Tales of Howloween is a collection of 9 short stories from various authors that range from no spice to spice. My spice rating for these books may be the same as some of the stories or may have a lower spice or no spice at all rating based on what the story was said to contain. If it does not contain a pepper next to its rating, I found it to have no spice even if the story was said to contain it. My ratings are based on spicy in an intimate or desire setting not on adult themes like flashing of skin or anything of the like. The specific theme that ties these stories together is they all have a werewolf in them.
My rating for this book is going to be based on all the ratings of each story combined to get the average. I personally found there to be some true hidden gems in this collection as well as some stories I may not have vibed with. A great thing about being a reader is you CAN have different feelings in regard to the content you consume and that’s such a great and wonderful feeling. My overall rating for this book is: 4⭐
Bloodstone by D.C. Gomez - 3⭐ The first installment of the 9 short stories was a cute quirky read. I definitely said Bartholomew instead of Bob anytime the name came up because I don’t know why but just reading Bob didn’t hit my brain as good as his full name. The idea was a super interesting concept.
Werewolf Football Players by Arla Jones - 2⭐ The blurb concept sounded good right but actually reading the story I ended up flabbergasted. I think perhaps if the football players had been college football players turning to substance it would have hit better but the idea of this being teenagers just was not it for me. I don’t know with how these characters behaved and talked, how they could find someone that trusted them enough. The story telling started off good with talking about how the mess started but once we switched to the players it got messy for me. The ending lacked a lot for me as well, felt like a lot happened but not much to go on.
For Shuck’s Sake by Julie L. Kramer – 5⭐ This was a really great story. It ends on a cliffhanger because it is a prologue to something bigger that I will most definitely be reading. The writing in this story was really gripping and it definitely left me itching to continue the adventure.
A Red Moon Rises by River Seabrook – 3.5 ⭐ I really enjoyed a lot of the descriptors in this story, but I did find myself not liking how the story was flowing whenever a word was shortened and the back and forth of the story did start to throw me off. I also found there to be a bit too many nicknames thrown around with this being a short story. Since we’re meant to have a beginning and an end in a shorter length adding in a lot of excessive details can really takeaway. It’s also described as have a little spice; I wouldn’t classify it as spice per say but just brief adult themes. The ending I thought was a really great conclusion and I loved what Milo gave Cait in the end even if the reality of what happened is morbid.
Celestial Rescue by Charlene Pender – 4.5⭐ 2🌶️ This was such a fun read. I definitely snorted so hard for the bringing up of the appendage. I don’t know what I was expecting but definitely not that, a welcomed surprise. I am not sure if I was supposed to be giggling for this book but I most definitely was.
The Midnight Pack by Kristy Perkins - 5⭐ 1🌶️ Immediately yes to the blurb for this one so I just HAD to read it. The author is so good with describing everything in this story and I was so excited to find out this one had quite a few chapters to this story. Because it’s another one where you just really wanted more.
White Falls Haunt by S.R. Griffith - 3⭐ 1🌶️ This is a fated mates story that literally just jumps right into it, but it felt more like forced into a situation. When I think of fated mates I think, instant deep connection that destiny has kind of carved out for you. Like you don’t necessarily know why you have these unexplainable feelings for someone. This felt more like the male in the story imprinted on her saying with pretense that its destiny putting them together. It felt toxic masking as love so I didn’t enjoy it too much.
Fated Forest by J.D. Magnetra - 5⭐ 3🌶️ This is exactly what I look for with fated mates/enemies to lovers vibes. It doesn’t have the toxic this is clearly the wrong man for me vibes. It’s I am sworn to a duty but I am still treating you as if you are a person. I am a huge fan of J.D.’s writing!
Moonlit Desires by Lara Schofield - 5⭐ 4🌶️ Talk about how to tell a story! Like such beautiful detail in this story. I loved Emma and Ethan and the idea of being together over multiple lifetimes. All the Yesses!
I recieved an arc with all the short stories inside. Thank you to all the authors and sharing their short stories!
I had the opportunity to be an ARC Reviewer and read 7/9 stories from this book.
1. Moonlit Desires- Laura Schofield This romantic fated mate short story had me wanting more. With the level of detail the author gave us and the spice. Chef’s Kiss!
2. White Falls Haunt- S.R. Griffith Short prequel to the White Wolf Pack. Short but Spicy! I loved that Abby didn’t just automatically accept that she was Vince’s mate. He must earn it. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
3. Celestial Rescue- Charlene Pender This story was a little different, but not necessarily in a bad way. Aliens! Shifters and Aliens! A must read.
4. The Midnight Pack- Kristy Perkins Prequel to A Legacy in the Shadows. Avalon is basically tossed into a new world and has no idea what she is doing, but hey that’s life. Can’t wait to see where the journey takes us.
5. The Wolves- The Werewolf Football Players- Arla Jones A bunch of teenage boys who takes pills that turns them into werewolves. Oh what could go wrong. Then they have to deal with the consequences.
6. Forest Fated- J.D. Magnetra Fated Mates, action, adventure, and a little hint of spice. Very well written.
7. Bloodstone- D.C. Gomez Emma stumbles into a supernatural realm. The forces in this realm are after her because of her bloodline. The level of spice was amazing. Very well written.

Great collection of 9 short stories centered around werewolves. Stories vary in level of spice from zero to 🥵🥵, so there is bound to be at least one story in here for everyone ( although they are all brilliant!)
I'll try to come back at some point with a more detailed review for the various stories. But don't wait for me, grab your own copy today, and enjoy it.
I loved and are really impressed by this collection of Halloween werewolf/wolf shifter short stories. They made the perfect read for the season and you can find a little bit different types when it comes to tropes, spice level and story type. This is perfect for a mood reader like me.
I hope to read more from these authors and to continue on these amazing characters and worlds in one way or another. Some of this stories will continue and are for example prequels for book series. I’m also looking forward to read the next book of stories to get me in the Christmas spirit for the holiday. Thank you to all the authors for the ARC, I’m so grateful to you all!
The spice level was already given by the authors own system, but I do agree with them. All levels is represented except maximum/erotic. My rating and review of each story:
Bloodstone by DC Gomez. Spice : non romantic Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ /5 I love both fantasy and mythology so that was really good to see a Halloween story with both of them. I didn’t fully understand the world or it’s system, but the characters and humour was really fun and they made me laugh several times. The perfect story for readers that would like a fun urban fantasy with a somewhat dark humour at times.
The Wolves - Werewolf Football Players by Arla Jones. Spice: Non romantic Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 I haven’t read a lot of horror or school stories before, but now I’m excited to pick up some more because this was a really fun time. I loved the storytelling, characters and their team. I would love to know more about what happens and to see how the different characters cope with their new identity in different ways. Very fun paranormal horror school story with found family, but it ended very sudden so I hope to eventually get a follow up book. Half of the horror for me is definitely not knowing if it will ever come😅
For Shuck’s Sake by Julie L. Kramer. Spice: non romantic Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 A cute small town story with a fun new magical beast I haven’t heard of before so that’s fun. It was really short so I don’t really know too much of the main characters I think except it’s a found family trope, but it did have me intrigued to read more. The magical system seams really fun and I would love for it to become a romance with maybe some spice🤞🏼😏
A Red Moon Rises by River Seabrook. Spice: 🌶️/5 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Really cute dystopian and urban mythology, sci-fi story that is so unique and creative with the world. It brings so much to the table with nature vs humanity, frenemies to Lovers and grumpy vs sunshine. Cait and Milo are immortal spirits that’s natural enemies, but have feelings for each other that they won’t admit. It’s a good old fashioned love story, but in a different world and with a cat shifter. It’s really cute, but Imaybe a bit too cute for me in a way too.
