Ex-Special Forces soldier Rhys Garrick was trained to expect the unexpected, but when he rescues a gorgeous woman from dangerous criminals he’s hunting, nothing could’ve prepared him for the incredible night that followed. Nor the way she disappeared the next morning.
It was for the best. Rhys wasn’t about to trade the freedom of the open road and his duty to the Vigilantes for a woman. So, he buries himself in club business until his next assignment takes him by surprise: Merritt Manning. The name on the wanted notice is unfamiliar but the face in the photo has haunted him for months; the woman is none other than the midnight-haired beauty who tempted him that night. And she’s wanted for murder.
So, Rhys does what he does best. He hunts Merritt down, expecting answers. Instead, he’s met with more questions and a desire that won’t be denied. When she slips through his grasp once more, he’s convinced she’s as guilty as she is gorgeous, and he won’t be fooled again.
When Rhys finally gets ahold of her for good, the feelings they share aren’t the only confession Merritt has. Her unexpected truth changes everything—including the verdict Rhys would’ve staked his life on.
Rebecca Sharp always loved a good love story. Let's face it, when you include a romance novel on your 8th grade summer reading list just to see if the teacher would notice (she didn't!), she was bound to give writing one of her own a go. There's really no corner of romance that she doesn't (or wouldn't) enjoy writing, except maybe aliens, much to her husband's dismay, so her large catalog features a little something for everyone. However, her love of shows like NCIS and Criminal Minds makes her favorite stories to write the ones with some kind of suspense and crime solving.
When she's not writing, she's at her office treating patients, and somewhere between those two things, you'll find her wandering the globe with her husband always searching for their next adventure.

