Very helpful, since I’m leading a discussion group on this book in a couple of months. It will help me to remember what I’ve read and to formulate questions for the online discussion.
Nothing wrong with “ Cliff Notes,” unless you used them instead of reading the book!
I wasn’t sure about this book at first. This one I read first book club. I honestly enjoyed the book. I learned a lot about a different custom and the things they do. Ever interesting! I might have to check out some other books by this author.
Interesting insight into early China in the Ming Dynasty and the custom of feet binding of wealthy women and the life they lead. Then the breaking of tradition and Lady Tan’s rise to become a respected doctor for women.
I read Lady Tan’s Circle of Women in April 2025. Our book club discussion will be held in June. Wanting to support my own thoughts for discussion, I enjoy reading these super summaries to further my understanding what I read. I especially appreciate the character analysis section.
It was good but I could take it or leave it. Some parts just seem outlandish to me, however, it is based on historical accounts of that time period, and people were outlandish.
