Mini manga review has another sweet romantic comedy. I loved this story a lot. The characters are interesting and a lot of fun to read about. Especially Tomoya, sometimes I really wished he were real. He was just a perfect sweet boyfriend.

I really wish I could find similar manga to Rena’s works. What I saw, it was cuteness in every aspect. I believe Yagami sensei’s other works are going to be like that I’ll read them sometime soon and if I like them I’ll cover them here.

The final chapter was awesome, when I saw that small kid I fell in love with him. He’s absolute cuteness, but well he’s Romoya’s and Rena’s kid. I hope you’ll find some time to read this sweet story. I’m going out there to also fall in love like a comic. You don’t? enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thought below! Stay tuned for more at Katie’s Corner and don’t miss your next favouirtie book or manga! Happy reading!

XOXO

The "story" continues from the first volume: Rena and Tomoya are now dating. What situations await our heroine?

If you said, "the same situations from the first volume again (ie. Rena feeling threatened and getting jealous)," you'd be right.

The plot beats are as follows:
- Rena and Tomoya go on vacation. Rena wants to FUCK be intimate and is upset when Tomoya rebuffs her. Tomoya however is a very chaste hero and wants to wait. Tension is resolved immediately with kisses.
- Tomoya has to look after a small child, who has a precocious crush on Tomoya. Rena becomes threatened and jealous of the small child. Tension is resolved with kisses.
- Rena gets a tutor. The tutor turns out to be Tomoya's ex-girlfriend. Rena is immediately threatened and jealous of the older woman. Tension is resolved with kisses a fucking full on mock-wedding.

Finishes up with an after-story of Rena/Tomoya's child at a Parent-Day at school (omgee, they grew up to be successful and hot, who'd've thought), and a bonus story of some kids with... puppets, doing a play...? I don't know, my brain glazed over.

★☆☆☆☆ 1/5. Fall in Love like a Pile of Dogshit.

This gets points for being nostalgic.
Honestly? Rena overreacts to almost everything.
The art style is fine; Rena's eyes take up half her face, and Tomoya is handsome in that 2000s manga male lead way.
Their relationship seems healthy, and I like that Tomoya isn't afraid to set boundaries with Rena. I do wish Rena asked before assuming and thought before reacting sometimes, but if you're in the moment, you're in the moment🤷🏻‍♀️. Also, the whole 'I'm melting' thing got old fast.
It's cute that they end up together in the future.

Dikomik ini aku jatuh cinta banget sih sama after story nya. Waktu mereka udah punya anak. Ini bagian favorite aku di sepanjang seri ini.

I didn't like it as much as the 1st volume. Rena would constantly get jealous in each chapter. I didn't think they worked through it very well either. It was still silly like the 1st volume though.

It's ok. It's definitley cute and my students will like the story. I may keep it in my classroom because it has tips in the back for how to make your own manga.

APART OF THE GOODREADS 2012 READING CHALLENGE.

Review/Rating:

4 out of 5

More like a collection of stories than a general volume. :)

Heartthrob Vacation
A Small Crush
Happy Ending
Hiroki’s Secret
Nana and Mickey’s Heart-Racing Manga Lesson
Bewildered Princess

Ease of Reading Text: 5 out of 5
Art Touch-Up: 4 out of 5
Translation: 5 out of 5
Design: 5 out of 5

Heartthrob Vacation

Illustrations: 5 out of 5
Plot: 5 out of 5

Rena and Tomoya finally confess their true feelings for each other and now they face a new challenge — an overnight trip! Rena wants to “further” their relationship, but what will Tomoya have to say about it?

The artwork still looks pretty cute; and I still love Tomoya’s designs. :D Though, his shoujo manga boy personality is kind of annoying, but I like his dominant side. xD And Rena remind me of myself (the love of smut, not the melting). :P Also the romance scenes are so adorable — made me feel as gushy inside. >.< Please note: This chapter talks about “first times” and sex, but no sexual acts happen (unless you count kissing).

Overall, it is pretty cliche for a shoujo manga, but I still found it pretty cute. :D

A Small Crush

Illustrations: 5 out of 5
Plot: 5 out of 5

Shiori, a relative of Tomoya’s, will be staying with Tomoya for awhile. However, even though Shiori is just a child, Rena still gets jealous. Will they be able to spend time together without Shiori getting in the way?

The drawings still look pretty, so no issues there for me. However, I love how the manga-ka drew Shiori — she looks so adorable. :D This story is also pretty typical in shoujo manga, but I find it funny how Rena tries to compete with Shiori. Also, the expressions while they interact with each other are just as funny. It also still has yummy kiss scenes.

Overall, it is a sweet story about jealously, but still shoujo cliche. ;)

Happy Ending

Illustrations: 5 out of 5
Plot: 3 out of 5

Concerned for her grades, Rena’s mom hires a tutor for Rena. When Keiko shows up, it appears that she knows Tomoya. Why does Rena’s tutor know Tomoya?

