Siphon: A Cayden March Thriller

Rate this book
A deadly cyber terror plot. A former operative who knows too much. Can he save the nation before he becomes the next victim? Cayden March has much less responsibility as a security guard than he did with Delta Force. But the former operative’s laid-back lifestyle is shattered when his friend is brutally murdered.

The police treat the crime as a run-of-the-mill murder, but March's military experience helps him uncover a terrifying truth; his friend fell to cold-blooded assassins.

March shakes off his rust to hunt the killers. But as the body count rises, he discovers the safety of the entire nation rests in his hands. Can March avenge his friend's death or will he end up collateral damage in a chilling terrorist plot?

Siphon is the first standalone book in the fast-paced Cayden March series of thrillers. If you like twisted high tech plots, wounded heroes, and dynamite action, then you'll love P.G. Kassel's page turning adventure.

About the author

P.G. Kassel is a former film and television writer-director turned novelist. He has always loved good stories and story telling. Suspense-thrillers, the supernatural and horror, romantic comedy, science fiction, westerns – he isn’t one to be fenced in by a genre label – he just enjoys telling a good story.

While attending film school at USC his focus was on directing. At the time a new director was more likely to get the opportunity to direct a feature film if they had written the screenplay. So, he began writing screenplays and teleplays, and wrote a shelf-full of them.

Phil always loved books and reading so it was only a matter of time before his enjoyment of writing screenplays began to transform into a desire to write a novel. The end result was Black Shadow Moon. He is currently writing the sequel to Black Shadow Moon and has four other novels in various stages of development.

A native Californian, Phil spent over 30 years working in the entertainment industry. In addition to writing his interests include songwriting, playing and recording music, still photography, and shooting cowboy firearms.

Phil is married to an amazing and beautiful woman who puts up with all his artistic moodiness. They make their home in Los Angeles, California.

The book starts with suspense around Alan Fenland, when he notices a strange man coming out of his office and running down the hall where he then notices another man running towards him, Alan noticed that one of the men running had a birthmark. At around 5:30 p.m. Alan's life is about to change, not for the better. A tall woman is at his door asking for help, the woman claims that her car is broken down. The woman's name is Cyn, and she has a partner named Danny, they work for the mob and was sent to Alan's place to see if he has the file, Cyn calls Alan name and that makes him kind of wonder who she is and if they have met before, but before Alan knows it Cyn is attacking him and asking questions that he has no answers to so she decides to kill him. Alan's friend Cayden March is a veteran who works security at the college that Alan worked, when he gets a call to check out a investigation by the police on campus. When he gets there, he notices that they are at his best friends' house, so he asks an office that he knew if he would give him any news about the crime. The officer tells him that there has been a murder and lets Cayden inside the apartment so he can identify the body of his best friend. Cayden is heartbroken and confused as, to who would do this to his friend, Cayden is now going to find out the reasons behind this mystery and the people who is involved.

It's just an average day at Caltech - until it isn't.

Cayden wanted a quiet job where he could recover from his Special Ops work. Seemed like security on campus would be it. Then really true evil invades his world. Special circumstances show linkage and Cayden knows there are problems, big problems. Unfortunately, it involves very close friends and blows up in his face.

This is an extremely action-packed story with almost no time to take a breath. Hand to hand combat in the home, in the shed, on the street, blades in a gun fight, car chases. What else could you want in a thriller that brings Cayden back to what he does best? Actually, you will find that in the story also. Take a breath, you're at the edge of your seat ready to fall off. Just enjoy the pacing and the people.

Can a piece of technology blow up the world?
Cayden March only wants to work his nice quiet job in security at a University when he is drawn into a life and death situation, when a student he knows is brutally murdered. Something he thought he left behind when he left the Military. The author weaves a complicated tale of Arms dealers, world ending computer software(virus like), and cold blooded assassin’s. If that’s not enough, one of the FBI agents investigating the murder is a traitor. The author skillfully, kinda points you in one direction as to the traitor’s identity, which he does not reveal until the very end.
Complicated intriguing novel. Very good read.

An action-packed ride through the tech savvy worlds of espionage. Cayden tried to retire from Delta Force peacefully as a security guard, but the world has other plans for him when his best friend is murdered. Cayden must stop the people that are killing his friends and find what is going on quickly. The action doesn't slow down, and the writing keeps you on the edge. Can't wait for Cayden's next adventure.
