A Nine Angels Story based on a short story, The Librarian.

44 Brick St is a house with a terrible past built on the site of a plague pit. In the 1600s a woman accused of being a witch was tortured to death just yards away. In 1973 work on building a school uncovered 5631 coffins piled 16 deep in a 40meter square. The coffins were unnamed and the mass grave unmarked. Strange happenings and violent murders have been recorded there for centuries and paranormal investigators are frequent visitors. I was given the opportunity to research some books on the occult, which mention the area and I jumped at the chance. I should have known, it was a trap. This is the story of what I found.. .

This is an exciting and hauntingly creepy story! This book is dark and intense! Strange things are happening at 44 Brick St!
This is my first book from this author and he has a great writing style!

I was really confused by this book. I was really interested in the story that was going along when it suddenly switched over from a third person story to a first person narrative that seemed like the author's "research" into the story. It was a very abrupt switch, and I was left wanting much more of the story of the investigation of the events at 44 Brick St. and the librarian. I did listen to the audiobook, so maybe there is something in the written version that makes it more apparent what is going on, but it confused me. I thought each section was interesting, but the way they were put together didn't flow well. Also, in the first person narration portion the topic of seances and debunking mediums was discussed. Houdini came up in that chapter, but was mentioned as Barry Houdini not Harry Houdini. I'm not sure if it was a mistake on the narrator's part or if that's how it was actually written. Even though I had some struggles with the book I thought the overall plot was interesting, so I'd be willing to try another book by this author.

This book definitely had some creepy moments! What happens when you have a house built over a plague pit, then mix in a cult/coven wanting to raise a demon? Add in human sacrifice, a dangerous occult book covered with human skin and a few unsavory characters and you have this tale.

I will admit that I would have liked to know more about the current events at the house. Also, halfway through the book, the direction changed and I was confused about what was happening. I'm not sure if there is a tie-in with other books that would have explained this quick switch or not. The narrator did a good job and her performance added a lot to the book.

A Series of Horrific Tales

If you love Horror with gore and goosebumps galore, this little gem is for you!
I stupidly started reading this book when I was alone at home. And then I was torn between 'I have to carry on' and 'I don't dare to read it alone'.
Well ... Eventually I pulled my big girl knickers up and faced the grim music.
Like most Conrad Jones books, this one doesn't hold back with grime and gore. Sugarcoating is not in this author's vocabulary. And that makes for great reading!
... That scene with the flies!!! 😱

Blimey! So much evil packed into one little book! Very dark and disturbing. Shocking and fascinating in equal measures. Not my usual genre but a small dose of horror now and again suits me fine. It pulled me in and wouldn't let go, read it it one sitting. Incredibly entertaining and well written. Bravo Conrad Jones.

As much as I enjoyed the darkness of this story, the sudden switch halfway through the book really confused me. So much so that I thought it was an error on my kindle.
I did carry on and found it interesting, but I’m left confused as to whether the second half was actually “research” by the author, or just part continuation of the original part of the story.

Is the house haunted? Is it a cult following? Is this real life? I wanted to research a bit, but was almost afraid to see what was real or not! A lot of things happen in the area of 44 Brick Street. I enjoyed reading this, I only wish I knew more about the realtor situation and what came of Barry?

I really enjoyed the book. Kind of want to read more about the “Librarian” and his knowledge about the occult.

It was short but it leaves you wanting more. I did get a bit confused with the jump to the First Person POV but aside from that, great story! Definitely enjoyed it!