Celestial Rescue by Charlene Pender. Spice: 🌶️🌶️/5 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 This was both very failiar to me since I love fated mates and forced proximity, but I have never read an sci-Fi alien story before so I was both curious and sceptical. I was a bit confused about the the backstory and what planet they crashed on at first, but it was sorted out at some point. I really liked the main couple and hope to read more of them and to see what happens when their whole worlds collide a bit more.
The Midnight Pack by Kristy Perkins. Spice: 🌶️🌶️/5 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 It took me a bit more time to get into it, but I really ended up liking this paranormal romance a lot. I love fated mates and found family so that was amazing, but most of all I’m really intrigued to read more about the characters, main couple cute romance story and I want to see the rivalry with the other pack. It very character driven and tugging at your humanity which I love when a story are able too do. This is a prequel to Legacy in the Shadows trilogy so now I have to add that to my TBR because this was a good start.
White Falls Haunt by S.R. Griffith. Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 I really loved this paranormal romance. Fated mates, forbidden love and rejected mates really made this a fun story filled with exciting banter and humour. The world and magic system is really unique and seems like it has a lot to it that I want to explore. I’m begging for more of this and luckily this is a prequel to a 3 book series that even can be extend at some point.
Forest Fated by J. D. Magnetra (Jamie Dalton). Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I loved this high romantasy story and it was anticipated with tropes like found family, fated mates, enemies to lovers and forced proximity. I found this to be a very good written and well rounded story that captivated me right away. I love Cassius and Ariella separately and together. The spicy scenes is on point👌🏼🔥 Storyline is very good. This felt like a whole book and not like short story and I loved that it could stand on its own, but also feels complexed enough for to be expanded to more books at some point. I really hope to get more and if not I’m now going to add a lot of this author to my TBR!
Moonlit Desires by Laura Schofield. Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I love spicy books and this had some good spice, especially for being a short story and it didn’t feel weird or rushed. The magic system and the small town feel is good, but I needed and wish I could get a bit more of it in between other scenes. I loved the couple and do like that it was more character driven. They tropes was a nice blend of fated mates, found family, past lives and her coming into her powers. The last one was a part of the story, but for me it fell flat and the main focus was on their connection, banter and spicy scenes, and that was very well done!
This book is a set if 9 novellas. I received 5 as ARCs to review.
Bloodstone: 5/5 Okay, I need a full sitcom of Bart and Bob. The whole gang was comedic in their own ways. I'm usually a romance girly and this book had zero of that and I loved it. It's an action packed, easy read!
White Falls Haunt: 4/5 This was a fun read. It started fast and left me wishing it was a full length book. I know the author mentioned this is a novella prior to an actual book release (sounds like it'll follow different characters). I wish I could see more of this couple.
Forest Fated: 4/5 I enjoy the idea of Fated mates between a werewolf and a mage versus the standard wolf and human. This was an enemies-to-lovers, mildly spicy novella, so it had my favorite things.
Moonlit Desires: 4/5 Another Fated mates based story. I love that they continue to find one another through every reincarnation. I feel the idea of reincarnation and being together across multiple lifetimes is such a fun trope. Definitely wish there was more
Celestial Rescue: 5/5 I did not want this one to end! I'm so glad to see the author is doing a full release. I love how Kyp and Meg communicate with the language barrier and are able to heal Meg. I can't wait to see what becomes of the other girls on the shuttle and the other packs!
Loved this collection of urban fantasy stories. They are primarily shifter related. Each story lists the spice level at the beginning. The first few are 0 with no romance at all. The rest were mostly 1's and 2's. As I don't typically read spicy stories, these didn't bother me at all. All of the stories are heavily centered around the actual plot with little attention to the spicy elements.
My favorite story was The Monsters You Forget. The only one I wasn't a fan of was more sci-fi related. Otherwise this is definitely a 5 star collection!
Who doesn’t love a compilation of supernatural stories (9 to be exact)?! I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I read 6/9 as ARC reads. These stories left me wanting to know more (fingers crossed for more content because wow). Highly recommend for those who just want a nice fantasy getaway with a variety of stories! Forested Mates had to be my favorite read out of them all.
This was my second ARC read. I signed up for it because I prefer short stories over long books and all the stories seemed so interesting.
The first short story I got to read was: Moonlit Desires by Laura Schofield. I don’t normally read fated mate books, but this one had me hooked so much. It was amazing to follow the story between Emma and Ethan, seeing their bond grow as well as watching them grow from their past.
The second short story I got to read was: The Wolves - Werewolf Football Players by Arla Jones. I was hooked from the first page, with the plot twist at the end has left me needing more to this story. Following how one pill changes the lives of a football team and how they try to keep the secret from everyone. It’s an amazing quick read.
