The Rules We Break

Rate this book
Rules.

Some people say they are meant to be broken, but not these ones. These are designed to protect me, to make sure I never feel the pain I did almost ten years ago. The dull but present pain I still feel every time my past taunts me.

From the Loyalties that have remained broken, I built my Walls high and tall, creating these Rules to make sure all Hearts, most of all mine, will stay guarded.

That was the plan at least, until she came along.

Trevooorrrrr 🥵 🥵 🥵 OMG THIS BOOK WAS REDEMPTION AT ITS FINEST! If you know me Seb has had a chokehold on me since he was first introduced and I despised Trevor Iykyk! But let me tell you what Katelyn has done in this book. She got my worst enemy, made him super hot, super arrogant, and made him into this sexy superstar who is still super arrogant and hot BUT also turned him into this AMAZING human being! I hold damn grudges FOREVER! Apparently not for Trevor!

Okay now let me tell you about Sage… she’s officially my best friend, I’m obsessed with her smart ass mouth and sass but also she’s tatted and wears leather jackets and black. Like hi she’s amazing.

Okay now the book overall; The Rules We Break had me sucked in from the first sentence to the last. I lived and breathed it for 1.5 days, and when I wasn’t reading it I was thinking about it. That’s how amazing it was. Not only was it a really great romance but the smut 🫠 was steamy, the banter between Trevor and Sage was banging and the storyline was perfection. I love me a good secretive past and this one had a great one (please be sure to read the triggers). I’m completely lovestruck with this book and so sad to see the alphalete series come to an end but what a way to end it! Katelyn Taylor the alphaletes series *chefs kiss* 👩🏻‍🍳 😘 👏🏽
A series I will continuously recommend. Please read them if you haven’t. Trevor… that is all 🥵

One of my most anticipated reads of the year… and it’s finally here! The first thing I did when I finished the Alphaletes series, was message Katelyn Taylor and shamelessly beg for Trevor. He’s the guy I love to hate. I wanted to kick him in the balls but also rub them and tell him it’ll be okay 😂.

Seb has always been my favorite, but Trevor gave him good competition. He went from shit list to “yes please” list with his redemption. I just love him. 😮‍💨😮‍💨

But how did he achieve this redemption you ask? With mutha fuckin Sage. 💜Gah this girl is everything I want to be. Confident, sexy, speaks her mind, gives no fvcks …. She’s basically Trevor with boobs. 😂. EXACTLY what he needed…. He finally met his match. 👏🏼👏🏼

But, I’m so so so sad it’s all over 😭. I loved getting glimpses of all my favorites. I loved getting Trevor’s story. I loved everything about it. All the fucking stars and totally worth the wait. It made me miss the series so much… I decided to reread so I can highlight all the things. ❤️

Forever one of my favorite series.

I was so excited to finish off the Alphaletes series, especially being that Trevor finally gets his redemption! And in my eyes he does. Yes, it took him way too long to finally move on from Erica, but really he just needed Sage. Her no nonsense, zero fucks to give attitude, hit Trevor square in the chest and he didn’t know what hit him. I just loved it. She said what she meant, and meant what she said…plus she really was a good influence on him. Trevor was a low human in Erica and Seb’s book, but life is all about learning from our errors, and doing better. And Trevor making good, finally with Sebastian was so nice to see all them coming together still in the epilogue. Great found family series. There is domestic violence referenced so take note.

Thank you Katelyn for the ARC.

“Some of the most important moments are the ones we never see coming.”

Sage is bold, fierce, blunt, funny AF (love her energy) and has zero interest in Trevor Michaels. In fact, she hates him. Doesn’t matter that they had exceptional sex on a whim. She doesn’t do repeats and neither does he. They’re really two peas in a pod; doing exactly what they want with no regrets. However, as they say, don’t tempt fate. Sage is back in town and thanks to her father, Trevor’s coach, she’s also the new team social media girl. So staying away isn’t so easy.
Turns out she is EXACTLY what Trevor needed. It feels like she’s waking him up or bringing life back into his soul. I loved their connection. Their banter. The toe to toe. But also the tenderness. How Trevor truly takes care of Sage, protecting her and making her feel safe. Giving her the comfort she’s always longed for. And man Trevor redeemed himself. I’m in love!! But honestly, I always saw this side of him. That’s why I begged and harassed Katelyn to give Trevor his HEA. He deserved this and I ate it up.
This book had my heart racing. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It also left my eyes puffy. Yes of course I cried!! My heart is so full. What a ride. I’m going to miss this world so much. The Alphaletes forever.

