Fantastic! So many intriguing twists and turns, that when I thought I had it figured out, I found I didn't after all! The ending was suspenseful; a tip-top mystery! Stella Donovan was a lovable heroine-she had smarts and used them, yet wasn't one of those that make you annoyed by their attitude of I-do-it-better. And the hero-*sigh. Perfect. :) Can't praise this book enough!

Before TV westerns, before radio westerns, there were book westerns! I got my copy of The Strange Case of Cavendish, a novel by Randall Parrish first published in 1918 from Project Gutenberg. After slogging through a couple of thick history books, I was ready for some good old easy reading storybooks. This did the job for me. Women are called girls and Native Americans and Mexicans are portrayed as bad hombres, not a big surprise given the age of the book.

A little twisty.

There were some curves in the text. There were evil intentions with a fake Mr Cavendish which it made a great read!