I really enjoyed Tales of Howloween! I was able to read 4 short stories through being an ARC reader and it has helped me find a new love for short stories! I recommend this anthology to anyone who loves fated mates, wolf shifters, mystery, adventure, high fantasy, and 2 of the ones I read had 3/5 spice! I really love how some of these are quick reads but you feel so immersed into an entire different world
Tales of Howloween (The Tales Short Story Collection Book 1) is the perfect anthology for Halloween. Readers enjoy paranormal and fantasy novels with werewolves, shifters, spooks, romance, and drama will not want to miss out on this dynamic collection. Tales of Howloween draws readers in with a beautiful cover. The background gives off a sense of cloudy twilight night with glittering stars in the sky. At the corners are depicted thorny vines in shadows weaving around and across the cover. Center stage is a beautiful profile of a wolf’s head in shades of midnight. The wolf has a bright star for an eye, with stars and a crescent moon scattered across it’s coat. Nestled in the wolf’s profile is the silhouette of a young woman painted in gold. The cover of Tales of Howloween gives the impression of beauty, mystery, a sense of fantasy and a hint of the paranormal. Tales of Howloween is an anthology of short stories written by a variety of authors. You’ll find some favorites in this Tales Short Story Collection, and you’ll discover some new authors that you’ll be eager to follow up with concerning their respective stories. Some stories are short, sweet and to the point. While there are some stories that are longer than others. Author D.C. Gomez kicks things off in Tales of Howloween by reuniting readers with Constantine and several others of the gang from the Death’s Interns series. This story is short and sweet with no spice which is consistent with author Gomez’s work. Bloodstone by author Gomez gives readers a story about a dangerous stone that could potentially awaken the Egyptian god Set. Sounds like a problem, right? Well, it definitely is. But, there’s more! Of course there’s more! Author Gomez never disappoints by doubling down on the drama that threatens to unfold, but does it with a healthy dose of humor. Bloodstone gives readers paranormal with tons of drama, a nice dose of humor, and keeps readers glued to the pages. Bloodstone is short and sweet. You get a nice little short story with characters that you’re familiar with and love. While this story is one of the shorter ones of this collection, it still wets the appetite for more Constantine and the crew. Now, the next story in Tales of Howloween is one that you’re not going to be ready for. Author Arla Jones comes with the intent to surprise readers and boy does she ever! The Wolves – Werewolf Football Players is a story that will literally have your jaw on the floor. You’re getting contaminated pills, “adverse effects” and a twist element that will have you eyes popping out of your head. You will be thinking “WTF did I just read?!” It’s more than safe to say that The Wolves – Werewolf Football Players gives readers the stereotypical werewolf, but goes a step further. Author Jones gives readers a lead up that we find predictable, and then...BAM! We get hit with a shocker. It’s an aspect of this short story that readers will not be forgetting any time soon. Plus, readers who like the angle that author Jones takes will be rushing off to check out more of her works. The shortest story in Tales of Howloween is the short story - For Shuck’s Sake by Julie L. Kramer. This story brings something fresh and new to the table. In this story we’re getting more shifters and wolves, but this time it’s a hybrid character. Okay, hybrid characters aren’t necessarily “fresh and new” but it’s the type of hybrid that we’re getting. Author Kramer introduces readers to shucks. What are shucks? Well, they’re a mix of selkies and wolves. Author Kramer beautifully combines these two shifter breeds together to create something new and unique. This story is a tease of a bigger story yet to come. We meet a trio of friends. Their relationship is a beautiful one. Their friendship is strong, and readers will love how they connect to each other. No romance to be found, but who knows what’s to come later on once the story is fully fleshed out. As Tales of Howloween unfolds with each unique story by their own respective authors readers will be transported to various locations and meet a dynamic cast of characters. Readers will be swept away to fantastical worlds to explore and with each new story the romance will begin to creep in. The steam-o-meter will gradually inch up until you’re getting some sweet tasty moments to enjoy. Each story in Tales of Howloween begins with a brief introduction about the author and give readers some information about them that you probably didn’t even know. You’ll also get a tiny blurb that will give you an idea of what to expect concerning the story you’ve come to. Each author includes a list of tropes you’ll discover with the story and a steamy meter. The first few stories you’ll encounter in Tales of Howloween will have little to no steamy moments. As this anthology progresses the steamy meter will begin to inch up a little bit a time. When the steamy hits – it hits. Now, does that mean that you’re getting a ton of steamy? Not necessarily. You’ll get one book that hits 4/5 on the steamy meter, but that’s about it. For readers who prefer the “less is more” then this anthology will suit you just fine. You’ll be able to go in, check which stories have the levels that you’re comfortable with and read those. Each story in Tales of Howloween will have something for readers looking for stories up and down the range. Want something with no spice? The first four stories have got you covered. Want something with ranging degrees of steamy? Then the remaining five stories will have you covered and more. You’ll get the romance you crave, plus a little more – depending on the story, of course. Tales of Howloween (The Tales of Short Story Collection Book 1) is a deliciously delightful collection of short stories that give readers a taste of a variety of authors and their respective works. Readers get romance, drama, horror, fantasy, paranormal, and even a little science fiction. This anthology definitely will keep readers on their toes on what to expect. Love an anthology that gives you a little of everything? Then Tales of Howloween is the anthology for you. Love wolves? Then Tales of Howloween is the anthology for you. Like being able to select how much spice you read in a story? Then Tales of Howloween is the book for you. So, what are you waiting for? Snap this collection up and treat yourself to a delightful Halloween anthology.
Pros:
• Dynamic collection of stories • Varying levels of steamy that gradually increases as the anthology goes along. • The “howl”-oween element is thoroughly represented in each story. • Engaging storylines that leave you wanting more. • Page-turner
I received a couple of short story e-ARCs from the Tales of Howloween. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to enjoy these short stories that are perfectly fitting for spooky season.
Forest Fated by J. D. Magnetra 3.5/5 stars
I really enjoyed this wolf-shifter/mage short story. It keeps you captivated and intrigued from the beginning. It was very fast paced and left me wanting more. There is definitely room for more detail and elaboration on Ari’s and Cassius’ story.
I was aware before reading any of these short stories, that they varied in the amount of spice. I would have to say though, that Forest Fated didn’t have much. Granted there is a somewhat slow burn romance between the two MCs, but other than the one spicy scene, there wasn’t much else as far as spice goes. I would’ve loved it if there was a bit more chemistry between Ari and Cassius going on throughout their journey to meet the sly, Lord Malfax. I look forward to continuing on with the series.
Moonlit Desires by Laura Schofield 4.75/5 stars
This was fantastic! By far my favorite of the short story e-ARCs that I received. The spice was tasteful and enjoyable. Not to mention, the relationship between Emma and Ethan was believable and heartfelt. Their love conquered all!
It does carry on with the spooky season vibe of the Tales of Howloween but, I would also say that Moonlit Desires gives off more of a paranormal/supernatural romantasy vibe.
Ms. Schofield’s writing style is fluid and beautifully captivating. Her attention to detail immerses you in the supernatural world of Ravenwood, painting an intrinsic picture of love and longing.
White Falls Haunt by S.R. Griffith 2.5/5 stars
For this being a prequel, it was pretty rough at times to get through. It lacked guts and was very hard to follow at times. Things just seemed to happen without any real explanation and lacked major details. Especially with the opening scene of Abby going into the haunt… there was just a lot going on all at once and a bit confusing as to who was dialoging.
Even throughout the story, it was hard to keep most of the dialogue straight. The author really didn’t separate and determine who was talking. I felt that I pretty much had to guess who was conversing in a lot of the scenes. I’m not sure if that was intentional or not, but I feel that the author needs improvement on that aspect.
When it came to our MC’s, Vince and Abby establishing their bond, it just seemed forced and lacked anything and everything you would originally think that fated mates would have. Their realationship seemed to be all about physical attraction and had the “your mine” vibe going on more than anything. Granted Abby mentioned that they knew nothing about each other and was willing to work towards that goal, but Vince obviously wanted to go down the sexual route instead. Speaking of sex, the one sexy scene was ok to say the least. It seemed quite rushed and that the author really wasn’t sure on which way to take the scene. It kind of just happened out of nowhere and didn’t come off as believable or passionate.
As far as the world building and magic system is concerned, it was intriguing but again, lacked major details. I honestly hope that the series isn’t as full of mistakes as this was.
The Midnight Pack by Kristy Perkins 3.75/5 stars
A human bit by an alpha, rescued by the son of an alpha from a rival pack, and to top it all off, she has no memory of what happened or how she got there…
The Midnight Pack is absolutely fantastic! Ms. Perkins’ writing style is very fluid and attentive to detail. I felt like I was the one shifting by the end of this wolf shifter tale.
A Red Moon Rises by River Seabrook 3.25 stars
An action-packed short story! Cait is a badass wolf spirit/shifter that takes no crap from anyone. Not even her monstrous ex who also happens to be alpha of the Kiba pack.
In a world where humans rule and spirits are in hiding, cities have taken over the natural world with smog and waste. So much so, that spirits can no longer bathe in the moonlight. They long for the old days when they weren’t forced into hiding and could shift at will or without worry of being killed.
Cait and Milo (a cat spirit) are misfit acquaintances over the decades. They come together to escape Raphael, the leader of the outcast and hunted Kiba wolf pack. Milo owes Cait a life and in return promises her the moon.
