Kiyoshi Nagai (永井潔 Nagai Kiyoshi, born September 6, 1945 in Wajima, Ishikawa), better known by the penname Gō Nagai (永井 豪 Nagai Gō?), is a Japanese manga artist and a prolific author of science fiction, fantasy, horror and erotica. He made his professional debut in 1967 with Meakashi Polikichi, but is best known for creating Cutie Honey, Devilman, and Mazinger Z in the 1970s. In 2005, he became a Character Design professor at the Osaka University of Arts. Since 2009, he is a member of Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize's nominating committee.

This series has regressed into the old pattern of devilbeast cases that sometimes feel like fillers. I'm sure this is most likely just a buildup for what had been partially revealed with the incoming unknown group. I was also disappointed in Akira's new Halloween costume.

Update 4/1/2019: Having skimmed over it, I forgot how I enjoyed the entrance of the unknown group and Suzuki's death and encirclement by the H.A. soldiers and Jun. I also enjoyed the recurring theme of scattered body parts since Jun was depicted as having been cut into pieces. However, I did not enjoy the long hypnotization scenes with Suzuki and her battles with Jun.

Three stars to two stars. The hypnotizing and battle scenes take up too much of the volume, which lower the volume's rating to two stars.

Update
With the adoption of my new rating system, a two star rating is befitting. The original review and rating updates conform to the new rating system. I have looked through my "Devilman Lady Abridged" folder to remind myself of this volume's content. The main reason behind leaving this volume at a two star-rating is explained in the rating update from May 28, 2019. In my "Goodreads Books" excel worksheet, I had written to change the rating back to a three star-rating, but I don't understand why.
