Rate this book
Protective alpha billionaire meets shy contemporary dancer in this spicy, slow-burn, billionaire who spoils, touch her and you perish, contemporary romance.

After my high school sweetheart up and leaves me one day without a single explanation, I vow never to let myself love another man. I’ve managed to keep that promise for the last four years—that is, until I inadvertently fall into the arms of New York City’s most eligible bachelor, and now my whole world is flipped upside down. Tom Wright is everything I don’t need in my life, but stars above, he’s everything I never knew I wanted. The man is intoxicating, and I can’t seem to resist the way he looks at me or the way his touch makes me feel alive again. But one dark secret could ruin everything, and I don’t know if I’m prepared to endure that kind of pain all over again. My life is pretty simple. I work hard and I party even harder. I own New York City’s most reputable real estate agency, catering to the filthy rich and notoriously famous. There’s no shortage of beautiful women willing to share my bed, though everyone knows I have one golden No commitments. Ever. But when Sara Hart unexpectedly falls into my life, something about her timid smile and gorgeous brown eyes makes me want to throw the damn rule book out the window. Every time she’s near, my blood spikes with a raging fire I can’t contain. So, when my shadowed past resurfaces, unearthing ghosts I’d rather remain buried, I’m forced to make a decision that may cost me the only woman I’ve ever truly loved. And that’s a price I’m not ready to pay.

This one is for the girls who still believe in modern fairytales and in a prince who not only spoils you rotten, but knows where to find the spot….

And I smiled. This is the opening to Falling for Mr Wright by Olivia Boothe. Does it make YOU smile?

I do not actively seek out contemporary romance novels, but when it is by a favorite author of mine, I will give it a go. Good writing is good writing and able to draw me into the book, as Olivia Boothe did with Falling For Mr Wright.

Sara works for the Rebecca Fitzgerald Dance Company. Why she isn’t a dancer herself, is a story I am not in a position to tell, but we all have baggage, don’t we? Her boss is a dragon, and I don’t mean the paranormal kind. She is mean, cruel. Everything about the workplace makes me want to tell her it’s time to move on.

When her favorite coffee shop is closed, she is forced to go the next closest one. There’s no way she can go to work without a coffee for her boss. That’s where Tom met Coffee Girl and he couldn’t get her out of his mind.

I definitely got the Pretty woman vibe. Vivian and Kit. Edward and Phillip. I loved their cat and mouse game, at times wondering who is the pursued and who is the pursuer. Their need to control their emotions had me smiling. We all know, the heart wants what the heart wants. Sure we have some baggage and guilt, and all that angst, but I believe love will win out.

Tom was so blindingly beautiful, my retinas stung.

“I’ll tell you what the problem is. Your hoo-ha has cobwebs.”

And that is what I mean by some great writing. I loved the description and dialogue.

Recommended for adults and you can get the list of warnings on her website. Also, Falling For Mr Wright was written under another title, Wicked Dance, I had never read it, so it wasn’t an issue for me. There will be two books in the series and seeing I enjoyed this one so much, I can hardly wait to get my hands on the next one. Hmmmm, I wonder what couple it will be.

Finally a romance book that had me invested! I have grown so jaded by the genre these last several years and find myself reading far fewer, mostly reading them as palate cleansers or just wanting something mindless and fluffy. Most romance is very formulaic and while some may be well written, they meld together in one misshapen heap of sameness in my mind. Very few of the stories stand out for me and even fewer are memorable. I take exception with Ms Olivia!

I had Wicked Dance in my TBR since it came out, but hadn't read it yet. I've been on a mission to clear up my huge TBR pile, and it was time I read it. I was about 14% into Wicked Dance when I messaged the author telling her how much I enjoyed it so far and to see if purchasing FFMW was worth the switch. She told me, YES, then graciously provided me with a copy (I add this for transparency, I have not been asked to review or been paid for my opinion, I give it freely). So of course I started over and loved it!

I think Olivia's strength lies in her character dev. While I'm not a fan of "insta-love", I found myself believing it in this case. Maybe because it wasn't "insta-love" per se, but a pull or drawing in of 2 people for inexplicable reasons. I could get behind how these 2 characters evolved. The intensity of the burgeoning relationship, thoughts and feelings are conveyed well and I could visualize all the gestures, movements and facial expressions with clarity. Intense clarity. THIS is what struck me while reading the story. I couldn't wait to get back to reading this each evening before bed. I also enjoyed the story itself. Both the Sara and Tom have their tragedies, issues and secrets that they need to get through in order to build a relationship. Stubborness, misunderstandings and omission of truths dot the story landscape. This isn't a new concept, but it felt a little more believable than simply a plot point to squeeze in. Simply put, I FELT the words on the page. I cannot articulate why, I am no grammar police, but I tend to read for feeling, not prose (well sometimes I do, I can appreciate a well structured pretty sentence or two ;p). That being said, the writing did flow well bc I found few stutters in my reading, and they were so minor.