I enjoyed the writing and story line of A Red Moon Rises. The magic system and world building were quite detailed and beautiful as well as intriguing. I look forward to reading more from this series.
Bloodstone by D.C. Gomez 3/5 stars
Although the beginning was quite slow and hard to get in to, I rather enjoyed this short story. It really started to pick up about halfway through. The plot and writing were great and, not to mention, action-packed throughout the remainder of the story.
With elements of ancient Egypt and the God Set, the Four Horsemen, werewolves and reapers all tied into one!
This was an interesting read but not sure that I would categorize it along with the other werewolf stories found in the Tales of Howloween. It doesn’t really give the spooky vibe like the others have. I’m not saying that it wasn’t a great story, only that it’s not your typical spooky season read. More of a heist-esque read than anything.
For Shucks Sake by Julie L. Kramer 3.75/5 stars
I absolutely love the concept of a “shuck.” Half werewolf, half selkie and able to see the future!
Ms. Kramer did a fantastic job with this short story. I for one, can’t wait to continue on to the next book in the series and see what Anya, Brannon and Sab have in store after that ending!
This is my review for Forest Fated By Author J.D. Magentra, which is one of 9 short werewolf/shifter romances that make up Tales of Howloween book.
I have to say I loved Forest Fated, which was an absolutely wonderful, great short story. It had everything I look for on a magical fantasy read, Mages(witches), magic, epic journey, action, and a little spice.
The two main characters, Ariella and Cassius, were just so perfect for each other when they stopped hating each other and helping each other out. Their coming together was just so SPICY!
Moonlit Desires By: Laura Schofield is the second book I've read out of this nine book collection called Tales of Howloween. I have to say another winner in these short Wolfe, werewolf romance stories. I loved this romantic, Fated mated, magical story. It blew me away, it was so well written and the characters were so well thought out, I actually thought I was in Ravenwood experiences everything with Emma and Ethan and the rest of the pack. I loved how the story flowed and the journey was not just bout fighting evil but Emma & Ethan and their connection that has happened time and time again, and experiencing love and passion through their bond.
I was pleasantly surprised when I was picked to ARC read White Falls Haunt By S.R. Griffith. This short story is part of a book with eight other short stories by all different authors called Tales of Howlween. This is book three I received from the collection. I have to say this short Wolfe shifter read was really quiet good. It had a great storyline for a short read. This story will having you wanting more from White Falls and the White Wolf Pack. This story was about shifter Vince who finds his mate at the annual Haunted Trails he and his pack put on. He finds his mate Abby there. This book shows his journey into how he win his mate and how special it is that he found her. The spicy scenes will have you fanning yourself, so he warned. All and all a wonderful read! Can't wait to read more.
I was blessed to read another read in this wonderful book that's 9 stories by 9 different authors all centered around wolf/werewolf stories. This is the fourth book called The Midnight Pack By Kristy Perkins. I have to say they are all slowly becoming my new favorite short reads. Kristy can really tell a story that will capture your interest til the very end, then making you want to read more. The characters were just so good and made the story. I could really feel for the main heroine Avalon, who was abandoned by her parents as a baby and grew up in foster care. Then she gets bite and winds up in a pack house with the man who saves her and all the drama that happens after she finds out what's she's gonna turn into. This is a prequel to a Trilogy. I can wait to read more!
This short sci-fi Wolf story is number five of nine story. I have reviewed fourth others. I have to say I really enjoyed this read, the author is very descriptive and had awesome characters in this short story. The story was never boring or lacking. I liked the idea of a wolf shifter sci-fi story digging into different plants and beings, and learning about this new world Charlene described. I hope this story is part of a bigger novel at some point because it was very interesting.
I was surprised I got to read another awesome wolf shifter short story out of this awesome book Tales of Howlween. Story Six out of nine I've been honored to read! All these authors are incredibly talented to be able to write a short story and be able to have enough there in the storyline to keep the interest of the reader. But I have to say these authors have hit it out of the park. All the stories I've read have been really good. A Red Moon Rises is a really good shifter romance that focuses on shifters hiding themselves and not shifting or showing their true selves like they could do in the past. I loved the interactions between Cait a wolf shifter and Milo a cat shifter. They were so cute. I hope to read more soon.
This is book Seven. I have reviewed out of this nine short story book called Tales of Howloween! I have to say this short story about werewolves and talk about God's like set (God of chaos) and Reapers, death and witches was really good, it kept my interest seeing its not a normal read for me. I loved learning about everything this story talked about. The author D.C. Gomes can really tell a story. All the magical elements were fun to read about and the different things about Reapers and the interns that all work for death was awesome to read about and their journey to find the bloodstone to stop the cult from raising chaos. Definitely check this book out Tales of Howloween to read all these awesome stories

Emma and Ethan are destined to find each other, but they must battle through Supernatural forces that threaten the world as Halloween approaches. Emma unlocks her powers with the help of Ethan and his Wolfpack, and they must work together to overcome the evil forces so they can have their HEA. This was sweet, fast paced, and steamy romance.
(3) The Werewolf football players - Aria Jones ⭐⭐⭐ A suspenseful fantasy/horror thriller where a team of football players in need of a sporting boost decide to take black market steroids unknowingly infected with lycanthropy. When symptoms start showing the team battle through in the hopes whatever is happening to them all will soon pass, but events turn deadly as the full moon approaches.
(4) White Falls Haunt - S.R.Griffith ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌶️💚 A spicy paranormal romance where it's insta love for Wolf-Shifter Vince when he finds his fated mate, but human Abby is having none of that especially when the commanding stranger tries to kidnap her and won't leave her alone. She has to reign it in and slow things down even if it's heated between them.
(5) The Midnight Pack - Kristy Perkins ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌶️💚 A paranormal fantasy told from the POV of Avalon a girl who wakes up in a strange house with no memory of what happened, only to discover shes now part of a paranormal world something her logical mind is refusing to accept is possible. But she has Jeremy by her side to help her through it, the Alpha's son and the new stranger that helped save her and who she feels inexplicably drawn too.
(6) Celestial Rescue - Charlene Pender ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5🌶️💚 A sci-fi paranormal romance, where Meg and other humans on a spaceship are being pursued by their enemy abducters before they crash land on an unknown planet. Meg is separated from the others and gravely injured when she's rescued by an alien wolf shifting creature who takes a shine to her, and she feels a confusing attraction to this savour.
(7) A Red Moon Rises - River Seabrook ⭐⭐⭐ Cait (she wolf) and Milo (cat shifter) are spirit beings that have lived for centuries now wandering in the modern world that's become dark and murky with a haze in the sky from pollution. When Milo is hunted by other wolves Cait comes to his rescue. This is a sweet story about friendship and loyalty.
(8) For Shucks Sake - Julie L Kramer ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5💚 A short glimpse into a fated mates story between clumsy new guy Rhett, and Werewolf Selkie shifter Anya. When Rhett hits Anya with his truck while she's in wolf form he tries to help her, then the following day he clips her again with his truck at school while she's human. A strange force and mystery visions are pulling them together.
(9) Bloodstone - Jamie Dalton ⭐⭐⭐.5 A fun urban fantasy where death, the reaper, and their interns come across an apocalyptic scheme when a cult of werewolves plan to resurrect an Egyptian God. This is a fast paced action filled story with quirky characters and banter.