“If you didn’t already know this, you do now. When I want something, I take it, and I make no apologies for how I get it.”

“I have a lot of least favorite people in this world. You aren’t one of them.”

“Tell me you don’t feel it too, and I’ll take it all back. Tell me you don’t feel this, and I’ll let you go.”

“If there is anything I’ve learned so far in my life, though, it’s that nothing is permanent. Things break. Whether it’s Loyalties, Walls, Hearts or Rules. It’s all about having the right person by your side to help put the pieces back together.”

All the fucking stars

Trevor has to be the most unlikeable MMC I’ve ever read. Emotionally immature playboy who is still “in love” with his ex after 10 yrs!!! Meanwhile she has been happily married that whole time. Just weird, gross and entitled behavior. I swear he would have been more likable as a serial unaliver. I typically DNF books I hate this much but I (stupidly) convinced myself there would have to be something that might make Trevor redeemable…

Having devoured all the preceding books in this series, it's became glaringly apparent that Trevor is a shattered individual masquerading as a womanizer, all to shield himself from the agony of heartbreak. So he comes up with his own stringent rules on sex and relationships to serve as a fortress around his fragile heart. Yet his behavior often paints him in a negative light, overshadowing his true self. Even his friendships suffer from his unfiltered, indifferent demeanor.

When Trevor discovers that the younger vixen from his steamy one night stand turns out to be the head coach’s daughter, things get interesting and angsty. Trevor and Sage’s relationship goes through many stages of lust, hate, and eventually so much more. Sage was a boss bitch and gave Trevor a run for his money. Every scene between the two of them HAD ME OBSESSED. Before he even realizes it, Trevor is breaking all of his own rules.

I needed this book so much, and not one bit of it disappointed me. There were moments and scenes that elicited every emotion out of me. Humorous banter and clever inner monologues will always tip my rating scale and Katelyn delivered both with great skill.

Not only that, but the woman can write a spicy scene! They were sprinkled throughout like your favorite toppings on the best sundae dessert. CHAPTER 35 (yes, the whole chapter) was one of the hottest scenes I have ever read. It will live infamously in my mind. Sage’s propositioning to Trevor had me laughing, blushing, and thinking about my own similar fantasies.

I will always recommend this series and I stand by my words when I say that Katelyn saved the best for last. Also, movie theater buttered popcorn is life.

🔥🔥🔥

Everytime I read a book by Katelyn I think..nothing can beat the last one but then it is! I swear there is something in her books because I always finish them in one setting! This one was no exception and I think it's my new favorite by her!

I was nervous about this one because of what happened in The Loyalties We Break (which if you haven't read I HIGHLY recommend but you don't have to in order to understand this one). Trevor definitely needed to redeem himself and boy did he in this one.. am I..am I in love with Trevor??

Trevor seems to be like a lost puppy when the woman he loves has moved on and started a whole new life with his "ex" best friend. Even though they are still in each other's lives it's not the same for him. He's struggling and takes on the playboy role. He has rules when it comes to hooking up and he NEVER breaks them. Cue in Sage.

Sage is the female version of Trevor. She's looking for no strings attached and doesn't want to do the relationship thing. One night in the club leads to them hooking up and going their separate ways.

But fate had other plans... turns out Sage's dad is Trevor's football coach and in order to watch over his daughter, he gave her a new job as the social media manager of the team. Which means she will be seeing a LOT more of Trevor.

The banter between Trevor and Sage was TOP notch..I was laughing so much! Sage put Trevor in his place and that's exactly what he needed! But can we also talk about how sweet Trevor can be?? Like I was totally swooning. When Trevor was vulnerable with Sage and they exchanged stories, I was losing it.