Wow, these stories are so good. Like all of Dr. Rebecca’s books, we are off and running from the start.
Rhys is former military and now part of a group call The Vigilantes. Just like the name says, his team goes out and rights the wrongs to get Justice. Unlike the police, they are able to get Justice in a different way, not always on the up and up but always on the side of good and right. While at an event, Rhys is searching for details about a man they are trying to take down, when he sees Merritt. She is beautiful and there is something about her. That connection he feels though may end up breaking him.
Merritt will be impossible to write about without spoilers. She is a Spanish teacher and a tutor to boy. The boy’s father is at an event she is attending and he seems to be quite smitten with her, despite the decades between them. She has no interest especially when she looks across the room, into the most intense, beautiful eyes of a motorcycle man, Rhys. He is intriguing but the last thing Merritt needs right now is a man, or does she?
Like above, these are just so good! Love this series and every series I have read. Love the interconnection and seeing some friends from other books popping in to help. This is an easy, quite quick read, and full of exhilarating pages of danger, lust, trust and lies.
This is a fairly new series, book 2, so there is plenty of time to get caught up. Each is a standalone but I recommend reading in order for character development and details.
I received a ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Verdict started with an instalust situation. The romance was hot. The suspense plot was good. The heroine was a woman on the run with a lot of secrets, and a very protective hero.
Holy steamy, hot, and sexy cow Batman this has got to be Sharp’s HOTTEST book to date. I mean WOW! You have a sexy, broody alpha jerk who can not get enough of the woman he claims to hate. Angst, sexual tension and the need to have her adds so much passion to each chapter I couldn’t get enough!
Rhys met his match with Merritt. She is not a helpless female and will not lose site of what must be done. It doesn’t matter if Rhys will accept her truths she knows she must make it all right and pray no more lives are lost. Twists and glorious turns add layers of mystery to an already intense on going plot line (you don’t have to read book 1 but HIGHLY suggest you do, you know for entertainment purposes). Also if you’re a woman who loves a good piercing, well this one is for you! Even if you’re unsure take a chance on a high action, all steamy adventure!
Merritt WTFFFF, neta no la soporte, osea todo lo hizo mal. Primero miente y aun así quiere eat her cake too y luego roba las pruebas que ocupan para seguir con la venganza de Rob y corrupts the usb and lets the bad man get awayyy. I’m not even sure why I gave it 2 ⭐️, that feels like a lot for the plot line and stupid FMC
Wow. I didn’t not see the twist with Merritt until the end. That was totally wild. Also with all the dots slowly connecting took the crews mission up to a whole new level. I’m totally excited about Dare’s book to see where it all leads
Enjoyable 2nd book in the series – I still have questions
We’ve continued on to the 2nd book in the Vendetta series with Rhys, our hurdy gurdy playing hero. As he meets Merritt, our heroine, their attraction is a bit too fast for me. I do like their banter when they first meet. I guess it was supposed to be their personalities that helped speed this along, but it is not realistic enough for me. Perhaps this book is making up for the slow burn of the previous book.
There’s some danger from Merritt’s past and she is saved by Rhys. But really…if more dangerous people from your past are at the venue you’re at, do you really take the time to get hot & heavy by a dead body caused by the hero, adrenalin or not?
I do like how the danger from Merritt’s past is crafted. Interesting twist on her character that was nice. It was good to see a serious side of Rhys compared to what we got to glimpse in earlier books. The big bads are intertwined well to build the story.
I’m giving this book a 4 out of 5 stars for the story. If I took into account the questions I have for what I listed below, my rating would be 3 stars. Some of the details are still irritatingly distracting and take me out of the story because they make no sense.
I think Dr Sharp needs to hire an artist to make a rendering of the motorcycle garage and surrounding compound that she’s envisioning. I NEED to see a map of the hallways/tunnels and locations of the cabins. I get pulled out of the story when trying to envision this set up.
Underground “hallways” that are almost a football field in length and then add on Robin’s hallway that is another full football length, how does this make sense? This is in California. Earthquakes! Big, BIG earthquakes! (I know because I live in CA and survived the Northridge quake among other smaller ones)
Who would realistically build an underground hallway (aka tunnel) system that is 50-100 yards in length for the main hallway in earthquake prone California? Then branching off that, an additional 100 yards to Robin’s cabin. That is almost 2 football fields in length. There are other branches to the other cabins, which is how the distance from each other at ground level is explained. We may learn the length of the other hallways in future books.
Earthquakes… Research the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake that caused the Bay Bridge to collapse and was felt as far away as San Diego. Shifting tectonic plates and liquefaction is not conductive for building long underground tunnels.

Dr. Rebecca Sharp has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Merritt and Rhys. Merritt has a job with the Cosmos Gang and it is to go with Mercury and see a diamond cutter about a large uncut diamond. Things go downhill when Mercury kills the diamond cutter and his guards. Jupiter, the gang leader, tells them to get the large diamond and any other diamonds they can get. Merritt goes after the large diamond while Mercury goes for the smaller ones. After she gets it, she heads outside. When she gets outside, she sees the police are there and talking to Jupiter. She sees Jupiter kill one of the members of the gang and the police do nothing about it. Jupiter looks at Merritt and she knows that she is next. Merritt runs away from Jupiter and goes into hiding. Five years later, Merritt is invited to an event by Les, her student's father. This is where she meets Rhys but she calls him Motorcycle Man. She leaves the event but runs into Mars. He tries to grab her but Rhys saves her. They end up sleeping together but when Rhys wakes up she is gone. Rhys is part of a group that goes after criminals that get away with things. They are looking for the Cosmos Gang but can't find them. Merritt finds out that she is wanted for the murder of Les since she was the last one to see him. Rhys goes after her and when he finds her, he takes her back to his headquarters. She keeps things from him so that he will stay safe. Rhys and his team dig into Merritt and find some things out about her. She keeps things from Rhys about herself that could clear her name. Merritt finally realizes that she can trust Rhys and tells him everything. Will Merritt and Rhys get together after everything is over? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

