Jawbreaker is an Enemies-to-Lovers New Adult Dark Romance.
A wise man once told me, “Every story has a journey, and every journey has a beginning.” Like all good stories, mine is about a girl. My first taste of love and happiness. My first sense of hate and misery. I was sent to a hellish place where even the best of days were shrouded in darkness. I barely made it out, crawling and clawing my way from that house of horrors. Now, eight years later, guess who strolls into my party— into my house —out of the blue? The girl . Journey Ward. I want to punish her. I want her to suffer the way I have. I want to hurt her. I want her to hurt with me. My name is Kelton Kincaid and this is my Journey . It begins with vengeance…

"Every story has a journey," and what a journey we get to take with Journey and Kelton. Welcome back, Cheryl McIntyre. We've missed your storytelling!
There are not many authors out there that deliver it all - main characters you love and hate, great supporting casts you are just as invested in, and stories that feel real, often with a little twist you never see coming. Jawbreaker has all the above, but WOW! Cannot say I've read anything like Jawbreaker.
I don't want to ruin anything for you, so I'll just say, this has all the feels we've come to expect from Cheryl...funny, heartbreaking, shocking...all leading to the HEA. Now I need Powers and Nash's stories!
I have loved everything Cheryl McIntyre has written, each book for its own unique reason Jawbreaker was no exception. This is so much more than an enemies to lovers story. The details are clever and original, the characters have depth and complicated emotions, and the plot is like nothing I've ever read in the best way. I can't give all the details that I loved about this book without spoiling the story just know that the creative plot lines and the twists and turns you won't see coming bring with it an ending so full of angst and raw emotion it will hit you in all the feels.
Kelton and Journey met when they were kids along with Kenny. They all became fast friends as well as first loves between Journey and Kelton. Kelton and Kennys childhood was filled with rules and beliefs from a very strict religious upbringing. Their father was a crooked pastor and raised his kids with all their sadistic beliefs. They were beaten and locked away if their behaviour wasn’t corrected. All that was ripped away when Journey decided one day to show up at Kelton’s home and confront the father about his horrible treatment of his kids. That was the last day she ever say Kelton and Kenny again. Or so she thought… This book has some tough subjects. Transgender, sexuality and violence are subjects encountered in this book. But presented in a positive light. Enjoy!
Took me a few days to gather my thoughts to properly rate it review.
There is ALOT going on in the book. My best description would be. Serious topics mixed in with a bully type romance with a side of crazy storyline you could never imagine.
Ok so the bully part was SPOT ON I love Kelton he kept me invested. Journey was super likable which helped with my love/hate relationship with Kelton.
Serious topics there is one I do not know much about and could potentially be a trigger for some. But it is relevant and should be talked about more openly so that we can educate ourselves
Overall this was a very well written book with a lot of twists and turns that kept me interested from beginning to end. I am already looking into this authors back list for my next read
Great surprise, i can not understand that this author is not more in the media , the book had me from the first page , read it in 2 days and only because i had to go to work. I wil keep my eyes open for a 2 book and all her previous books ,
I have loved everything that Cheryl has written. She is such an underrated author. The story was amazing and heartfelt. You felt their pain and joys. Thank you so much Cheryl.