This was a collection of 9 different werewolf stories. There was a lot of variety and different views from classic to out of this world. I enjoyed all of them and am so glad I got the chance to arc read this book. It was perfect for the spooky season.
4/5 For Shucks Sake by Julie L. Kramer - Very interesting short tale about 4 shucks (half werewolf/half selkie) and one fated night. This story follows Anya and her friends and a vision leading to one of the shucks finding their fated mate. Who knows what else is to come? I definitely would love to read more about what will happen with our pack, not pack.
5/5 Celestial Rescue by Charlene Pender - I loved the mix of sci-fi and fantasy. The idea that not only is there other life out there, but that some of those lifeforms might be werewolves is very intriguing. This story had me hooked beginning to end. I cannot wait to read more about Meg and Kyp.
4.5/5 White Falls Haunt by S.R. Griffith - I love the idea that your fated mate could be anywhere, so why not find them at a haunted house? From the beginning of the story until the end the only thing Vince is concerned with is stealing Abby’s heart. And with enough patience and perseverance he just might. There was just enough spice between them as well. I’m excited to see more of their love story unfold.
5/5 Forest Fated by J.D. Magnetra - I love a nice enemies to lovers trope and the tension between Cassius and Ariella is great. Kidnapped and to be turned over to a Dark Lord, Ariella is desperate to escape. But who knew her only chance of escaping was to stop trying to run away and embrace her enemy?
4/5 Moonlit Desires by Laura Schofield - This story was very well written but seemed just slightly repetitive. I know it’s a short story but I wish I could have had just a little bit more detail. Regardless I loved the romance between Emma and Ethan. The idea that fated mates could keep meeting in every lifetime is such a beautiful concept. In every life Ethan and Emma are fated to find each other, even if their love is short lived. But is their love enough to overcome the darkness lurking in the woods this time?
4.5/5 The Wolves - The Werewolf Football Play by Arla Jones - Were-bats contaminating steroids in a manufacturing building, what could possibly go wrong? This team of football players only wanted to win some games. Instead they’ll lose in a lot more ways. I loved the more traditional take on werewolves with the stories own creative way of how they got that way.
4.5/5 Bloodstone by D.C. Gomez - This story mostly followed Bob, Shorty, and Bartholomew, members of Constantine’s team. One of Death’s interns has gone missing and it’s their job to figure out where they went and why. I loved the concept of this story and the mix of mythology involved. I’m a little confused on if Reapers and interns are two different things and if so I would to learn more about how one becomes a reaper or intern. Aside from that I really enjoyed this story and I would love to read more of their adventures in the future.
4.5/5 A Red Moon Rises by River Seabrook - Two spirits trapped in a world that wants to forget them. Ruined by heavy pollution and big city life the world they are in is not the one they remember. But at least they have each other? I love the friendship blossoming between Cait and Milo. Maybe it will lead to more than friendship? I can’t wait to see where they go and how they will navigate this world they are stuck in.
5/5 The Midnight Pack by Kristy Perkins - Avalon is thrown into a world she never knew existed after an incident one night. With the help of Jeremy she slowly starts to learn the truth about what happened to her and what more is to come. She has never had a solid home before, never felt like she truly belonged anywhere. But is it possible she has found exactly where she was meant to be with Jeremy and his pack? I loved this prequel and cannot wait to read more about Avalon and Jeremy.
I'm so glad that I was given the opportunity to be part of the ARC team for this anthology!!! I will be updating my review every time I finish one of the short stories, they have been trickling in.
My first encounter with Tales of Howloween was Moonlit Desires by Laura Schofield. This story is about Emma a wallflower that on Halloween night has a bizarre encounter that will flip her life upside down. Which is not that bad when you add Ethan to the mix *wink*. There are “changes" in Emma's future, that will change her life furever (LOL). I'm truly looking forward to the next chapter in Emma and Ethan's story (this is a prequel). I loved the story, and the ending got me wanting more!!! (fated, past life, spice)
Next stop is Forest fated by JD Magnetra In this story Ariella (mage) and Cassius (captain of shifters) and "forced" to work together against lord Malfax (I dislike him, a lot). I really enjoyed that JD provided us (the readers) with enough details to have an entertaining story to follow, that was engaging and at the end leaves wanting to know more about these characters’ futures! There is spice (and a LOT of slow burning desire) you know the enemies to lovers’ kind of thing!!
Then it was all aboard: White Falls Haunt by SR Griffith This story is about Abby and Vince's unexpected meeting in a Haunt trail in the woods (perfect for spooky season). I LOVE how this author writes, finishing the whole thing in a flash. The banter between the MC's is "chef kiss" and the whole thing about going to brunch had me in stitches. Too normal for a shifter story, but Vince had to "woo" our Abby the "human" way. Let's just say that Vince has his work cut out for him. There is spice in this unusual romance story!!
Oh boy!! Next is The Midnight Pack by Kristy Perkins To say that I really enjoyed the bizzarre way this story starts and that it had me exclaiming WTF is going on here is an understatement. Imagine yourself waking up in a strange place with no recollection of the past day with an injury. And then you think you have been abducted by a "cult". I will not lie this story took me and the FMC on a wild ride. The ending had me at the end in my seat! Can I have more? (HEHEHE) There is burning desire between the MC's (spicy) and the warm feeling of a found family!!!
Then I kept moving forward with Red Moon Rises by River Seabrook When I say moving forward, what I mean is all the way into the future (YIKES)! Imagine you are shifters that need to hide their nature in this dystopian future in a polluted world where you can't even see the moon. This is the reality for Cait and Milo, imagine living for centuries just to watch in horror how humanity takes nature for granted. And sadly, technology is king, making beings in this reality make some extreme decisions to survive. This story has no spice but an unexpected enemy to friend’s trope
Next into outer space: Celestial Rescue by Charlene Pender This story was fast moving, and action packed. There was sexual tension in the air as soon as the two main characters met in the “flesh”. Human and alien shifter meeting on a planet after a crash, due to an escape. The writer describes the setting and characters with details that you can picture it all in your head. The ending got me wanting more about the main character’s romance and how it will develop.
Blood Stone by DC Gomez This was a great surprise; I was not expecting an ARC of this story, but I got one. And let me tell you something it got me hooked. As soon as I started reading couldn’t put it down. The characters were a refreshing change of the stories that I usually read. Even though it was a short story, it gave me enough plot, description of characters, action that left me wanting more. At the end I did want to hug Constantine too!! Hope to read more of DC Gomez stories in the future.
I received some of the stories so I will review each individually.
Before I continue with my reviews I want to say that I really liked the Librarian narrator and how she introduces each story with a tidbit of each author like an application. It made me feel like I was watching a documentary, very fun.
Bloodstone by D.C. Gomez 5⭐ This is the first story in the collection and my first from D.C. Gomez. The writing was well done, I loved the plot and it immediately pulls you in. It is about Reapers and how they also have interns to assist the Reapers. I loved this whole concept of having interns work for death. It had a bit of comedy with a couple of the characters which I really enjoyed. So far I liked Bob's personality. I felt that Bartholomew was well portrayed since he was still young when he became a reaper and is still growing, even though physically is looks older. You see his youth by some of the choices or mannerisms he does as I read. Even though this story was short it felt complete and left me wanting to read the next installment.