There’s just something about Rebecca’s “R” named characters and somehow always end up being the ones I can’t get enough of. I mean you just can’t go wrong with Rhys 😏.
We literally start these two off with a “wham bam thank you ma’am” and gosh it’s steaming the pages. I love a good one night stand story where the characters can’t stop thinking about one another! Their chemistry is off the charts and I devoured this book! I couldn’t get enough of Rhys and Merritt, their “real or fake”, the journey to trust one another after both struggle to do so, the “let me take care of you” parts are beautiful and the romance is that intense, all consuming, scared to love, can’t keep my hands off of you type!
I shed a few tears as we get more on Ryan and the bonding the guys have after the war by how his death affected them all in various ways. I enjoyed seeing some of the Covington guys again, especially Rorik (told you those “R” characters of hers get me every time!). I can’t wait for Dare’s side.
This is one of my favorite romantic suspense full of twists and turns. It’s very hard to catch me off guard but Rebecca definitely did with this one! Maybe I was too busy swooning lol but I freaking loved it! The plot thickens and I am already trying to solve the mystery like Nancy Drew, though it wouldn’t be a true Sharp mystery if I wasn’t thrown off the trail each book.
Read this is you’re in to: one night stand, forced proximity, bodyguard-like, pierced hero, badass FMC, ex-military MMC, found family/brotherhood, action-packed, overarching plot.
As part of Rebecca’s team, I was able to read and review early. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow, these stories are so good. Like all of Dr. Rebecca’s books, we are off and running from the start.

This was an exciting read from page one. There were so many twists and turns to go along with all the secrets. It was definitely a love at first sight kind of romance, but I loved that it wasn’t a trust at first sight and both Rhys and Merritt had to work to earn each other’s trust.
Merritt and Rhys meet by chance. Merritt has been trying to be invisible for the past five years and takes a chance on one night of fun. That one night changes everything. Rhys is just trying to find the person who caused the death of Rob’s parents, but he finds more than he bargained for when he agreed to stake out the gala that Dr. Les was going to be at. Six weeks after their first meeting, Merritt is wanted for murder and Rhys will do anything to find the woman he can’t get out of his head and get some answers.
I loved Merritt and Rhys together. There were so many secrets between them but they just had a very deep connection. I loved the way they catalogued everything as real or fake. They developed their own code from that very first night and it helped them bridge so many gaps. They had both suffered immeasurable loss and that shared understanding tied them together.
This was such a fast paced book, I never knew what was coming next and it was so fun to read.
Merritt Manning aka Venus got involved with the wrong crew. She thought no one would be hurt. When the plan goes wrong, she runs for her life with a rare diamond. Rhys Garrick certainly didn’t expect anything at an event. When he saw a stunning woman with raven hair, he was drawn to her. But when a man tries to hurt her, he steps in and rescues her. Merritt isn’t innocent but she is in trouble. I get that she wants to protect Rhys but I wished she would have been a bit more open with him and his crew. They weren’t all bad. Her just telling half-truths wasn’t helping. Rhys definitely cared for her from the start but he was falling into Dare’s trap. He needed to follow his gut. It took a lot of work and learning about Merritt’s past to finally break through and it was a shocker too. Mercury is defiantly crazy. I love that fight scene. You really see the real Merritt in that part. And I am loving the piercings. WOW! Can’t say I have every experienced it but I’m sure it is hot and interesting. Dare still needs work. He has serious trust issues. Then end of the book gives a glimpse of what is to come. Will this break Dare or will he find love?.