I absolutely LOVED this book and it was everything I wanted plus more! Spice (which hello...my kindle almost lit on fire it was so hot), banter, emotion, and suspense! The suspense towards the end kind of threw me off guard and I was holding my breath freaking out. This book was the perfect end to the Alphaletes series and I can't wait to see what Katelyn has in store next!

Okay so Trevor has been on our shit list since book one. He fu*ked up 🤷🏻‍♀️ And I’ve been wondering if we’d get a redemption book and Katelyn always delivers 👏🏻

This book is going to make your heart hurt for our cocky quarterback. The pain he has carried for many many years and the weight his shoulders bare. Despite his internal battle he is actually very protective, loyal and a big softie.

Then we have…..this tattooed, curvy, fierce definition of a SPITFIRE, Sage. Who is determined to put Trevor Michaels in his place 👏🏻 She is a QUEEEENN y’all!

Their chemistry was automatic 😮‍💨
The angst between them was 🤌🏼

“Trevor and I are like gasoline and fire. Sure we can burn hot and heavy for a little bit, right before we burn the world around us to the ground”

We get to see the alphaletes come together in a way like never before in this book too! A little darkness thrown into our sports romance. I liked it.

Absolutely loved their story! If you haven’t read this series, please do so. It’s seriously so amazing. Im so sad to see it come to an end but it will forever be a favorite of mine! 🤍

I’m so sad this series is over but what a way to close it out. I absolutely loooooved this one! The chemistry and the banter between Trevor & Sage was so so good. You know when the 2 MC’s hate each other so much that when they finally give in it’s gonna be explosive and holy sh*t panties just kept getting destroyed. I honestly forgot what happened with the whole Trevor, Erica, Sebastian situation from book one so I had to have a little refresher 🤦🏻‍♀️And then I remembered I hated him… until this book. Redemption! I was rooting so hard for these 2 and I’m so happy that Trevor finally found his forever love. Oh and also that suspenseful twist at the end had me at the edge of my seat 🫢. Can’t recommend this book and this series enough, so good!

Okay well going into this I really didn’t think anything would be able to make me like Trevor but here I am just finishing this and holy shit this was my favourite of the series!!! Honestly if I could I would rate it higher.

Trevor well and truly found his match with Sage I loved them so much right from the start how much they hated eachother this was so funny how much shit gave back to Trevor was what he needed! Haha
I can easily say now that I love Trevor and I think he’s now my favourite MMC out of the series.

Fuck this series was incredible but anything Katelyn writes I love so I knew this was going to be amazing as soon as I picked it up!

It was also so amazing and so much fun that all the boys came back together to play on the same team.

Trevor! Oh my Trevor!

The past books in the alphalete series you get a lot of Trevor. You get to where you are mad at Trevor, then pissed at Trevor, then HATE Trevor!!!

So going into this book I knew I needed a MAJOR REDEMPTION and goodness did Katelyn deliver! WOW!!! WOW! WoW!!!!

You have Trevor and Sage as the 2 MC’s!

She is the coaches daughter on the new team where Trevor plays as the quarterback in the NFL!

And Sage just so happens to be the new team media specialist. As they are both moving to Seattle at the same time.

So the forced proximity and the fact that her father has told the whole team his daughter is off limits starts the book off in the right Direction.

Fast forward a little and you find out the demons that Trevor has been carrying around and Sage’s past being a big ole pile of chaos, somehow causes a magnet between the two grumps.

Their interactions are full of sarcastic banter and a hate-hate relationship that you know is more of a love-hate…. Which is written so well
It has you gripping your seat for more. The characters though grumpy, I absolutely loved! They are so strong and thrive in coming out on top.

And then the previous MC’s from
The series being such a huge part of the book & the mending of some relationships and letting go of others… it’s just so well written!!

I’m in awe of how the author comes up with such amazing storylines.

This is a book I’ll be thinking about for years to come. Cannot recommend it enough. Well done Katelyn! Well done babe!!!

Thank you for this eARC in return for my honest review.

Idk how she did it but Katelyn made me go from HATING Trevor to absolutely LOVING HIM.

A lot of it had to do with Sage. I LOVED SAGE she was the perfect FMC that needed to come in and knock Trevor’s ego down. And she did it so well it had me cracking up with her witty come backs.

