his family business. This man was emotionally and sexually involved plus engaged to two women. They both knew about each other as he was very open and upfront about the reasons behind the ‘fake’ marriage that eventually became a real marriage when Zyair realized he was truly in love with Pastel.
Unfortunately Elisha ended up getting hurt . I didn’t like Zyair stringing both Elisha and Pastel, at times , along when his feelings started developing for Pastel, and he thought he was still in love with Elisha. He eventually chose Pastel. He did however apologize to Elisha for all he had done to her and she appeared to find a new love. His saving grace was that he truly did love Pastel and she, him.
Zyair is trying to become CEO of his family's company. He is has a girlfriend Elisha that his family doesn't like and he is secretly engaged to. Pastel is struggling to help her parents and pay their bills. Their is an instant attraction between Zyair and Pastel. They need each other, he needs a good wife and she needs money. This story was so good. Pastel had a peace about her that Zyair needed. He felt like he owned Elisha because she was their for him, but I think she was using him for his money. Why would she agree to his crazy plan if she wasn't in it for the money. In the end Love Wins Zyair and Pastel went through it but their Love won in the end.
I can only stomach a cheating trope when the person being cheated on is a horrible person. I understand that Elisha was supposed to be framed as a horrible person but it definitely fell flat and she was ultimately the person that was hurt the most by Pastel and Zyair’s selfishness. Also I didn’t understand how we are told multiple times that his parents were subpar and he sought their counsel several times…no mention of therapy an actual conversation just oh we cool now…but yeah the book had me and then when I realized Elisha really wasn’t a villain everything else was icky…Oh and please release authors from surprise pregnancy shackles
This was intriguing. I didn’t know if I should root for Pastel and Zyair because I didn’t like the way they initially got together. I felt bad for Elisha but I also couldn’t stand her. She was suspect to me the whole time. Zyair was wrong in this situation but his connection to Pastel became something so pure he couldn’t help but fall for her. I still don’t know how to feel about this one but the story line kept me reading One minor issue there is an epilogue but it’s not labeled as such which caused me to go back thinking I missed something.
Very interesting I will say I can't put my finger on it But something wasn't quite right with Elisha and for his family none of them to like her I need more of back story about her seems sneaky... But I'm glad she was able to find happiness
Now Pastel was very caring I can see why he feel hard for her I just wish he would have ended the relationship with Elisha when his feelings change develop more for Pastel Instead of leading her on But I also learned what's meant to be will be ain't nothing you can do about it..
I didn’t like Zyair 🫣 and Pastel didn’t seem like a woman in her 30s. For as much as she had to do for her parents , I would think she would have had more solid career or just job opportunities. I wish Greyson and Ocean would’ve got this much attention and Zyair and Pastel got the shorter book. Pastel mentioned a few times how honest he was but I just couldn’t see it. He played too many games and Pastel fell for all of them. Then what happened to Elisha, smh, she deserved something better. I like Monae’s work, this one just didn’t do it for me.
Zyaire & Pastel!! I got a love/ hate for this romance. Zyaire is engaged to a woman his family doesn't approve of. When his family states he won't get the ceo position, if he marries Elisha, he devices a plan to marry someone else. Pastel has a loving heart, and she's beautiful, plus she needs money. And Zyaire has plenty of money. Their relationship starts as a business deal, then feelings get involved!! Talk about entanglements.
This was an okay read for me because for Zyair and Pastel to be in their mid thirties they acted like they were in their early twenties. Zyair wanted his cake and to eat it too and even had the nerves to be engaged to both Elisha and Pastel st the same time. Spending quality time together and communicating by phone and text cause Zyair and Pastel to fall in love with each other. Zyair eventually chose Pastel and they elope.

Baby this book is literally what happens when a young rich man has his cake and eats it too, but keeps making some dumb decisions. Zyair was stressing everybody out; me, his mama, his daddy, gpop, his friends & love interests. I was rooting for Pastel though so I stuck beside ‘em. This story was messyyyyy from beginning to end.
This was the first audiobook I’ve listened to with Ja’air Bush, and I am looking forward to hearing more from her.
When this book first started, I was about to stop reading because I didn't like how they were treating Elisha and the author never really gave a reason for their feelings. But once I saw how Pastel and Zaire cared for one another I kept reading. I'm happy that Zaire apologized to the ladies. I'm happy that Elisha was able to find love in the end.
Zy’Aire did not deserve either one of them. He was 100% wrong. He was very immature. I never did gauge his age but I figured if Pastel was 35 then he had to be somewhere close. With that being said, I felt like I was reading a coming of age story instead of it being mature adults. Also, for some reason, Zy’Aire sounded like a woman. It just wasn’t authentic.
This was my first book by this author and I’m highly impressed. This fake relationship trope was really good and I loved how the story developed. I felt so embarrassed for Elisha…like that was unfair to her but in the end love always wins. A few formatting errors but nothing too bad. definitely looking forward to reading another one from her.
Ehhh, good story line and good read. What I didn’t like was the love triangle part. Basically Zyair had his cake and got to eat it. I wish Pastel wouldn’t have fallen for the sex and made him stick to the agreement or choose one of them. He was hitting both of them raw, had to be. He played in both of their faces and that’s the part I don’t like.
Full of drama! Zyair… 🤦🏾♀️ Could have handle so many things so much better. The drama just kept on escalating. He just couldnt calm anything down because of his crazy choices. Pastel, how calm did she think this would be when accept help from Zyair who already had a fiancée. Sheesh. You gotta read/listen to understand this drama the author took us into. I fussed the whole time. Lol
I knew the outcome but the route to get there was amazing. The way the story began through the last word was great. I love how the characters were portrayed. The author did an excellent job putting this together. I really enjoyed this.
This was really good. A twist to the marriage of convenience trope. I really loved Pastel and how she cared for her parents💜 Zyair didn’t stand a chance. He was definitely gonna fall for her sweet thick self!
It was a good read. I liked Pastel and thought she was a good person. I didn't believe she was 35, she came off as more of a 25 year old. So many of the family dynamics didn't make sense but they were resolved by the end. This was a good read 📚 👏🏾❣️
Oh my, I so love the storyline. So glad Zaire followed his heart and got to experience real love..so glad Pastel understood she deserved the best I admired her love and her ability to make it happen for her and her parents. What else, can I say love always wins.
Zyair was in a sticky situation and the matters of the heart is a tricky game. The author did a great job in making sure you could feel the deep love Zyair had for Pastel. He found trust, comfort, love and peace in Pastel that Elisha didn't provide. Great read.
This is a good read with likeable characters, drama, A surprise love, and family. The storyline was interesting and had a few twist. I enjoyed this book and loved these characters.
This book was truly a Great Read. This storyline was well written and the couple romance and passion kept you reading. Monae Nicole great job on your penmanship.