📚Review ~ The Verdict (The Vigilantes) 🖋Author ~ Dr. Rebecca Sharp 🖋Features: Enemies to lovers, Military series, Mystery, MC ⭐️Rating: 5/5
Merritt ~ Like a shooting star bursting through the darkness of my life, I would hold on to this breathtaking moment and wish it could last even though it was impossible.
Rhys ~ The Vigilantes MC was built on the promise of justice, on years of military training and expertise, and honed by our shared tragedy.
Knowing she had nowhere to turn, running for too many years, Merritt’s worst nightmare has come true. The Cosmos gang has finally found her. Her only safe place is with Rhys, a man who not only can help her but also maybe even look beyond the secrets she’s been forced to keep.
The Verdict is the second book in the Vigilantes series. Merritt and Rhys are explosive! Their undeniable attraction is meteoric. I absolutely love Dr. Rebecca Sharp’s books. Her writing is intense and descriptive with amazing characters.
This is book number two in the Vigilantes Series and features Rhys. He is the one night stand king and always happy to entertain with his hurdy-gurdy and a song. That. Is until he meets Merritt a substitute Spanish school teacher at a Christmas party and saves her life and then has wild passionate whoopie with her. But she sneaks out and he’s still obsessing over her months later. Merritt is doing the same obsessing thing but is hiding a big secret. She was partners with a group in Europe who stole jewels. When she’s accused of killing a student’s father who is a plastic surgeon who gave criminals a new look Rhys takes her to Sherwood and the search is on for information to try and clear her. But Merritt is hiding more secrets trying to keep Rhys safe. There’s big problems with Dare (who doesn’t trust anyone) and Rhys who defending Merritt. There’s also problems between the couple because he knows she isn’t telling him the truth. It’s all about trust and fear of losing someone you care about. You’ll have to grab this one to see how it works out. It is action packed, suspenseful, emotional and steamy.
When a diamond heist goes bad in the first pages, it sets the scene for a fascinating story. I was immediately interested in where this story is going, especially when the characters are Mercury, a Texas billionaire and Merritt, who is dressed like Dolly Parton in pink tights and white boots. They are operating under the radar to steal diamonds. The heist becomes a bloodbath and Merritt succeeds in running away. Five years later, the story picks up where Merritt is a substitute Spanish teacher at Havenhurst Academy and a tutor for one of her students, Max. His father, Les, has invited her to a party. She's successfully stayed under the radar for the last five years, but when she locks eyes with the man at the end of the bar, she feels seen. Motorcycle Man is a member of the Vigilantes, an MC that was built on the promise of justice honed by years of military training. Green Berets, brothers by fire. Rhys had been looking for her, but so has the Cosmos gang and the only place she can stay safe is with Rhys. This is a fast-moving, twisting story that took me through some unexpected turns in the road!
Five years ago, the Cosmos gang’s Barcelona heist went awry when members went off-script. Merritt Manning got the upper hand in her scuffle and escaped with $18M in diamonds. Aas a tutor in California, Merritt can start to relax. Rhys Garrick and the Vigilantes are at a holiday event closing in on their plastic surgeon sub-target when Rhys is smitten with Merritt’s charms and the feeling is definitely mutual. Moments later, Rhys steps up to stop a man from forcing Merritt where she obviously doesn’t want to go. Merritt slips away.
Days later, the plastic surgeon is murdered in his home and Merritt"s the prime suspect. Convinced Merritt is innocent, Rhys vows to help her. While looking for clues, Rhys finds Merritt and brings her to HQ for safety. Not everyone believes Merritt’s being honest. With good reason, the man who accosted Merritt was from her old gang, she’s someone Rhys would hunt if he knew. While Rhys’ team helps protect Merritt, she holds information back and plots her escape. Rating: 3.75stars
After a heist gone wrong, Merritt has been in hiding. It's been five years and just when she thinks she's safe, her past catches up to her one night at a party. But an unknown stranger that she dubs "motorcycle man" rescues her from her attacker and they have a wild night together before she disappears again. Rhys has devoted his life to his group of military buddies and their motorcycle group, working undercover for vigilante justice, which is what put him at that party six weeks ago with a woman he can't seem to forget. And then she shows up on the news...prime suspect for a murder he knows she didn't commit. But as much as he still wants her and wants to help her, she's not telling the whole truth. This story dumps you right into the action and it's nonstop thrills and spice until the end. I like how the mystery continues from the first book to connect to Merritt's story and all of my favorite characters had their own part to play. I can't wait to read Dare's story next!
The Verdict is book two in the Vigilantes MC series and follows Rhys and Merritt. While each book has focused on one couple, to really get the complete story that is being crafted this series, you need to read each book in order.
We have the same cast of characters from book one, of course, and we also get a few cameo appearances from some of our friends at Covington Security.
Dr. Sharp is a master at story building and character development. There are no flat, two-dimensional characters to be found. Rhys and Merritt are two sides of the same coin, and that makes for some great spice and conflict. There’s a nice plot twist near the end. I did see it coming, but only because we know the kind of women our MC guys would fall for - and the kind they wouldn’t.
I’m really enjoying the bigger picture that’s being woven into each book in this series and cannot wait to see how it all plays out in the end.
Rhys and Merritt. Both out to save the other and both with extreme secrets. Merritt story spans several continents, jewelry heists, murder, and dirty cops. Rhys has elite force background and searching for the ones responsible for so much family harm. The two meet and have instant connection beyond chemistry but serious concerns and fear of loss cause major communication and trust problems that work out throughout the story. Daria and Harm are part of this story and I loved seeing Daria use her background and experience as the voice of reason. Ty and Darius are also part of everything with Darius bitterness and pain a major factor in Rhys reactions and Merritt understanding. The violence and twists at the end were surprising but fantastic. The last part has a major HEA for Rhys and Merritt and a cliffhanger twist for Darius.
The Verdict is the 2nd book in The Vigilantes series and I would not call this a standalone and would highly recommend reading the books in order for all the background on the MC and their on-going mission for justice. Rhys and Merritt's story is action-filled and fast-paced with lots of heat and quite a bit of violence. There are lots of small details and descriptions of locales that sometimes get a bit confusing and numerous twists and turns. So it takes quite a bit of concentration to follow along, making this a page-turner but not an easy-to-read book. It ends with a HEA for the couple, but the mission will continue and I can't wait for the next story!.