The enemies to lovers vibes were there and I was obsessed. The chemistry between the two was just *chefs kiss* perfect🥵🔥

I was also really glad that Seb and Trevor ended up making up and Trevor FINALLY got over Erica and found a deeper love with Sage.

It was the perfect way to end the series, even tho I was dragging my feet on wanting to read Trevor’s book😂 I’m glad I did because it’s my favorite of the whole series🤭

Trevor Michaels is the man we love to hate, let’s be honest he’s made some questionable choices in the name of love in the previous books.

But OMG he redeemed himself 100% … my heart broke for Trevor through the first half of this book, he holds a special place in my heart.

Sage was the perfect match for Trevor, she was sassy and badass and she gave as good as she got.

It’s safe to say these two have a rocky start, they make it pretty clear they hate each other.
But when Sage’s apartment is broken into she ends up staying with Trevor and they soon realise maybe they get along better than they thought.

I loved their chemistry from the start and it just got hotter as the book went on!

The friend group in this series are one of my favs they are always there for each other even if they don’t particularly like each other (Seb I’m looking at you!).

I’m sad the Alphaletes series has ended but it ended on a high. I can’t recommend this series enough.

THE RULES WE BREAK (ARC) - KATELYN TAYLOR
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 🌶️🌶️🌶️

" ‘𝑵𝒐 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔, 𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒚. 𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖.’ ‘𝑷𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆,’ 𝑰 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒔𝒐𝒇𝒕𝒍𝒚.
‘𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔,’ 𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒔.“

I don’t know how she did it because I didn’t think she could get me to love any of her characters more than Atlas Kane…but here we are! Trevor and Sage are smoking hot separately, but when you put the two of them together, hot damn! They are perfect for each other. Now I have to admit guys, I haven’t read any of the other books in this series but I got right into this, no confusion about who was who, enough of a backstory to leave me dying to read about all the other characters though.

I devoured this book. And I’ve been in a massive reading slump, so it must have been excellent. I absolutely love Katelyn’s writing style. Her books are so easy to read. THANK YOU KATELYN FOR SENDING ME THIS ARC. 🫶🏼🫶🏼

There were some things I really liked about this book. It gave a different perspective on Trevor. He’s a very flawed character and while some of the things he did were awful, I think this book was a reminder that he was young and hurt. This was a good redemption story. Along with that, I liked the banter between Sage and Trevor. Sage’s sarcasm was artistic. And I’ll give it to the author, these two took spice to the next level.

With that said, there were equally things that made me dislike this book. I hate the age gap trope in general so Sage being 11 years younger and not even legally being able to drink yet when these two started…gross. At one point he talked about wishing he met her sooner. Ummm any sooner and he’d have ended up in prison. Sage was also a walking stereotype of “daddy problems” and it had me rolling my eyes. All of this along with the motorcycle gang stuff, it just felt so unnecessary.

One night stand/ forced proximity/ slow burn/ angst and banter/ spicy 🔥🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/ enemies to friends with benefits to lovers/ he falls first without knowing/ no third act break ( just a minor misunderstanding)/ protective hero/ feisty heroine

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I cant tell you how much I've been waiting for this book!! Ever since the first one i was hoping for Trevor's story and wow this didn't disappoint! I've read it as the other ones in a matter of hours as i was hooked in. Katelyn such has an amazing writing to get you deeply and instantly connected with the story and their characters That's why shes one of if not my favorite contemporary romance author❤️ im a book nerd but I've never experienced what i experienced with Katelyn Taylor books. Each one of them are crafted masterfully so if you hadn't read any of her book please do yourself a favor and start now!!!

Now to the story... I loved their development and how they managed Trevor's conflicting feelings with Erika. 10 years had past from book 1 and Trevor still can't let go. When Sage comes to the picture everything starts slowly changing for him without realizing even though it takes time which i wasn't mad as it helped build their connection way more. I would say they are the most sexual couple of the series and they scenes are of another level of spice🌶️🥵 seriously i wasn't prepared but oh so welcome. They have one night stand but both characters aren't willing for a repeat because of their own rules to avoid heartbreak her because of her father and him because of Erica.

