Alex and Steph from Life is True Colors are touring the States with their band when they cross paths with another lost soul – the runway teen Lily… Lily has somehow taken on the painful memories of dozens of other people. Tensions rise as the three trace the origins of each memory – Steph’s past returns to haunt her present, and Alex, desperate to protect her, shoulders the burden of her grief. And in the depths of a dusty comic book shop, Alex will be forced to learn again how much the truth can hurt.
Zoe Thorogood is an English cartoonist. While studying video game art at university, Thorogood began working as a freelance comic book artist. She achieved notoriety with her graphic novels The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott (2020, Avery Hill Publishing) and It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth (2022, Image Comics).
Everything Zoe Thorogood touches is gold and this is no exception. After a strong first issue, this settles into the plot and we get to learn a lot about the mysterious Lily’s special powers. I enjoy the uniqueness here and how they are complimentary with Alex’ which seems to be leading towards questions of responsibility and manipulation. Which is really interesting because the idea of being able to erase painful memories or change emotion might seem like a helpful thing, but what is it taking from people in the long run (which I think is an excellent narrative example of how choices worked in the game, particularly with how Alex interacts with Charlotte or even Eleanor). The art is quite lovely as well: These are really fun and I can’t wait to see where it goes. There is also an incredible cameo right at the end that fans of the original game will really enjoy.

An amazing story to understand that although having magical powers to solve your problems quickly may seem like an amazing idea, we need to live the process of healing our own wounds to grow as people; not meaning that by doing this we can completely forget the things that caused us so much pain, but the lesson is to understand that this suffering is part of us, it forms our character and makes us complete as humans. Lily's character was perfectly introduced to teach this message and her relationship with Chenrich is adorable, the situations that happened between Alex and Steph were also the perfect mix of heartwarming and angsty, I love this couple so much🥹. Awesome comic, it should be read by all fans of Life is Strange 3!
I rate this 3.5 stars. This volume made more sense now with the context from the first volume, however there were still significant plot holes 🕳️ and gaps which had me wondering what was happening and if we were in a memory or not. It was hard to tell whether it was present tense or past tense. Still rather confusing in the beginning. I read the ebook that was 34 pages long.
It‘s a bit weird, that this is a completely different timeline with the first LiS game not happening but still LiS true colors taking place. I don’t know feels weird but I like them playing with this multiverse thing. Story is nice and I still love the art style like in the other LiS comics.
I’m really enjoying this storyline. The heart and souls of this series is the emotion that comes along with the story telling. It’s hitting all the marks.