The spontaneous combustion between Rhys and Merritt is exquisitely intense and so freaking hot! He’s never looked for his perfect match, but the connection can not be denied! She has too many secrets, no one to trust, and the danger following her means putting others at risk. Dr Rebecca Sharp never fails to impress: action, suspense, sexy banter, and strong characters with a great plot and twists that cause whiplash! Rhys is so patient with her as he tries to build her trust and learn her secrets. I love the teamwork, their commitment to each other, and the crossover between each series! Merritt couldn’t have found a better man, and the epilogue is the best!.

Wow the twists in this book nearly broke my neck trying to keep up!
Loved this story and adored both characters. Merritt is such a deeply secretive character and I love how she walks the line with Rhys, wanting to tell him everything yet wanting to keep everyone safe too.
Rhys is just a big Teddy really and on the one occasion he shows his teeth with Merritt he regrets it almost instantly.
All the other characters are fab too but especially Dare who get a lot of space in this book and seems to be unravelling more and more. Looking forward to his book next.
A twisty yet satisfying plot with plenty of heat and drama.

I loved The Verdict The Vigilantes. Merritt has a lot of secrets and just when Rhys thinks he knows them all, she has more. He doesn’t realize she’s trying to protect him, her secrets are dangerous and she’s hidden for five years. When danger sites for Merritt, Rhys is determined to keep her safe until she runs and loses his trust and faith. She wants to tell him the truth but she’s trying to protect him. It takes her almost getting killed before Rhys will admit his feelings and get her to reveal the whole truth. I loved the story and the characters. He’s used to doing the protecting, not being protected. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

Merritt has guarded her heart and tried to remain invisible to stay alive. One connection with a mysterious biker and she's struggling to keep strong and stay alone. Her heart wants to trust him but her head just can't.
Rhys has guarded his heart following the loss of his brother in arms by indulging in a continual string of one night stands. He prides himself in his ability to love them and leave them. That all changes drastically when he kills a man to save a beautiful woman. Now he can't stop thinking about her.
When these two are thrown together again will they be able to trust each other in time to take down a group of shady, murderous villains?
Another fantastic story from this author with page turning action from the very start. Plenty of supposed betrayals, suppressed passion and a sweet HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed Merritt's strong character and Rhys's fight not to fall. Excellent!