The Wolves- Werewolf Football Players by Arla Jones 3⭐ The storyline was definitely interesting. This story and the way it is written reminds me of anime shows. Especially with the narrating. It was interesting to read how a group of football players want to win their game and are so desperate for the win that they are willing to try anything. However, when weird things start to happen to their bodies because of what they took and the horror that it leads to they do not make the best of choices in how to handle it. I gave this a three-star rating because the idea was good but the execution for me was not the best but not the worst I have ever read.
Celestial Rescue by Charlene Pender 3⭐ I love fated mates story I read that in the caption of a book and I'm hooked. I also loved sci-fi-fated mates and shifter-fated mates. This is just everything I loved wrapped in one story. Our girl Meg is not one to stand around and wait to be saved. We meet her as she is trying to help her flight companions escape aliens that had kidnapped them from their planet. When they crash land on a planet with sexy wolf shifters 🥰 (swoon and fans herself). The pace is great and is written with multiple POV's which I like. So we get to meet both of the protagonists. The only reason I gave this a 3/5 star rating is because it felt like I read the first few chapters of the book. I feel like for this collection of stories they should be complete. However, I will be looking forward to reading more about Meg and Kyp in the future.
White Falls Haunt by S. R. Griffith 4⭐ I have to say I LOVED THIS ONE! The idea behind haunted trails to help shifters attract possible mates was a great twist to the story. Getting snatched in a haunted trail by an overprotective and possessive mate? Yes, sign me up. (I know I may need therapy with this kind of thought but meh) I can't wait to read another installment or a sequel to this. Definitely my favorite out of all the ARCs I was sent. Loved how this shifter was like you are mine and I will do whatever it takes to keep you. He was willing to learn how to woo her like a normal human man.
Moonlit Desires by Lara Schofield 3⭐ My favorite thing about this was the fated souls through time. It felt, to me, like I jumped to the middle of the book when the lovers finally meet. Then he explains things to her which she takes her time accepting. However, I felt that I needed some explanation as to how is it she has powers and the town just accepts the changes. I think it needed a bit more to make it feel complete. However, if looking for spice this definitely has some towards the end of it and it doesn't disappoint.
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
I had the amazing opportunity of reading all 9 short stories in this anthology. They were each great in their plot and I can’t wait to read more.
Moonlit Desires - This story follows Emma and Ethan. Fated mates who’ve lived multiple lives always torn apart. Until now, when Emma embraces her powers and together they defeat the shadows and creatures to save the town, people and their love.
The Wolves - This story follows a young High School football team who have never won a game in the history of the school. The players all get together to pay for anabolic steroids but little did they know they were contaminated by a hairy bats blood and they’re now all turning into wolves. But when they arrive at a party on a full moon, carnage ensues.
White Fang Haunt - This story follows Abby and Vince. The banter and humor along with the sarcasm were amazing. Abby gets grabbed during a haunted house, the first fated mate in 10 years. But she makes sure Vince woos her to make her fall for him. I absolutely loved this story!!
Forest Fated - This story follows Ariella and Cassius. I loved their banter. Ariella is held hostage by Cassius who’s tasked to bring her to Lord Malfax. But these two quickly learn their fated mates and work together to bring down Lord Malfax and all the creatures who’s trying to stop them.
The Midnight Pack - This story follows Avalon and Jeremy. I loved this story and didn’t want it to end!! Avalon wakes up in a foreign house, tries to run but ultimately comes back while Jeremy tries to explain what’s happened to her. But when the full moon rises, her body starts to reject the shift as she was never meant to be a wolf as a hunter.
A Red Moon Roses - This story follows Cait and Milo. She’s a wolf, he’s a cat, natural enemies. But you get a glimpse of how they met and when Milo gets into trouble with her old pack, Cait saves him. I wanted so much more of this story.
For Shucks Sake - This story follows Anya a half werewolf half selkie and her friends Brannon and Sabrione. Anya gets hit by a truck and keeps running into Rhett afterwards and realizes their fated. I need the rest of this book!
Bloodstone - This story follows Amani and The Reapers. This story drew me in so fast, I need this in full length. Amani is missing, the Reapers are trying to find her and learn of the dangers of rogue werewolves trying to release the Lord of Chaos. I loved all the guys and the banter in this story.
Celestial Rescue - This story follows Meg and Kyp. Meg crashes into a planet and gets hurts. She wakes to Kyp tending to her but they don’t speak the same language and he’s a wolf shifter with healing saliva powers. The descriptions were great and I need to read so much more of this story!!
I received ARCs for 6 of the short stories from this anthology to review. Overall, I really enjoyed these stories, they weren’t all to my taste but all in all I liked the theme. These were perfect short stories to get you in the mood for the Halloween season. I am giving the anthology a 4 star rating. My individual ratings are below.
Forest Fated By J.D. Magnetra 4 stars This was such a sweet story. I loved to see Ariella and Cassius’s progression toward each other while they work together. It had a great pacing for a short story. There were so many little detailed that rounded out the plot to feel just a full and a full-length book.
The Midnight Pack By Kristy Perkins 5 Stars What a great story, I think this is my favorite of all the ones I read. First off I absolutely loved the Box Girl references, true crime girlie after my own heart. Avalon’s paranoia and changing thoughts was so relatable as she was trying to figure out what happened to her. One part that really got to me was Avalon finding her belongings on the curb with the trash. That gutted me. Such an amazing story and I saw this was a prequel! I will definitely be reading more from this author.
White Falls Haunt By S.R. Griffith 3 Stars I really liked the idea of this story, getting snatched at a haunt house *chef’s kiss*. As with another on of the stories from this anthology I felt this story could have benefited from being a longer story. I did like this story, but I would describe it as okay. I really like Abby and her standing up for herself and making Vince work for her affection. It was short and spicy so I can’t complain.
Bloodstone By D.C. Gomes 3 Stars This was a cool adventure story. I enjoyed it. It was very different from the other stories I read but in the best way. Curious to read more in this world.
Celestial Rescue By Charlene Pender 4 Stars This was too short and I need more. Very similar to Ice Planet Barbarians to me, but again in the best way. I really liked Meg and Kyp and I look forward to reading more of this story.
Moonlit Desires, By Laura Schofield 2 Stars This is the story I rated the lowest. I just don’t think this story was for me. I found that there were a couple of lines of imagery that were repeated throughout the story, Like the exact same line which was odd to me. The idea of the story was very interesting to me and I think could have benefited from being a longer story. On a positive note, I did like the spice.
Again, a great way to get into the spooky season with so many different stories, there is something for everyone. Thank you again for the ARCs.
I ARC read a couple of the story’s. Keep in mind that every story is short so you won’t be filled up with details of the world-building. The authors make it easy to understand the story which you end up enjoying it throughout the way.
Forest Fated: Rate 4 stars - This short story is about a mage and a werewolf who don’t start in the right foot but throughout the story things happen and their relationship as enemies start to change. The story was very entertaining and it had a satisfying ending which I definitely enjoyed. This story has adventure, fighting, escaping, fated mate, romance, magic, wolf shifters etc.
The Wolves - The werewolf Football Players: Rate 5 stars - This story was not what I’m used to because it had no romance but even though it has no romance it was still a good story. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I loved the ending which came to a total surprise. This story gave me spooky Halloween vibes. Which was what I needed this month of October.