Sage in a way helps Trevor grow in a way harshly by pushing his bottoms, and telling him everything to his face. He needed to get out of his ass and Sage with her sassy, feisty, strong and vocal attitude doesn't leave any receipts...
We obviously knew from the other books that Trevor was kinda immature in some ways and with Sage he finally grows to a man. Sage is an interesting character and i believe one of the most badass unafraid female characters i ever read she never holds back, she hardly cried and isn't afraid to speak her mind and teach some manners to Trevor.
I loved the angst, the banter and the tension with it. Then everything changes when Sage apartment is robbed and she need a place to crash. Erika is kinda the god fairy in this one as i believe she finally found a way to get Trevor out of her back and finally enjoy her marriage and i dont blamed her. So she convinces a grumpy Trevor to let Sage stay in. And that's where everything changes 360° and they slowly pass from one night stand enemies to friends with benefits.

But when Sage goes on a date with one of Trevor teammates Trevor is furious and basically ruins her date by intercepting her in the bathroom and having explosive sex. Sage returns to her date but ends up eventually returning to Trevor as she didn't felt a spark when he kissed her.

So now they are stick to hooking up behind doors as she is still working for the team and all and doesn't want to cause more drama with his father who is already a very conflicting relationship.
Trevor surprised me so much with his honesty to her and the vulnerability he showed when talking of his past emotions and current ones i was so happy about it. At first his actions spoke louder than words but then finally he declares to her they are in a relationship and that she will if not accept it let it. It was possessive i know and dominant I know but i loved it. Trevor finally stopping with the excuses and fighting for someone and making it so damn clear what he wants was so refreshing. Sage accepts and they officially are dating and make it public.
We have a minor slip up where while in Erica's and Seb's house Sage sees Trevor with Erika talking and gets jealous of them thinking his still in love of her attempting to flee but superman Trevor arrives before she can and clarifies to her his feelings in a oh so wholesome way and says for the very first time that he loves her🥺 grab some tissues for this one. I loved how Trevor managed to explain his once relationship with Erika and how he felt now knowing and being with Sage. He finally understands why they weren't endgame with Erika and why it took him so much to let go. Im not gonna spoil it so you'll understand what I mean by this when you read it.😉

So the only thing that missed was the reason of why Sage went to Trevor's place, why her department was robbed and why she was so adamant in letting someone in. She and Erica, now besties, are shopping and suddenly a van pops out with a bunch of dudes armed and they want to take Sage away. Thankfully someone in the crowd intervenes and help them until their boyfriends come to rescue. So with that happening she finally tells him that she has an abusive ex gang motorcycle boyfriend who wasn't happy with her leaving him. Trevor is so worried and persistent in protecting so he hires a bunch of guys as security for her. Everything is going well until she is in her period and asks Trevor to buys her some snacks. Alone in the house with her security outside the gang manages to take her.
Trevor arrives and is ballistic but determined to get her back. He turns Liam Neeson mode and calls Seb for back up. So now is the part where we see all the guys in action and it was so damn funny 🤣 They save her with tons of bravery but have the police arrive in minutes so they were also lucky as they weren't not so many dudes around and Seb and Declan had guns. So yeah that was a little surreal but it was funny and entertaining and also thrilling so i wasn't mad about it.

On the epilogue they secretly get married and i was so emotional with that last line merging every single title of the books series in it.

My only critiques would be:
- the nickname that Trevor gives her " Little Raven" it felt weird as he used to call Erika "Little Red" like i would have prefer just "Raven".

- the amount of spice that it had : dont get me wrong i love some nice spice and this book has tons of it but i felt that we needed some more scenes of them doing normal couple stuff without of it being sexual. They seemed dependant on sex if they were angry, if sad , sex was their way to solve everything and yes maybe sometimes it can but not every.single. time.

- lack of depth in Sages character. Even though i liked her and her badass personality I've still felt short with her. Compared to Trevor i felt like i still didn't know her completely as she kept many things to her self and even Trevor. I needed her to be more open and vulnerable to share more about where she came from, her relationship with her dad and all. Like the whole story of her ex only arrives because she didn't have any option to tell him. She waited until something happened to do so. So yeah i think it would have been nice to have more background on her character because as it was, for me wasn't enough.