This is book two in the series and features Rhys. He is truly a good person and tries to help the female lead. Rhys tries to convince her that he and his team of vigilantes are the good guys but will stray the line to help those that the law leaves hanging. I’m am not a fan of the lead female character Merritt aka Venus. She is a good judge of character and right and wrong because Venus has been protecting herself from the bad guys after her for a while. I get that she has been burned before but Venus puts Rhys through some unnecessary chasing. Venus is running from some seriously bad people. There is a happy ending for the couple. Dare is up next to find his female partner. Read On!
This series is definitely not a standalone, and you should read previous series as well because it's connected.
Merritt... What a badass woman. She stuck in a complicated situation, with no one to run for. After years in hiding, she finally found by the bad guy. Rhys somehow in a right place in a right time and saving her. Then somehow they had hot sex (without condom! Why?!), then Merritt runaway.
Weeks later she become suspect of murder, and Rhys try to catch her (since he can't let her go out of his mind). Yada yada yada, apparently Merritt's enemies and Rhys' enemies connected and they try to win the war.
Anyway, it's a good story. The plot twist at the end is unexpected and make it more thrilling to read. Good one! (Only catch is the whole no condom thingy)
This is probably the best book I’ve read by Rebecca Sharp, and I’ve loved many of her books! The Verdict is jam packed with super hot & sexy scenes, non-stop suspense, some wow that caught me by surprise moments and a really intense storyline.
The over arching storyline progresses based on information the guys learn while protecting Merritt. She’s one incredible female character and so much more than I expected or guessed. I love how intense her connection is to Rhys, and how they just combust with sexual chemistry.
Getting to know other members of the Vigilante MC and I’m eager for more!

Merritt has been in hiding for a while now, but one night out her past seems to finally be catching up to her until a stranger steps in. After a wild night with her “motorcycle man”, Merritt and Rhys both can’t stop thinking about the other, but with Merritt now accused of being on the run and a murderer puts Rhys on her trail again. With secrets and suspense the story takes us on a wild ride of Rhys and Merritt trying to prove her innocence while figuring out this building attraction they have for each other. The spice and the twists kept me glued to the pages, devouring every single morsel I could get and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I just could get not get over the flowery language. The number of metaphors in a paragraph was just too much. I saw this TikTok recently where the woman was acting out a scene ordering a coffee like she was in a romance book and I laughed because it was so over the top. Then I read this and she could have been reading from The Verdict.
The premise in and of itself was interesting (Sharp's books almost always are!) but the writing was distracting to the point I couldn't feel a connection between the two MCs. I just wish there was consistency between books. Some of hers are fantastic!
I really like Rebecca Sharp and the worlds she creates. In this installment, we get to know Rhys and Merrit. Well, we get to know Merrit. We didn't get a lot of depth with Rhys - I do wish we could have gotten a little more. I did LOVE how alpha he was, and the way it was written, it was primal! Merrit's character was really interesting and I liked getting to know her. I loved her background and her story - not your run of the mill at all. The two of them together made a great couple, great chemistry. The plot line of the story was great also - lots of intensity and "what's gonna happen next" moments, just how I like them!
There was no slow burn here, Rhys and Merritt were red hot from the moment they met, regardless of the lies, deceit, and lack of trust between them and surrounding them. This well developed storyline has a lot of moving parts as truths are revealed and the plot twists and turns keep you invested until the end as Rhys and Merritt determine what’s real and what’s false. Thank you BookSprout for the opportunity to review this excellent book.