White Falls Haunt: Rate 5 stars - I loved the spooky beginning of the story as well as the attitude of the FMC throughout the book. The spice was amazing as well as the story, it left me wanting more regarding the couple and the world-building. I felt like this story was a little teaser for me and now I want it all.
Celestial Rescue: Rate 5 stars - I loved how we zoom into action in the beginning of the chapter. It was so easy to understand and it had me captivated until the end. It left me wanting more because this one was a teased but definitely worth it.
Moonlit Desires: Rate 4.5 stars - This story has a satisfying ending which was appropriate with all the teasing I’ve been getting with the last short story’s. I think the author did an amazing job writing this short story and ending it. I loved the fated mates with reincarnation souls mates. It was a sweet spicy romance which was very enjoyable.
For Shacks Sake: Rate 4 stars - The beginning was amazing and I loved the little world-building we got, I was left with wanting more because 2 chapters wasn’t enough and it left me with more questions and needing the ending. I loved where the story was taking me so I’m hoping the author is continuing the story.
Blood Stone: Rate 5 stars - This story had me laughing a lot. I really enjoyed each character and the way they all got along. The story was fascinating. It had mummy’s, and ancient artifacts, we also had adventures, action, traveling, fighting, rescuing and so much more. This story was absolutely enjoyable and super entertaining.
Over all every stories where unique and interesting, I was left teased in some of the stories. I hope the authors continues the stories. This is a good way to meet new authors and their writing style, while getting an amazing short story. I definitely recommend the book, each story is different and takes you to different worlds that are fascinating, some have spice while others have just romance and some had no romance.
Small Business BookTok ARC Reviews: "Tales of Howloween: Forest Fated, White Falls Haunts, Celestial Rescue, and Bloodstone" by J.D. Magnetra, S.R Griffith and Charlene Pender
Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and/or publisher and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.
This Halloween, join J.D. Magnetra, S.R. Griffith, Charlene Pender, D.C. Gomez and several other spooktacular romance authors as they each share unique variations of wolf shifter stories!
I had the honor of reading 4 of the short stories presented, "Forest Fated" by J.D. Magnetra and "White Falls Haunts" by S.R. Griffith, "Celestial Rescue" by Charlene Pender, and "Bloodstone" by D.C. Gomez, and these were truly fall-tastic reads! These reads not only incorporated well beloved monster romance Tropes from Fated Mates to Hate-to-Love, but said short stories have excellent messages that I believe would resonate with many romance readers! The first story I read, "Forest Fated", with its Enemies-to-Lovers, Mage x Wolf Shifter romance, taught the importance of teamwork and how it can help bring about change in the world! "White Falls Haunts", with its Hate-to-Love, Fated Mates narrative, taught the importance of consent."
"Celestial Rescue", with its Wolf-Shifter/Alien Romance, briefly tackles trauma from abuse while also teaching the importance of communicating and regaining trust in people when forming new relationships. The final read, "Bloodstone", with it’s Wolf-Shifter adventure narrative and reaper lore, was similar to “Forest Fated” in its emphasis on teamwork and team building, ever in dangerous situations! If you're looking for the perfect monster romance anthology series to read this Halloween, you can check out the book when it hits online shelves on October 15th, 2023!
Spice Meter (In Order): 3/5🌶🌶🌶, 2/5🌶🌶, 0/5 Rating: 4/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tropes to Expect: "Forest Fated": High Fantasy, Fated Mates "White Falls Haunts": Rejected Mates, Fated Mates "Celestial Rescue": Alien Romance, Close Proximity, He Falls First, Fated Mates "Bloodstone": Urban Fantasy.
Tales of Howloween by D. C. Gomez is a bewitching collection of nine supernatural stories that masterfully blend magic, romance, and mystery. Set against the backdrop of Halloween's eerie charm, these tales feature a wide array of characters and creatures that will captivate readers who enjoy supernatural fiction. Each story brings something unique, from shape-shifting wolves to nature spirits, creating a diverse and thrilling reading experience.
The anthology opens with "Forest Fated," where wolf shifter Cassius and mage Ariella team up against an ancient evil. Their story is full of tension and intrigue, as a powerful prophecy binds them together, making it a standout in this collection. Similarly, "A Red Moon Rises" and "The Midnight Pack" explore themes of self-discovery and hidden ancestry, offering readers a mix of both danger and hope as characters grapple with their fates.
Romantic elements in stories like "Moonlit Desires" and "White Falls Haunt" add a softer dimension, intertwining love with the magical chaos surrounding the characters. In "Celestial Rescue," Gomez even ventures into cosmic romance, with an alien rescue that sparks otherworldly desires. Each of these tales is rich in atmosphere, keeping readers on the edge of their seats with both heart-pounding action and tender moments.
There’s also a touch of dark humor and unexpected twists, particularly in stories like "The Wolves," where football players become werewolves in a strange quest for victory, and "For Shuck's Sake," a fun and lighthearted mystery that adds a playful note to the collection.
Closing with the urban fantasy adventure "Bloodstone," *Tales of Howloween* finishes strong, as the Reapers Crew battles a dangerous cult. This final story solidifies the anthology's theme of supernatural forces lurking in every corner.
Overall, *Tales of Howloween* is an engaging and enchanting read, perfect for fans of paranormal adventures, mystical creatures, and spellbinding romance. D. C. Gomez has crafted a world where magic and mystery reign supreme, making this a must-read for anyone who enjoys stories with a supernatural twist.
I got to read 4 of the 9 books in this series as eARCs. Overall, I enjoyed them, I just wish they were a bit longer.
Bloodstone by D.C. Gomez- This was an interesting story. Werewolves in Egypt?! Mummies?! Evil cult?! This Reapers crew travels to Egypt to stop an apocalypse and save an intern of death. It was very fast-paced but was still a fun adventure!
Forest Fated by J.D Magnetra- I love J.D.'s writing first off she is one of my favorite authors. This is about a wizard who is captured by a crew of werewolves to being back to a tyrant leader. I loved the banter we got between these two. Enemies to lovers is always a favorite trope for me! I really enjoyed how the relationship they had as they respected each other and worked as a team, even if initially they were in denial of being fated mates. It was overall a good story!
The Midnight Pack by Kristy Perkins- This book was interesting as the main character is bit by a rival pack but is left for dead. Another pack takes her in, but most of them are not fond of her. She has no memory of what happened to her at all, and her whole work flips upside down after she wakes up. We got fated mates and definitely vibes of a book to follow after this one. I enjoyed this story!
White Falls Haunt by S.R. Griffith- This out of all of the ones I read seemed the hardest to push through. It is so fast-paced that I feel we missed details that would have helped this book more. Our main character is going to a haunt alone and instantly grabbed by a worker, who happens to be a werewolf, and she is his mate. I feel there is lacking some explanations at times as well as details to help us understand and keep with the story. I didn't enjoy the process of the male character just wanting to instantly go to sex instead of wanting to work through the relationship as our FMC wasnt willing to just up and leave her life for someone she doesn't know and a life she knows nothing about. This all felt very rushed and crammed together. Wasn't the worst read, but I wish it was a bit more polished.
