Biblical gratitude is at the core of what it means to trust God as we follow Him. It is the habit of turning our hearts and minds to notice God at work. True gratitude is a posture of surrender, of taking time in all circumstances to pay attention, remember, and praise God for who He is, what He has done, and what He continues to do. In this three-week study, we will read what Scripture has to say about giving thanks in all seasons -- in times of joy, sorrow, want, waiting, rest, and more.
She Reads Truth is a worldwide community of women who read God's Word together every day. Founded in 2012, She Reads Truth invites women of all ages to engage Scripture through curated daily reading plans, as well as online conversation led by a vibrant community of contributing writers. This community of “Women in the Word of God every day” represents a long list of cities and countries, a variety of backgrounds and traditions, and countless real-life stories. But there is a commonality that binds us: we believe God's Word is Truth. So we read. Every day we read a new passage together—working our way through books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the Church calendar. We engage with God's Word and with each other. And we keep coming back, on the hard days and the good days, because God and His Word never change, regardless of our circumstances.
I am so grateful for this study and the reminder to give thanks in all situations!! Being thankful is a choice that should not be determined by our circumstances. Is it easy to choose to be thankful during the difficult times in our lives? Absolutely not! I constantly remind my kids that there is always, always something to be thankful for or in, no matter what. Although, you might have to look a little harder to find it on some days. The amazing news is that God does not leave us during those hard times instead He is forever good and faithful and for that I am grateful!! May I daily strive to rejoice, pray and give thanks to God for what He has done for me.
"Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Finished after Thanksgiving, but oh well! It was so nice to have reminders of gratitude and providence for specific emotions/circumstances, especially when we're not in a time of year that is as focused on thankfulness. Such a joy for the busyness/dreariness of late January and early February!
I love the format of these books and how rooted in Scripture it all is. Thankful we can always continue to grow in gratitude and look more like Jesus every day as He led the way in this.
I really, really enjoyed this study book! It was nice to see the different ways thanksgiving is mentioned in the Bible and also to have a reminder of why giving thanks is important.
