But what kingdom breathes between death and ever after?
Skies shatter, and air convulses.
Black feathers dance with ash against the whimper of stars.
His shadow smears over rays of moon and sun.
Echoes of his feral cries crept into the graves that must remain buried.
The Mothman is a monster.
A misguided myth.
With nowhere else to go.
The winged beast isn't welcome here.
Not when his chaos reeks vengeance for a world no longer loyal.
Wing to wing, wretched wounds leak; our little monster is starving to be tamed.
Or he will be.
A goddess would do anything to protect her realm, even if it costs her heaven.

A lyrical dark fantasy of a butterfly goddess and the monthman in a whirlwind story.
This is one of my favorite reads of the year. A butterfly goddess and the mothman the chaos that unfolds, will keep you hooked on every word. The writing is gorgeous! I enjoyed how everything unfolded and played out. Not only is there a compelling plotline, but we also get to learn about the world and the magic throughout the book in an entertaining way. There are many plot twists and turners that will make you want to keep reading. The ending! I need the next book, like now. I love Sorra and everything that has to do with the butterfly Goddess. It's one of the most interesting parts. I've never read about a butterfly goddess and it was neat. Not only her but this book is packed with magical creatures all of who are important. This book does have some dark and heavy scenes. So please look up content warnings if needed. The writing style of this story is more than beautiful. It's whimsical and magical. I highlighted and quoted so many lines and parts because they were just so pretty or powerful. You'll fly through this dark adult fantasy that will pull at your heartstrings.
Dark Eternity by Nimueh Virago is a captivating dark fantasy that weaves a spellbinding tale of a butterfly goddess and the Mothman. This book transports readers to a world of ethereal beauty and haunting darkness. The moment I began reading, I was captivated by the intricate world-building and the vivid characters. The story unfolds at a perfect pace, with each chapter revealing new layers of intrigue and danger. Sorra, the butterfly goddess, is a fascinating and complex character. Her journey is both heartbreaking and inspiring, as she grapples with her destiny and the forces that seek to destroy her. The Mothman, a creature of shadow and secrets, adds a touch of gothic horror to the story, making for a truly unforgettable pairing. Filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader guessing, the climactic ending is both satisfying and heart-wrenching. While the story does contain some darker themes, Virago handles them with sensitivity and skill. The beautiful and evocative language elevates the narrative, making it a truly magical reading experience. If you're a fan of dark fantasy, mythology, and captivating storytelling, Dark Eternity is a must-read. This is a book that will stay with you long after you've turned the final page.
-At first, I was really intrigued. The writing style was nice and magical but as the book evolved, I kind of lost interest. Not because the story wasn’t interesting, but because The writing style did not stick with me throughout the whole book. I also wouldn’t really follow the plot but from what I could get, there was a lot of potential for me to enjoy it more than I did. I really love so many elements of this book it just didn’t perfectly worked for me.
-I really liked the Mothman and the Butterfly Goddess. Those aspects were really intriguing. I also liked their individual characters as Sorra and Rowe. Additionally, I also enjoyed their dynamic. I still didn’t quite connect with them or anything that deep but I still liked them.
-The ending was, again, intriguing but I wasn’t completely gripped to the story itself so the ending wasn’t completely jaw dropping for me. There is still this side of me who is curious as to what happens next. Although, overall, I would need to reread and understand this book more before reading a sequel.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This book was a little difficult for me to stay interested in. I am the kind of reader too who will read and read until I finish no matter what. I am so confused. When I closed this book, I wasn't really sure what I had read and I really don't know if I will finish the series. I really hate to say this because I have just recently discovered after years of not reading a PNR story, that some of them I really liked. This one, not so much. This book is about Mothman and the Butterfly Goddess. This was the part that interested me the most to see how and what these characters were but like I said not so much for me and I am sorry for that. I hope that someone else really loved this book and maybe they can explain to me what I really am struggling to understand.
This is a hard review for me to leave - why? Because I am struggling with just what to say.
The writing is stunning! And by stunning I mean it is poetic and beautiful and flowing and absolutely refreshing! There are so many quotable parts and the descriptive poetry of the verse is just amazing. However, for many this will just be over the top and maybe too much.
I found that I was often lost in the plot and had to re-read several passages to try to figure it out. I don't enjoy having to re-read, mainly because my life is loud and busy so reading is an escape, a way to relax. This felt like working to stay up with the plot and for this reason I am giving it 3 stars.
But - and I will go back to this - the author has an amazing voice. I can't imagine what will come from them in the future as they continue to write.
Dark Eternity is a beautifully crafted dark fantasy that weaves together the haunting tale of a Butterfly Goddess and the enigmatic Mothman. Virago's whimsical writing style brings to life a world teetering on the edge of ethereal beauty and chilling darkness. This whirlwind story pulls you in with its lyrical prose, exploring themes of love, chaos, and redemption.
While the characters are compelling, some plot elements felt a bit rushed, leaving me wanting a deeper exploration of their motivations. However, the vivid imagery and emotional depth make it a captivating read for fans of mythical romance. Overall, this book is a delightful journey through a realm where love and destruction dance hand in hand.
Lovely breathtaking poetic writing. I found I had to read this at a perfect moment as I needed to concentrate due to the intricate wordings. I couldn't just pick it up amd read like most books. But having said that I loved it!
The mothman and the butterfly princess, a unique storyline, unlike anything I'd ever read. The twists and turns kept me eagerly gripped, the mystical creatures were beautiful all strong in there own ways. Some dark elements that may push the voundaries for some. All in all a good book, that some may find challenging due to the lyrical words. I look forward to reading the next book.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you Nimueh Virago and The Next Step PR for a free copy! All opinions are my own.
I would say that I struggle a lot while reading the book. The characters are interesting. When I read the trigger warnings, I am very skeptical. I read the book, and I have a feeling that it is making me uncomfortable. There are a lot of parts that I don't like and have a hard time to read. Overall, I do not enjoy the book much. However, you could be interested in reading it if you like things like this.
A very interesting and captivatingly written dark fantasy book that I simply couldn't put down. The worldbuilding is fantastically written and richly detailed, so that you can immerse yourself in the world very well. The characters are well developed and have good character development. I love the idea of the book and it was implemented fantastically, which is why I found this book intriguing.