Absolutely 💯 love this collection, need it🙏🏻 and need to know what happens in all of them! Thank you for letting me be an ARC reader for you guys!!🙏💜 These were all amazing

Arc ebooks for: Forest fated, White falls haunt, The midnight pack, And the wolves. I was an arc reader for 4 of the novella's within this novel.
FOREST FATED: is a short novella with 4 chapters. In it, the main female character is a spellcaster and the main male character is the alpha of a werewolf pact. The werewolves are mercenaries in this world and and they were hired to find her. Will they team up against the evil wizard or will he hand her over? Although it's only four chapters, you do get a nice description of the world and a small understanding of how the magical system works. Overall I'd rate this one 4 stars.
WHITE FALLS HAUNT: This is actually a prequel to the white wolf pack. This is between Abbey and Vince, and there are about 7 chapters. Abby goes to a haunted trail where people are rumored to find a love connection. Although she's just there for the scar and is very skeptical of finding love. This is a fated mate's tale however abby does not believe in fated mates. So now that Vincent has found her. He has to convince her to give him a shot. I really enjoyed this novella. The concept of how the pack has found a way to bring new people into the area to help find pack members fated mates. Overall I would rate this one 5 stars.
THE MIDNIGHT PACK: This novel is another prequel to the author's upcoming a legacy in the shadows trilogy. This is another faded meat shifter series with a reluctant FMC aninaudible MMC. This novella contains about 12 chand is well written. The FMC Is an orphan who loses her home services also force proximity. Overall I give this book 4 stars.
THE WOLVES: I am currently choosing not to rate this ARC.
Overall, this seems like a great compilation of werewolf tales and a good short halloween/fall read. I hope you enjoy the book. And I hope there was some useful information within my review happy reading.
This story consists of four chapters that I was not able to put down once I started reading. It is about a mage that is being hunted by Cassius and his werewolves’ pack at the request of a warlord. The style in which this was written was descriptive and elegant. As I was reading, I felt as if I was part of the story line and that the chapters were coming to life. It has a perfect mixture of enchantment and sophisticated spice. To me what made this worth it was that Ariella and Cassius were able to work together and them being fated mates was a bonus.
The Wolves- The Werewolf Football Players by Arla Jones 3/5 This is a non-romantic read and has a good moral to the story involving an accident that happened in a Chinese factory. I can see some young adults being able to relate to this storyline as you can see how the characters grow and get accustomed to their new life.
For Shucks Sake by Julie L Kramer 3.5/ 5 This story opened my eyes to a new type of magical creature. A shuck: half werewolf and half selkie that can shed at their own desire. This is a great start to Rhett and Anya prophecy; it lets your imagination run wild with how it may end and what comes next.
The Midnight Pack by Kristy Perkins 4/5 I would like to start off by saying this is amazing and will not be disappointed. This gives you a little bit of everything from shifters, hunters to certain packs. It also has a hint of the importance of finding one's self and wanting to explore your desires but at the same time having to stick to duty and already be mated with in her current pack. I will definitely be looking for more writing by this author.
I really like this short story collection, 3.5 stars rounded up to 4! The different styles offer a lot and you can easily pick out which ones you prefer. It’s very good for a spooky season.
Forest Fated: This is a lovely story and it moves quite fast in terms of both action and romance. I liked the worldbuilding that was done and the fantasy elements fit in nicely. I would’ve loved to have spent more time with developing the enemies to lovers angle but what we got was nice and good. The spicy moment did feel earned and I like the couple together.
The Midnight Pack The story is a bit confusing but I actually like it because the main character is also confused in this, so I think the writing actually supports that. We do not know all the details and as they are revealed to us, we can live it at the same time as the FMC. I like that and it offers a good starting point for the full novel.
White Falls Haunt I liked how the bond didn’t immediately snap into place and Vince is going to have to work for it. It’s good to see that in wolf shifter books since it’s often very insta-lovey. I would’ve preferred to spend more time solidifying their bond before spicy times but I did think Abby was able to make Vince understand where she is coming from.
Celestial Rescue This sets up the upcoming book interestingly with the thirteen women and I’m definitely curious to see where it goes. The space aspect was really well done and I liked our first interactions with the shifter/alien Kip. It’s definitely short and stops quite abruptly but it does offer a delicious morsel and leaves you wanting more.
I was give this book to read as an ARC, and I would with out a second though recommend to though looking for something to get in the Halloween spirit!

"Moonlit Desires-Laura Schofield" I am loving all these prequels, I can't wait to read more about Emma and Ethan. everything about this was amazing.
"Red Moon Rises-River Seabrook" what can I say; shifters, Future, dystopia! this was a refreshing change, no spice but love the enemies to friends trope.
"Bloodstone-D.C. Gomez" this story got me in the Halloween spirit. it had everything from Death himself, mummies, reapers, wolves, talking cats and an apocalypse. who doesn't love a supernatural secret mission.

A collection on 9 short stories all involving Werewolfs or Wolves is some form. It great time to read this spooky 👻 season.
Here is a little about each story
Forest Fated Jamie Dalton You have a determined mage and a Werewolf who only want to protect his own. So what happens when they collide and, is more than just a Captive and captor?
White Falls Haunt by s.r. Griffith Grab at a haunted house, perfect for Halloween. Higher spice level. Male shifter with no idead what boundaries are.😂 FMC writes profanity with cross stitch 😂 This is a prequel.
The Midnight Pack by Kristy Perkins Prequel to a Trilogy. Great start to a very interesting story. True crime lover, thinks you've been kidnapped. Major plot twisted dropped at the end. I am hooked.
Celestial Rescue by Charlene Pender Novella, Sci fi, girl kidnapped from earth, crash lands on different planet on escape. Shift has two tale three eyes and they have a language barrier.
The Wolves- The Werewolf Football Players by Arla Jones No spice, no romance. Horror story. Bad batch of steroids from China, whole team takes them and things go horrible wrong.
Moonlit Desires by Laura Schofield Very spicy...Fated mates, passed life's love, love conquers the darkness.
A Red Moon Rises by River Seabrook Dystopian feel, polluted world, decades long friendship. Just the sweetest relationship.
Bloodstone by D.C. Gomez Egyptian twist with reapers and trying to prevent someone from being brought back.
For Shucks Sake by Julie L. Kramer Shifter and Selkie mixed FMC, seer grandmother, and fullmoon
This was such a fantastic collection. The authors all found the perfect balance of spooky atmosphere for the Halloween season with the rich world-building that fantasy genre storytelling is so proficient in. Each author's powerful imagination translates perfectly into these stories, and the fast pacing and the way the tension compliments the more fun and humorous moments between the characters made this collection fun to get lost in.
While each of these stories was amazing, one story that stood out was from D.C. Gomez, an author who I have reviewed many of their books, and their story Bloodstone. The story ties into the author’s Death’s Intern series, following Bartholomew the Reaper, in an international story directly into Egyptian mythology and werewolves. As a fan of both and a fan of this series, getting to see Bartholomew rise as the protagonist of this particular tale and the back-and-forth relationship between him and Bob was so much fun and allowed the chilling nature of these wolves and their cult dedicated to Set to rise naturally.
The Verdict
A powerful collection of short stories that speak to readers of the fantasy genre in a way that makes them feel included in the Halloween season, Tales of Howloween is a must-read short story collection. The infusion of romance, supernatural thrillers, and fantasy storytelling allowed the collection to shine brightly during Halloween.