So that's it guys the conclusion of the series.
This series was special to me and i seriously couldn't recommend you more 💯 Trevor was definitely the highlight and my favorite thing of the book ⭐☺️ i loved his redemption and personal growth 😇

These series are a journey, an emotional trainwreck so you have to be prepare to FEEL😭❤️ i loved seeing everyone together and getting to know where they were at, even though at first the road has lots of tension the conclusion was everything and more I LOVED IT❤️💞😍

Well damn Trevor, you just had to break every rule and make me love you all the more for it.....

GAH....this book was SO worth the wait!!
Throughout this series, Trevor Michaels has always been the wild card but in a way, the most surprising. He’s a man whose words and actions continually kept him walking a fine line between the life and love he always envisioned for himself and the one he truly deserved to live. Misunderstood, hated, and even pitied, his redemption was a long time coming and I for one couldn't wait!

Only who knew that it would take the one woman he hates most to finally put Trev on that redeeming path?! That a young, snarky and abrasive spitfire who schooled him on the regular could be the only woman who could mend the broken pieces of this playboys heart.... eventually becoming everything he needed, wanted, and so much more! A woman who FINALLY made Trevor think...Erica who??

Now, there's nothing I love more than a heated enemies to lovers story and this was SO DAMN GOOD! Right from the start, Trevor and Sage were absolute FIRE! The heat, the tension, the fiery banter, and the sexy times were just chef's 💋💋 and though that was most of the good stuff, what I loved most was the sweet and intimate moments they shared. Where the walls and rules were dropped, allowing them to see the real relationship they were building and cheering them on as they fell harder for each other....

Katelyn truly blew me away with this one and it was such an amazing story about anyone who has ever loved and lost and unsure if they'll ever be able to love again!  I couldn't have imagined a more perfect and final ending for these characters and this incredible series! As much as Trevor finding his HEA thrilled me to no end, it was in the way that Seb and him made peace that really brought happy tears to my eyes!

As the Alphaletes come to a close, it's kinda bittersweet to say goodbye. These characters have all come full circle and while I'm left in a state of happy sadness, it's been such an amazing ride that I couldn't have loved  more.

I was so dang excited for this book & let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I think this may be an unpopular opinion, however, I have loved Trevor from the very beginning so I’m really glad he finally got his redemption arc & found his happily ever after with the right woman for him. ❤️

The Rules We Break is book 4 in the Alphaletes series following Trevor & Sage who meet at a night club & end up having a one night stand. Little did they know that they would be seeing each other again, & very soon since Sage is now working for the NFL Trevor plays for. Not only that, but she is the head coach’s daughter. What could possibly go wrong having to work in close proximity to the person who you had the best sex if your life with… who also hates your guts.

Sage is such a bad*ss b*tch. I loved her character so much. I think she was exactly what Trevor needed. Someone to put him in his place & to give as good as he gave. As far as I’m concerned, these two were a match made in heaven. & Trev’s dirty mouth? Whewwww. That man had me blushing at every turn 😮‍💨🤭

This was such a perfect ending to an amazing series. Thank you so much Katelyn for allowing me to beta & arc read for you!

Trevor Michaels 🧎🏻‍♀️
That's it, that is all, that is the review.

No, but seriously, this man is hot. He redeemed himself from book 1 within this series and I fell more in love with him than possible.

But my girl Sage, ugh, I love feisty women, they make my heart happy😂

These two together were opposites but in the best fǔcking way possible.

I am so sad this series is over, omg.

Emotional Rollercoaster To A Soul Satisfying Ending!! A Definite Must Read & Top 2024 Reads!!