Awww… Come on, you have to know how this ends up without too much detail, right? Tomoya’s ex equals Rena getting jealous (again). Then you know they have to do something for them to get back together again, right? Like I said, predictable and cliche. Oh, the art is still pretty. ;)

Overall, I didn’t really like the story because it is basically the same as the other one.

Hiroki’s Secret

Illustrations: 5 out of 5
Plot: 3 out of 5

At Parent’s Day, Hiroki thinks his parents won’t be able to make it. However, will he be in for a surprise?

Drawings are still pretty good, and Hiroki is very adorable. Predictable, very. So I won’t go into that many details. It is attached to Tomoya’s and Rena’s stories though. :| However, there is one thing I didn’t expect — for that one couple that formed.

Overall, like almost all shoujo manga, it was pretty easy to know what would happen. :S

Nana and Mickey’s Heart-Racing Manga Lesson

Illustrations: 5 out of 5
Plot: 5 out of 5

Mickey teaches Nana how to become a manga-ka.

The drawings are very well done and helpful. Basically they were very short, sort of helpful, and cute tutorials. It was pretty interesting to read.

Bewildered Princess

Illustrations: 4 out of 5
Plot: 2 out of 5

Saki is very shy, but when she talks with puppets, she is able to talk normally. Takumi, the guy she has a crush on, is in a puppet show with her. However, how will she confess her love?

Art was all right, not as good as the other stories. Also, the plot was very meh, so were the personalities. However, I do like how creative the confession was.

Overall, this story was pretty average and not as interesting. >.<

For VIZ’s part, the stroke around some of the text was too big, so I couldn’t tell whether or not the touch up was done well or not. Also, the text placement was kind of bad. All of the other things (translation, etc) looked okay. :D

My feelings are pretty similar to the 1st one, but now that I knew what to expect, I didn't have very high expectations. On the other hand, some of the plot elements were similar to the first one. Misunderstandings and other women in the picture that aren't actually interested in the guy character.

Fall in Love Like a Comic!, Vol. 2
by Chitose Yagami

So i finally read the second one and i am sad that this was the end i didn't know it was the end till i read it but i was very worried about it being last because a third book did not come out.But i love how the author had the story definitely got thin to the mind of a young girl, and it shows how Innocent Rena is but that she is willing to step up for him because she was lucky to have him but he thought he was lucky to have her treats her well and doesn't want to force anything on her.And of course there had to be drama and i liked how they had drama.

Also i really liked how they author explained her thinking like why she decided to make the people who try to take tomoya away from her aren't evil or mean, they all just like tomoya but they are nice and just had something they really wanted on the inside whether it was their someone they missed or something to help their old friend. And i love how the author decided to show even after what happens that is what i always wonder and it was awesome because it included everyone that they needed to and showed the future of what happens and how they changed. Also i loved how they author made rena so funny and tomoya funny but also so perfect with her.The last part of the book cracked me up but right before it was so cute and i love that it makes you feel like that heart hitting moment.

Not a surprise but i think 5th grades would feel the same about this book if they were mature enough and teenagers defiantly like it and would want what Rena has because it was such a thing girls think oh and by the way, i'd recommend it to girls guys i'm not sure how much they would get out of reading this except some tips to be like tomoya. If you read the first book you Have to read the second it is just great to follow up it might even make you want to reread the first becausethe second is a perfet match to the first just like rena and tomoya hehehee:)

Since Fall In Love Like a Comic was only two volumes long I decided that I review them together instead of individually. Fall In Love Like a Comic was so good that it has now become one of my favorites.

What made it such a great read for me was that everything was tied up so neatly at the end with absolutely nothing left unfinished.

As I read more manga books I find that I am drawn more to the lighter shojo-ish ones...like Fall In Love Like a Comic. This manga was funny and even kind of sweet, especially at the end.

Usually I get very irritated when the female MC gets all mushy over a guy (I find boring and an original) and does stupid things, like think that he's cheating on her, but Rena's antics didn't really bother me at all in this book. Why, because that's just the way the character was meant to be, plus it was totally funny (especially since it just made me laugh).

Best part of Fall In Love Like a Comic, um, that would most definitely have to be the chemistry between Rena and Tomoya. They were just such an odd couple, but oh so cute together.

While I loved it, I do have one thing that I didn't like about this manga, or to be more precise made me a bit uncomfortable. Well that would have to be the type of manga that Rena the MC drew (kind of glad there weren't any samples of her manga. They probably would have scared me from being to risqué).

Final Verdict: Fall In Love Like a Comic was well worth my time, and I'm hoping I can find it somewhere so that I can own it (especially since it's only two volumes long). While it had a couple of mature elements (nothing too much worse then what's found in YA these days), I'd definitely recommend it to older teens.

