L. Shannon, the author, came into existence in June of 2004. Shannon’s always been a reader and lover of books, but never considered writing until one night when she ran out of books to read… She began writing that very night as the first line of defense in a battle against insomnia. Her writing has steadily grown into a full-out war against reality. Her friends kindly say reality never stood a chance.

The L. Shannon novels have expanded to fill an entire world with paranormal wonders including Valàfrn werewolves, Tascryn demons, blood-sucking vampires, sexy selkies and many, many more. Be careful if you choose to enter Shannon’s hunk-filled world. You may never wish to leave…

In the time Shannon doesn’t spend writing, she’s kept busy by bothering her super supportive husband, showing dogs, gardening and watching over her Butterfly Koi ponds. You can learn more about her writing and her life at www.lshannon.net.

synopsis:

what i liked: not a lot

what i didn't like: the story was mostly sex and running, there wasn't really any plot. also, lots of extraneous commas and apostrophes.

If it wasn't for an A-Z challenge, I wouldn't be here right now. This book has the promise and potential of being really enjoyable, but it just didn't meet the mark and lacked so much substance to make this an enjoyable read and a gripping story.

POV's were messy and confusing, with the chapters jumped randomly between FMC and MMC and what I learned as being 'Division 8', which I didn't really understand until it tied up in the end. It went from a differing third person perspective to first person and internal monologues.
Some grammatical errors and a lot of missing words/incorrect words used. It was really difficult to follow at times.

I just feel it wasn't well thought out. Based on my thoughts on reading the book, there is SO MUCH potential for this to be a great story or series, but it just wasn't executed correctly.

Enjoyable but quick read

I did enjoy the story, but it was missing something. It didn’t pull me in the way I expect the best stories to do. The story line was relatively unique. It did include the fated mates / instalove that has to be done right to be believable. The relationship between the two MCs was not developed. The Division 8 presentation (and Deven) definitely could have been better.

The whole book could have been longer, developed more, rather than trying to cram too much into what was essentially a short story. Flesh it out more and the author could have an excellent book here. I probably will read the next installment in the series.

Interesting but not quite there…

This was an interesting take on a paranormal world that intersects with the human world. It is designed to set up a new series so there was a bit of legwork to do to get things started. There were a lot of side characters introduced that will probably have their own books at some point.
I mostly enjoyed the book but it didn’t quite work for me. I can’t put a finger on why, other than it desperately needed proofreading. I don’t know if I’d read further in the series at the moment.

Good concept, but a lot of plot holes. A few here and there got filled in towards the end but not enough.

With his clan now extinct – by his own hands – werewolf Zeven Ochoa has no allegiances. An elite assassin, he’s hired by a werewolf alpha and her mate to take out a doctor who is threatening to expose werewolves’ existence to humans. Another job means nothing to Zeven…until he finds out who the target is. Harley Walters, now Dr. Harley Lex, is the woman who captured Zeven’s heart, then broke it ten years ago. Zeven knows this is the first job he’ll be unable to complete. But to protect Harley from those hunting her, Zeven will have to take on an entire werewolf clan. And even if he succeeds, can Harley love the man Zeven has become? Or will she break his heart a second time?

L. Shannon ramps up the action in this fast-paced, sensual first installment to the sure-to-be intriguing Division 8 series. Zeven Ways to Kill Your Lover has all the excitement of a blockbuster action film paired with a sexy love story. I admit, I’m a sucker for a reunion romance, and Zeven and Harley’s was truly satisfying. Harley’s reasons for leaving Zeven all those years ago were reasonable, even if I did sympathize with his heartbreak. That the two are meant to be together is never in question. There are still plenty of obstacles, however, that they have to overcome. I wouldn’t dream of spoiling the book by saying what roadblocks are in their path to happily ever after, only that I finished Zeven Ways to Kill Your Lover a well-satisfied reader. I greatly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next Division 8 story.