*Part of an interconnected series but still could technically be read out of order. I would highly suggest you read in order to fully grasp each character's journey to get the full effect since they are interconnectedin each book.*

Ok, this book was pure perfection for my sports romance-loving heart, and getting to go back into this world and see these characters growth from book to book was absolutely amazing!! Hands down Katelyn Taylor delivered another amazing read that just captures you from the start!! I will say this was a bittersweet read knowing this is the last book in the Alphaletes series, but she gave a phenomenal storyline and a perfect ending with this one! I mean she took a character I really disliked from book one "The Loyalties We Break" and made him slightly redeemable for me. Yes, I truly still have a grudge against him from book one lol, but honestly, she did give him some seriously redeemable moments in this one even if it pains me to admit sorta of lol. Trevor Michaels finally grows up and it only took a tattooed smart mouth feisty 20/21-year-old woman to give him a dose of reality. From all of us readers from book one thanks Sage you did the unthinkable here!!

I loved how we still get each character from previous books intertwined into the storyline once again. I absolutely love all of these characters for various reasons, so keeping that connection to them all in this book was so much fun to read. Just be prepared to find yourself laughing, needing a drink or fan when the spice hits, and maybe teary-eyed by the end because this is one up-and-down ride with Trevor and Sage.

If you love sports romance, heat- inducing spicy moments, redemption, finding the one, witty banter, and epic series ending this is your book!! Hands down this one will be at the top of my 2024 reads and of course, rereads also. I honestly can't believe it's officially over but the journey was well worth it. Katelyn Taylor is an automatic One-Click author for me and I just can't wait to see what else she brings next!! Highly recommend this book/series to any reader because it's way more than just a sports romance it brings all the feels to keep you glued until the very end. If I could give more than 5 stars I definitely would on this one!!

This was the redemption arc we didn’t know we were craving—but damn, did Trevor deliver.

After spending the last couple of books living in the wreckage of his own decisions, Trevor finally claws his way into the spotlight in The Rules We Break, he earns every second of it. From the moment he appeared in The Loyalties We Break and then tangled up hearts in The Hearts We Break, we’ve been split—one foot in love, the other ready to throttle him. But this book? It peels him raw, shatters him, and rebuilds him into the man we always hoped was buried beneath the mess.

Trevor is still obsessed—hopelessly, achingly in love with Erica, who’s now happily married to another man (and let’s be honest, she deserves her peace). But instead of drowning in self-pity, Trevor tries to move on. Enter Sage: fierce, mouthy, no-nonsense, and exactly the chaos Trevor didn’t see coming—but everything he needed.

Their dynamic? Oh, it’s deliciously explosive. They clash like fire and gasoline—fighting, resisting, and inevitably falling into hate sex so good it practically crackles off the page. Sage is no damsel, and she doesn’t give a damn about Trevor’s tortured past. She demands the real him, and in doing so, she challenges him to finally grow the hell up.

What makes this story hit harder is that it doesn’t erase Trevor’s past. Katelyn Taylor leans into his pain, his guilt, and the emotional fallout from his unrequited love for Erica. And when Sage starts to crack open the parts of him he’s buried deep, you feel every moment of that shift. Watching him fall for someone new—really fall—is as satisfying as it is healing.

Sage is the standout heroine the series needed—sharp-tongued, unapologetic, and with enough emotional depth to hold her own in a series filled with heavy-hitting characters. She doesn’t fix Trevor. She dismantles him, and in that chaos, he finds clarity.

And let’s not forget Trevor’s role in The Hearts We Break—the loyalty, the pain, the choices. That book showed us a man trying to be good, but this one proves he can be. He was always more than Erica’s ghost, and finally, he gets his own damn heartbeat.

In this story, rules are not just guidelines but lifelines for the main character, Trevor Michaels. These rules keep him from experiencing the heartache that haunts him from almost a decade ago. Trevor has built walls around his heart, ensuring no one can get close. That is until Sage comes into his life. Bold, fierce, and funny, Sage has no interest in Trevor initially, but circumstances force them together, challenging Trevor's rules and stirring feelings he thought were long buried.

Sage is a vibrant and strong-willed character. Her energy and bluntness set her apart. Though young, her maturity and fierce nature make her captivating. Beneath her tough exterior lies a vulnerable side that adds depth to her character. Trevor, on the other hand, is a complex character marked by past mistakes and a longing for redemption. His journey from a dominant, troubled quarterback to a caring and protective partner for Sage is compelling. Their dynamic is full of witty banter, tender moments, and a mutual need for healing.

