Rate this book
The ministry of Basilea Schlink has had a profound influence in the Church during the last forty years through her teaching and writing. Beginning with a handful of Christian women in Germany at the end of World War II, Mother Basilea and The Lutheran Sisterhood of Mary have declared a message of hope and healing and true commitment to Christ around the world. In this book the author presents in clear, forthright terms the biblical teaching on victory over sin. In forty-five short but dynamic chapters, she deals with specific problem areas in a Christian's life and shows the way to victory and Christlikeness. Like a butterfly escaping its cocoon, you too can escape the bondages of sin and selfishness!

If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. At first it would be easy to think the author is too severe in dealing with our sins, that we must constantly be DOING instead of simply BELIEVING to gain victory over our sins. But if we read the supporting Scriptures and if we take Jesus' words seriously, living a life of faith IS more than just believing. There really is much we need to do to live out our faith and to actively rely on Jesus. And as we do, we truly draw closer to Him and our faith deepens. This book has revealed to me who I really am. It's humbling, yet freeing.
