Part of LibriVox Short Science Fiction Collection 005. Describes the quiet, comically quirky, quest of an eccentric, yet persistent, visiting composer seeking solitude and tranquillity. He’s so determined to find the elusive silence conducive to his creative process that he finds himself driven onto the shores a distant planet populated by wee alien doods. Tragically he finds frustration is the note struck most decisively as he attempts to rid himself of all distractions, a sentiment eventually echoed by the locals. Excellent and well funny.

This story reminds me of that particular roommate who not only has the worst taste in music, and not only insists in playing it at an ear-splitting volume, but

...when you gently suggest he could, maybe, lower the volume a little.....

....whines and cries loudly and pathetically about how unfair life is, and how unfair everybody is, and says: "All I want to do is listen to MY music!"

And then spends the next three months sulking and giving you the evil eye.