The plot revolves around the evolving relationship between Sage and Trevor. The story starts with a fast pace, full of steamy and spicy moments that keep readers engaged. The tension between the characters is palpable, and their growing connection feels natural and inevitable. Sage's role as the team’s social media manager, thanks to her father, who is Trevor's coach, forces them into close proximity, fueling their chemistry. The twist towards the end, with Sage running from someone, adds an unexpected layer of suspense, making the conclusion even more satisfying.

Sage’s fierce personality and Trevor’s redemptive arc create a dynamic and engaging storyline. The fast pacing and steamy scenes keep readers hooked, while the deeper emotional elements and the blending humor and suspense provide a satisfying balance. The twist at the end is a delightful surprise, adding depth to the narrative. Fans of the Alphathletes series will not be disappointed with Trevor’s story. Not only this book is a must-read, but the entire series if you enjoy a blend of romance, humor, and suspense.

I have to say, Trevor’s book was highly anticipated, he had such a presence in the rest of the series and a lot to overcome and even a little redemption to work towards. Katelyn did not disappoint in giving me all I could’ve hoped for and more.

Gosh, these two had me smiling and laughing the entire time. Even when they were enemies and not really getting along, it made it so much better knowing how they are so alike and perfect for one another. They just needed to catch up with that-it was a fun journey to watch.

Sage is hilarious, sassy and fun, while set in her ways and guarded, understandably with all she had gone through in her life. I very much enjoyed getting to know her. Sage and Trevor are exactly alike but Trevor is completely dumbfounded that he has met his match. I don’t think he knows what to do with her, and I loved their first few interactions so much.

The banter with these two is next level, and had me constantly wanting to see what they would say to each other just to push those buttons. Any initial hostility transformed into an unlikely friendship, some very spicy moments, and eventually into caring for one another on a deep level. Oh, these two could definitely steam up the page and had intense chemistry from the very start, but as things started shifting the sweet, swoony, moments thoughts and feelings that emerged were really showcased well.

Poor Trevor he has had one heck of journey and some amazing character development. Although he acted questionably at the beginning of the story, he quickly realized he couldn’t keep going the way he was. I loved watching him work on everything and also as he developed stronger feelings for Sage it really helped him realize even more about himself.

As with all of Kaitlyn‘s books in the series, I love her writing and story. I get another shock at the end with a couple twists! I flew through the ending of this book needing to know how it would all turn out.

I think this one ended up being my favourite of the series. Trevor and Sage really were a wonderful match, two people who always said they would never do relationships or love, find happiness with each other full of such understanding and care.

I’m sad this series is all done, but this was an amazing ending for this little found family!

This series was my first introduction to this author, and I’ve loved every word of it. And having read this series in order I really didn’t think I would like this book. But I’ve also been dying to read it to see everyone all together at the end of their careers after having first met them way back in college. I feel like I’ve watched them grow up and start families and break apart and come back together.

Trevor has been such a selfish acehole who jeopardised the relationships and friendships of everyone around him and I wanted him to go crawl under a rock and die. Don’t get me wrong I felt for him, kind of. He made a mistake, and he owned it and didn’t try to hide from the stupid. He just didn’t course correct. And as humans I think we do tend to hold onto things and it’s especially hard to move on from relationships that have such huge significance on our lives.

When we first met Sage, she caught my attention hard. She was not someone I immediately took to, but she was so unapologetically herself that I respected her. I was dying to know what her story was and when we finally got it, I found I liked her and saw her soft underbelly a lot more.

Trevor’s redemption was really awesome to watch, and I completely forgave him all of his past indiscretions. I also loved and hated that we didn’t see Sebastian’s feelings on the changes in Trevor or his relationship with Sage. I thought for a moment we were going to see him have a chat with Sage about the whole Trevor / Erica thing, but alas I was wrong. Not that what actually transpired wasn’t better.

The whole book had so much happening and so many different types of relationships being shown in their different styles and stages. I couldn’t wait to see how different things were going to come to light or be resolved. I’m just so sad to be at the end of the series and having to say goodbye to all of these characters. Now I have to stalk the author to see what else she has for me to jump into.