This was such a unique and magical story. The writing is so easy to get into and get hooked on! There's some really good and in-depth world building. Some parts were hard to get through and highly emotional, but it made the story so much better!
Thanks so much to the author and booksirens for the ARC!
A mothman and a butterfly goddess are about to meet. Things are going to get very interesting between them and those all around them. You will get pulled into their tale and will leave you wanting so much more. See just where they will take you I received an advance copy from hidden gems and I loved where I was taken
this was a strong start to the Dark & Dire Duet series, it uses Mothman perfectly and enjoyed the overall concept perfectly. The characters worked well overall and had that feel that I was looking for. Numueh Virago has a strong writing style and am excited for more in this series and author.

Holy cow. Intense action packed suspenseful read. So many twists and turns. Was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Definitely recommend.
Thank you to Book Siren and The Orange 9 Publishing Company for an ARC of this book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Honestly, I really struggled to get through this book. The lyrical writing style was beautiful, but after a while it became difficult to stay engaged, and I often found myself going back a few pages to re-read because it was hard to understand what was happening.
The characters were interesting, but even after finishing the book I feel like I have to read it again to get a solid grasp on everything that happened.
If you love a lyrical poetic writing style, than this might be a really good book for you. Unfortunately it wasn't a good fit for me.
I am giving this book 3 starts because it is beautifully and poetically written, however it was a DNF for me. I had a really hard time staying focused on things and did get lost in some parts. Again the story is not bad it just wasn't for me. I would read some other works from this author I just was not hooked on this story.
Dark Eternity by Nimueh Virago is a whimsical tale that follows two main characters Sorra and Rowe. Sorra and Rowe have a troubled past and an even more complicated present.
If you enjoy fascinating worlds and poetically written stories, this dark romantasy is for you!
