To many people, trauma is something that happens to soldiers and refugees, far away and out of sight. But in fact, trauma is the single greatest threat to public health and well-being that America has ever seen. As humans, we are exposed to a horde of traumas, from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, to neglect, accidents...the list can go on and on. And while the naked eye can see the immediate effects of that trauma, it is usually the long-term trauma we carry that bogs us down and infects every aspect of our lives, whether we are aware of it or not.

This is an unofficial, third-party workbook for Bessel van der Kolk's The Body Keeps the Score. Please note that it is NOT the original book.
After reading this workbook, I feel more informed about trauma on a biological standpoint as well as how it actually applies to our lives! It also addressed interventions to treat trauma and become a fully integrated person which was very helpful to learn. I did not fill out the questions at the end of the chapters, but they seemed great for someone looking to try the different exercises.
My only qualm with this book is the heavy emphasis on yoga and meditation. I know it is a workbook and it is summarizing the book itself, but the push towards meditation and yoga are inherently spiritual practices. These aren't compatible with my religion so I didn't find that information useful.
Otherwise it was a good overview of The Body Keeps Score and I am hoping to read that book very soon!