Fall In Love Like a Comic volumes 1-2 earns 5 out of 5 pineapples.

Wow. This was one weird manga. The setting is the modern day Japanese high school. The basic premise is that the female main character, Rena Sakura, is a rookie mangaka of shojo comics, notably slightly risque manga. However, she has no romantic experience. Did I also mention that she's trying to keep her manga career secret? Yeah. Anyway, the main male character, Tomoya Okita, finds out about her career. He insinuates himself into her life, saying he'll be her model for romance, which she can then incorporate into her manga. So far, an okay shojo plot premise.

However, Tomoya creeped me out. He's basically the author's perfect idea of a man, but his actions are disturbing. For example, he sets up a fake/preview wedding between himself and Rena. The attendees include a few of their friends. The couple is decked out in full wedding regalia (frilly dress, tux, etc.) Now, take a moment and remember that they're in high school. Plus, he has an ex-girlfriend help with altering the wedding dress. Weird enough for you yet?

There are other random (and odd) situations, but overall, a very flat manga. Not recommended.

Ok I loved it at first because it was sweet and romantic, but now it's just childish. I mean I get it its a manga, but really you one day are a MIDDLE school student then you one day want to further your relationship by having sex.( At least they didn't show anything!). But really it's really cute, sweet, and a little romantic but pretty silly. I LOVE it but I really HATE it! But love and hate at the same time. It just didn't seem like how it would have wanted it. They did fall in love with each other , but in a weird way. They get married , have a kid, and get famous. It just seems weird. She only knew him in the 1st book for like a couple minutes and her heart beat would race throughout the roof. Pretty crazy.

Much like taking a dose of ipecac, sometimes you just have to let the torture run its complete course to get it out of your system. The bonus story in this was its only redeeming quality. No, not the pre-wedding wedding (which had me actually gagging, sure it should have been sweet, but all I saw was bad luck and velveta cheese), but the family scene. It was adorable, and he grew into his face. haha!

Okay, maybe the real reason for me ripping into this series so hard was that I found it unrealistic and contrived. That should mean something as I suspend much of actual reality and place manga into its own. haha. For what it was, it got it done. I guess that's all I can ask for.

Ugh. I only read this second one because there were only two in the series and it wasn't worth fighting my OCD over. It was just as bad as the first. Difficult to read, with an impossibly saccharine sweet and rushed storyline. I love Shojo as much as the next person, but I couldn't suspend my disbelief and found it difficult to even get into the "plot", for lack of a better word. The panels were jumbled and sometimes difficult to read and/or follow. (Although, I must admit that it might be the fault of my e-reader.) It kind of reminded me of bad stop-motion photography with the explanatory parts all cut out. Not impressed at all.

3.5 solely for the little extra story added on at the end. With Hiroki. (*˙︶˙*)☆*°

Rena, the protagonist, still jumps to all sorts of conclusions for the worst because of her lack of relationship experience. It makes the story way too rushed and the little relationship she has seem so faulty. Tomoya on one hand likes her a bit too much and too soon while shes all questions. (・_・)

It's cute but still as rushed as it was when I first read it. Lol but all is forgiven because it's not for a younger audience to begin with (*´∇`*)

This is a review for the overall series...
THREE STARS!

The series was entertaining while it lasted and a good time waster. Though, the concept was done before which made me hope it had something in it to make it stand out. The characters were average and the setting was too. Nothing really special. So therefore, I give it three stars.

That's all...

Anyone notice that the following story characters looks somewhat as Card-captor Sakura characters? Especially the protagonist! Anyways, this deserves a solid 2 rating. It matured (somewhat) giving it a bit more depth. Predictable? Yes. But I think it was just written for fun. I liked the ending though. It satisfied me compared to the recent mangas I've read.

Fall in Love Like a Comic! Vol. 2 was definitely better than the Vol. 1. It was still funny and cute, but there was more sweetness to it. I really liked it.
The last chapter was so sweet, and Hiroki's story was adorable!

I really enjoyed this series. The way the main girl melts still makes me laugh. I did enjoy how the last chapters covers how they are doing when they are older. This was a fun read and it is only 2 volumes a recommend reading it if you want to laugh.

You would think that after loving the first one so much, I'd feel at least close to the same about the second. I just couldn't get past the ending. I guess it's cultural, but it just didn't make a lick of sense and I didn't care for the guy's behavior.

This is such a cute series ^^ It is pretty anticlimactic since it's a short romance with no struggle, but it's adorable to blow off fangirl steam if someone just wants to squeal and giggle a little. Sigh.

The author clearly aims for the readers to feel the love and cuteness of this manga but sadly, I did not feel it. Right, it is cute but I never did sense romance at all. No love chillin' and all. I am not benumb by any means, and I am sure about that.