Bottom line: I will read the next installment, gladly. I already purchased it before finishing this book. The author has said she liked Wicked Embrace even more than WD/FFMW. I can't wait to dig in. Thank you Olivia, for giving me a story above a sea of 2-3 star reads. I give this 4.5/5 stars, rounded up.

Secrets galore make up Sara and Tom’s story of two people burned badly by life and love. Their eyes meet and before you know it, Tom is obsessed with Sara and Sara is FALLING FOR MR WRIGHT.

I love the dancer/billionaire pairing but what makes this better is the tragedy each has experienced making them protect themselves from trusting each other. It’s a rocky road of jealousy, misunderstandings, and ghosts from the past.

It ends with a cliffhanger although they are happy at that point. Who knows what will happen when the other shoe drops in Wicked Embrace?

Wow this was everything that was promised. This book destroyed me. I didn't know this book was first published as Wicked Dance many years ago. How did I never hear about this book or this author? OMG. Go back and read the reviews for Wicked Dance and you will see what Im talking about. Im so bummed i never found this book before. The emotional rollercoaster, the tension, the HEAT. Tom and Sara feel so real I lived through their story. Both are broken souls in need of healing. I was cheering for them the whole time. Sara at times reminded me of me when I was that age, young and sometimes naive or foolish. We all make mistakes in our youth and we all make dumb decisions when it comes to love and relationships. What i liked about this book is that it showed the ugly parts of a relationship. No one is perfect. No one knows exactly what to say during an argument. Everyone think they know what they would do in a certain situation, until they are in that situation. when someone is in love or lust or whatever, they are blinded by it and that's when emotions get the best of us and I think that's what I loved about this book. Sara and Tom have flaws like the rest of us and they are not immune to making mistakes. I also loved Mr. Wright. He ticks off so many boxes even with his flaws. He's just perfect for Sara. The men in her life have let her down but Tom swoops in to protect her and to keep her safe to make her feel loved and treasured. I don't know. this book just touched my soul and i can't stop thinking about these characters. This is a HFN and ends on a tiny cliffy but book 2 is already out. I can’t wait to read Wicked Embrace. Tom and Sara need their HEA. Highly recommend for people who love passionate romance with spicy scenes and a good plot.

I found Sara, the female lead in this story a bit hard to take. Her constant indecision about starting a relationship with Tom at the start and her refusal to share her feelings, even when he basically handed her his heart, all had me tearing out my hair in frustration! Although Tom was equally hot and cold at the start, once he committed, there was no holding back. Sara’s reluctance to tell him everything about her history was understandable to a point, but once Tom shared some of his painful past, it was the perfect opportunity to do the same. Instead, she chose to put it off, which ultimately blew up in her face. Although I recognized she’d been hurt before, there comes a time in any relationship when you simply have to take the risk. Sara’s BFF, Jen, was an absolute treasure, though the same could not be said for Tom’s friend, Jake, who almost seemed to hate Tom at times. Unfortunately, I missed the fact that this was a duet, so while there was a HFN ending (of sorts), there will undoubtedly be a few surprises for these two in the coming book.

– Super cute encounter + hot and sweet tension!

I feel like the back-to-back defensive comments between both of them made me frustrated. And, it felt like the problems kept getting prolonged. They need to have a calm conversation with each other, I feel like. I did feel like the ending was rushed and unclear, but apparently, this book will have a sequel, so I’m looking forward to their happy ending then.

Highly recommended for those who love a possessive male character and a passionate love story.

An endearing read filled with angst and heartbreaking emotions. A love at first sight for both Tom and Sara.
Memories of the past affect their relationship and the reader just wants to make that all go away.
A refreshing look at life as everything is not rosy as shown in this story.
I am looking forward to the sequel, hoping for the elusive HEA

The characters of Tom and Sara are witty and demanding both locked in memories of the past that haunt their relationship throughout the book. The book was about 100 pages to long, but well written some of the plot could have been condensed but overall the plot and drama will keep the reader interested

This was a love at first sight romance that made me think of save the last dance with more trauma and less dancing. The characters were relatable in their feelings and dealing with situations and you can't help but love them. Overall, I enjoyed this story and can't wait to find out what happens next!

I loved this enjoyable, entertaining, and engaging second-chance romance with drama, danger, betrayal, secrets, and very good characters. The MCs are defined, have issues, and have great chemistry. After all the secrets are unraveled, there is a chance at a HEA.

Falling for Mr. Wright is an emotional roller coaster. Sara and Tom are both emotionally damaged from their pasts. Both are afraid to face their demons but when they do, they realize having each other can be their greatest salvation. I cried, I laughed and I wanted to smack each of them.

This is a love at first sight story, with 2 flawed characters tormented by youthful mistakes.
I liked the second half better, it is well written and moving, the plot thickens and the dialogue becomes stronger.

Overall, 3.5 stars.

Didn’t realize this was a duet when I started. Not invested enough to read book 2. The FMC kept rubbing me to wrong way. Definitely can’t commit to a 2nd book.
